Fantastic holiday at an amazing hotel. Foods was fabulous but the best thing about this hotel is the animation team they are amazing. Never a dull moment. Plenty of activities and a barrel lot of fun. The team do a fantastic job. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back again.
Excellent hotel in a great location approximately 20 minute walk to the centre. Less than 5 minute walk to the beach which was lovely. Animation team were excellent especially Lorenzo & Willy who were great fun, Lovely food and plenty of choice, waiters and bar staff were all excellent, restaurant had a lovely relaxing atmosphere outside.
Adel kept the pool tidy and ensured all guests were comfortable and had what they needed around the pool nothing was to much trouble
Cleaners were brilliant, rooms cleaned everyday with fresh towels.
The only downfall was our air conditioning in the room didn't work after reporting 3 times it still wasn't fixed which was disappointing.
There was no option of a courtesy room on the last day of check out for a shower although staff did make it possible for us to have a shower somewhere in the hotel on this occasion it would be nice to have a room for future guests to use when travelling home later in the day.
Overall a fantastic hotel we look forward to returning.
TIP - If you can tip the staff during your stay they work exceptionally hard and appreciate all there tips.
Great experience ! The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the food was delicious, everything was clean and in place. I recommend trying this hotel's vibe, very worth it !
10/10 would visit again soon !
Very freindly, had an amazing time made me feel at home, such good energy from all the team made my first time in tunisia brilliant entertainment was spot on .
Had a fantastic 8 days with my family at the Alahambra Hotel. The staff and aninmation team were amazing. Brilliant energy all the time bringing lots of fun and inclusiveness. Special thanks to Lorenzo and Willy. These guys should be commended for there effort.
The hotel food hasnt disappointed which an array of variety throughout our stay. We did have some issue with all 3 rooms but rhey were acknowledged when brought to attention.
Thanks again guys for a fantastic experience
The hotel was perfect, the food, the pool, the people, the massage EVERYTHING. I didn’t wanna leave… We had a great time and the animation people made it really special for us
Pretty hotel, the food was pretty good, all the people was really friendly, also the pool is full of life we had a really great time there with the animation and everything!
Our holiday at Alhambra Thalasso has been the best holiday with family and friends. The room and the food was very nice with lots of food options. The entertainment team were great, we hope to see Lorenzo, Rio taha Willy Mario ouma and mimi when we come back next year.
We are a party of 8 people, adults and children and we have had a truly amazing holiday. There is not one thing we would change about our stay at Alhambra Thalasso. The food choice is amazing and 5 stars. But overall the entertainment team made the holiday for us. Lorenzo, Willy, Mario, Mimi, Ouma and Taha kept us entertained day and night. There are so many activities, Olympic beach games, water polo, Zumba, petanque, volleyball and the list goes on. We will be returning next year and we hope the entertainment team are still the same. Also Adel, the lifeguard is so friendly and helpful.
Very good entertainment, everyone is friendly and the food is amazing, animation team are very interactive and fun, the beach is beautiful except for the jellyfish, the waiters in the restaurant try there best to make meal times great
It was truly amazing...! We had really spacious adjoining rooms for ourselves and our two teenage children, which were conveniently situated in the hotel. While the large pool could become crowded and sunbeds close to it hard to come by, especially for four people, this wasn't throughout the day and it was possible to swim lengths at times. If this was important to you, then the cooler indoor pool was barely being used during our August stay. Just a short walk from the hotel - or, if you were feeling lazy, a complimentary Tuk Tuk ride - was the private beach, complete with lovely entrance, showers, toilets and shaded restaurant. We decided to treat ourselves to lunch there as it wasn't particularly of our all-inclusive package, though our soft drinks were. The pasta and pizza portions were huge and, potentially, one of each could have been shared between the four of us. The buffet-style food at the hotel was also of a good standard, with variations to the menu as well as common items available each day. Both food and drink were available for most of the day, including pizza and pancakes in between lunch and dinner, while there was also a poolside bar serving a range of drinks and complimentary peanuts of you fancied something to eat alongside your beverage. While the drinks came in small plastic cups, it didn't matter when you were all inclusive, other than more frequent trips to the bar. It was also nice that drinking water was readily available in coveniently-sized bottles to keep everyone hydrated. Our all-inclusive deal notably included a meal at the hotel's authentic Tunisian restaurant. While we were told it was "a-la-carte", we were simply given three courses, rather than choosing from a menu. It didn't really matter, though, as they were both varied and delicious. Last, but not least, I couldn't leave this review without mentioning the incredible friendliness and ultra helpfulness of the hotel staff, many of whom went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. A special mention here goes to Adel, the lifeguard on duty, responsible for loungers and pool towels, Trebalsi Yassine at the pool bar, Lorenzo from the pool entertainment team and, finally, Rahat Lassaad, our usual restaurant waiter who kindly reserved us a lovely table in the corner for dinner during much of our stay. Just one minor suggestion for improvement would be some tourist information leaflets at the hotel. It's also worth noting that the hotel is about a 30-minute walk from the Medina - not that we minded as it was a good way of getting our steps in, not to mention burning off some of the extra calories inevitably consumed on an all-inclusive holiday. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and, while some may find the greater need for cash rather than card less convenient and the manner of some of the shopkeepers trying to get you to buy their goods somewhat intrusive, we got used to both after a while, as well as the level of bartering required in the non fixed-price stores.
