A wonderful stay with outstanding hospitality, delicious food and genuinely lovely staff. We would love to come back!

Everything was wonderful! We had a fantastic stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly, polite and welcoming. The food was delicious, and the service throughout the hotel was excellent. A special thank you to Kole at the reception for his kindness and helpfulness, and to Joey from the café for her outstanding service. She is such a lovely, warm and genuinely kind person who made us feel especially welcome. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable!

Here is the updated, stronger version for the “What didn’t you like about the property?” section on Booking.com.

I am extremely disappointed with the unprofessional and unacceptable manner in which The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou has handled a billing issue caused entirely by its own administrative error.

Following my stay, the hotel incorrectly processed my reservation as a no-show, resulting in an automatic refund of CNY 261.45. Despite acknowledging that this was their mistake, the hotel has repeatedly pursued me for payment through numerous emails.

To date, I have not received satisfactory documentary evidence or a proper reconciliation substantiating the amount being claimed.

What concerns me even more is the principle involved. If a hotel can contact guests after checkout and demand additional payment for a relatively small amount, what prevents similar demands for substantially larger amounts? How can guests be confident that charges communicated by reception or the reservations department after their departure are legitimate and properly authorised?

This raises serious concerns about billing transparency, accountability and the protection of guests against unexpected post-checkout payment demands.

Rather than taking responsibility and waiving this small amount as a goodwill gesture, the hotel has chosen to inconvenience me repeatedly and expects me to incur additional international banking charges to rectify its own mistake.

For an internationally recognised luxury establishment such as The Ritz-Carlton, this conduct is astonishing and completely unacceptable.

I have requested that the matter be escalated to the General Manager, as the reservations department has failed to resolve it satisfactorily.

A hotel that prides itself on exceptional service should not subject paying guests to repeated payment demands arising from its own administrative incompetence.