As many customers say, some parts of the hotel are a bit "tired" and in need of a renovation. But the hotel is super clean, the rooms are big and the food is amazing. The beach is beautiful, you can walk there or take the tuk tuk for the short ride. The animation team is great, we really enjoyed our stay.
very animation team and lovely hotel. amazing beach and really good shows in the evening.
they have loads of fun activities and really get you involved such as karaoke and dancing
We had a brilliant time the hotel was lovely I’ve got nothing bad to say about this hotel.all the staff was polite. The lifeguards made it even better they always was having a laugh with us
We had a terrible experience within Alhambra Thalasso and would urge others to read this review before booking or deciding to book.
I have listed below the reasons to consider not to book this hotel:
1. Even though the hotel seems cheaper than most 5 star hotel within the area, do not be duped as we were. First of all it's not any where near a 5 start hotel - rooms and showers are very tired and in need of major refurbishment.
2. We saw cockroaches (pictured) running around the hotel - which 5 star hotel has cockroaches running around?
3. They charge for everything, so whatever money you saved in booking this hotel, they will make you pay extra to redeem that. For example, they charge for any drinks if you are half board. It was shocking to see this policy and we have never encountered such a policy on all our travels. You are allowed to eat from the restaurant but not allowed to have water or any drinks unless you pay for it. Another stupid policy was to pay for pool towels a 20 Dinar deposit for each towel. They have so much mistrust for guests that they charge deposits for each towel taken.
4. They don't provide iron on request. They push you to use their laundry service at a charge, again a policy of fleecing the guest for money.
5. The toilet and bathrooms are separated which was a personal issue for us
6. The pools are too small and crowded, so don't expect much space for swimming and if you think of going to the beach it's not as close. They do have a shuttle bus but not as close as we expected from the photos.
7. Most of the reception staff are incredibly rude and are more interested in fleecing money and following stupid policies than to ensure good holiday experience for guests.
8. Any additional requests such as airport transfer you will pay 4x more than other providers as they see guests as a cash cow. I ended up booking a private transfer for 4 times less then their quote.
9. They tend to treat French guests better than English and other guest. Again playing on the deep suspicion of guests and the (conscious or unconscious) prejudice they have.
10. There is no service to help you with luggage's within the hotel. We had to pull heavy luggages up and down ourselves when we arrived and left. We also had no one to take and put the luggage of from and to the private transfer We had to do it ourselves. Difficult to do when you have kids with you.
When we asked for help the reply we received from the reception staff is we have no staff to help. Maybe hire additional staff rather than fleecing your guests all the time.
IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY AND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND TIME PLEASE PAY A LITTLE EXTRA AND BOOK ELSEWHERE!!
The service staff and all the other stuff was good like the beach and the bar the cooks and chefs had great table service and the entertainment by the pool was good
Lovely week for our family holiday the hotel is amazing and clean staff are always polite and there to help if needed anything all in all dint have nothing bad to say . Especially the lifegaurds/entertainment made our holiday making us laugh we add the best time thank you 😊
We have recently come home after two weeks at Alhambra Thalasso.
The architecture of the hotel and its lobby and bar area are impressive. It’s a beautiful building.
Smoking is permitted in the bar area which was disappointing, however I am aware this is a cultural difference and it was jarring to me purely as this has been outlawed in my country for a while.
Having said that the bar area and lobby are very clean.
Staff were very friendly and while there were some communication issues due to language difference they were helpful and attentive. Big thanks especially to Mohammed in the restaurant and Adel the lifeguard. They couldn’t have been kinder.
Also impressive was the guest relations lady who would take the time to talk to guests daily and take feedback and give advice.
The restaurant was such a highlight. Has to be the nicest all inclusive food our family has ever had. So much fresh fish, flavourful fresh food and nice wine. The only issue I had as a vegetarian was trying to discover what I could eat as the food wasn’t labelled and some staff struggled to answer when I asked due to language barriers. A simple V or green leaf on the label would have made meal times easier.
Our room was a family suite and was clean and comfortable although basic. The air con worked perfectly and kept the room a comfortable temperature and the cleaning staff came in daily and did an excellent job. The bed was firm, however not uncomfortable for us.
The pool area was kept clean and there were plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas, however it does get busy on weekends especially, so we would need to get up early to reserve a lounger on these days. The pool is 1.5m deep at its deepest point so very family friendly. There is a children's pool around the other side of the hotel along with an indoor/outdoor pool for people who want to use it for exercise.
The animation team are very hard workers. They have a full programme of activities and some are a bit unusual (Arabic lessons, cooking demos, pottery) but nonetheless very interesting. They work hard to get everyone involved but won't pressure if you are not interested. Special thanks to Willy and Djo who were so friendly and chatty and really made our holiday.
The spa looked very nice, we didn't use it as we spent most of our budget on tours and trips out but the staff were friendly and didn't pressure sell like other hotels with spas do.
The hotel has a shop selling clothing, 'designer' bags and souvenirs. The prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly and approachable.
You can easily get a cab to Yasmine or Hammamet from outside and this shouldn’t cost more than 20TD.
The beach area was nice, we did Jet Ski which was reasonably priced and the professional photographer got some excellent shots and was such a good price too.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We were able to relax, have fun and explore Tunisia for the first time.
Thank you Alhambra Thalasso for a wonderful stay.
Don’t let the photos or 5-star label fool you Alhambra Thalasso is more like a run-down 3-star hotel at best. This place was a complete disappointment from the moment we arrived.
The rooms? Cheap-looking and uncomfortable. The AC barely worked, making the room stuffy and unbearable in the summer heat. No kettle, no tea or coffee, no slippers, no toothbrush or toothpaste not even the most basic essentials you’d expect from a proper hotel.
The bed was hard, the duvet was dirty, and to top it off we saw cockroaches in the room. The hallways and common areas looked just as neglected.
The staff were rude and dismissive, especially because we were on a half-board package instead of all-inclusive. It was obvious they treated us differently like we were lesser guests. We only chose half-board because we wanted to explore during the day and eat local food, but apparently that was a problem.
What really shocked us even water wasn’t free. We had to pay overpriced hotel rates for small bottles, and worst of all they didn’t allow us to bring our own water from outside. That’s honestly shameful, especially in hot weather where staying hydrated is a basic need.
Waiters ignored us unless we tipped. Without tips, they literally acted like we were invisible. Completely unprofessional.
The animation team was boring, nothing fun or entertaining. No energy, no vibe just a waste of time.
Only thing worth mentioning was the spa service, which was actually nice. That’s the one part that felt remotely 5-star.
Other than that? Totally overpriced, overrated, and not worth a penny. This hotel is living off its fake star rating. Save your money and stay somewhere that actually values its guests. You deserve better.
If I could give zero stars, I would. One star is outrageously generous for what was, quite frankly, a miserable experience.
Let’s start with the room — dated, dirty, and far from acceptable. The toilet brush was covered in faeces, which says everything you need to know about the standards here. I was placed on the ground floor with no net curtain to cover the balcony window, leaving me completely exposed. After repeatedly chasing for one, I was told by reception that it was my responsibility to ask the cleaner directly. I’m sorry — am I on holiday or managing their staff?
The service? Non-existent. Waiters were more interested in serving themselves than guests, often seen eating in the staff room while tables went uncleared and drinks unserved. If you dared help yourself, you were made to feel like you’d broken some unspoken rule. Sohaila, the so-called guest relations officer, was laughably unhelpful — all feedback was met with deflection. When we raised concerns about inattentive staff, we were told: “That’s part of the homely experience.” We didn’t pay for a homestay — we paid for a 5-star hotel. Start acting like one.
The bar staff were the worst of the lot. Miserable attitudes, no basic courtesy — not even a “good morning.” One bartender in particular consistently mocked guests, checked his watch while we placed orders, and dished out passive-aggressive remarks when serving drinks. Absolutely vile behaviour.
We witnessed cleaners screaming at each other in the hallway over towels and waiters visibly handing over their tips to someone stationed at the entrance of the dining hall. Staff morale was clearly rock bottom, but that’s no excuse to take it out on paying guests. Many staff didn’t speak a word of English and made zero effort to communicate if you didn’t speak French. That’s not a language barrier — that’s a lack of professionalism.
This place is a masterclass in how not to run a hotel. Close it down, retrain your staff, and learn what 5-star service actually entails. An utterly insufferable experience — avoid at all costs.
