We had booked and prepaid a 7-night stay at Acropolis Museum Hotel (28 Feb – 7 March), but ended up leaving after just one night. Unfortunately, the experience fell so far below expectations that staying longer simply wasn’t an option.
Upon arrival, we were told we had been “upgraded” to a Deluxe Double Room. If this was indeed an upgrade, I would be very concerned about the standard of the regular rooms.
The room itself had multiple issues:
The bathroom door handle was loose and repeatedly fell off
Lighting in the bathroom was extremely poor, and ventilation didn’t work
While showering, you could clearly hear conversations from the breakfast area
Overall, the room felt worn and poorly maintained
The noise level was by far the worst part. The hotel is located on a busy street, and the room had virtually no sound insulation. Traffic noise continued day and night, making it very difficult to sleep.
While a flat-screen TV was provided as advertised, it only offered local channels, which felt quite limited for an international hotel.
All of this stands in stark contrast to how the hotel presents itself, claiming to offer “modern amenities and comforts” following renovations. That was simply not our experience.
What makes this even more disappointing is what happened afterwards. I contacted the hotel to raise these issues and request compensation, given that we had prepaid for a full week but only stayed one night. Apart from a brief acknowledgment saying the matter would be forwarded, there has been no meaningful response.
A hotel can have shortcomings—but ignoring guests afterwards is far worse.
In summary:
Misleading description of room standard
Poor maintenance and basic facilities
Severe noise issues
Completely unresponsive customer service
We left after one night and received no proper follow-up. I would not recommend this hotel.
Location is perfect.
They gave a very noisy room, but the staff was gentle and moved me to a better one.
Yerini
Odalara gidinceye kadar çok fazla merdiven var
Firstly I want to prefix this review that am a graduate from an elite School of Hotel administration and worked
in EVERY member of the staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, hospitable and eager to create a special experience for me, and from what I witnessed, for the other guests as well.
Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and of excellent quality.
The hotel is a classical building with a lot of personality and special touches. The bed was incredibly comfortable(Cocomat bed) and I consistently got a good nights sleep. I also felt very safe staying there.
The location couldn’t be beat. The Koukaki neighborhood is a culinary Mecca, plus all the major sites of Athens are in walking distance.
I hope I have the opportunity to stay there in the future!
The hotel is located near to the metro and the Acropolis, it is really easy to get there, also with a luggage; there are not many restaurants next door (but a coffee-shop), but if you don't mind to walk 5-10 minutes, you can find both the more and less touristic ones with excellent food. And you can almost see the temple of Zeus from your room window.
The hotel is located next to the avenue where the traffic never stops: the first night was difficult, but afterwards I got used to the noise. Also, the central heating schedule of the hotel is a bit strange: they heat during the night, when you are asleep and under the blanket, and don't do it in the evening and early morning, when you actually need the warmth, but it is possible to use the room's climatisation system (although it makes terrible noise) and extra blankets, so actually it is all OK. The strangest thing in the room was the table: it was very high and clearly meant to be used for make-up, but not sitting at it and working, so I had to use two pillows to be able to work with my laptop.
Fajny hotel w zasięgu spaceru od Akropolu. Śniadanie też dobre. Ciekawy wystrój
Warto byłoby odświeżyć łazienkę
Acropolis'e ve toplu taşımaya yakın. Yataklar rahat. Temiz.
Çok yol gürültüsü alıyor. Banyoları çok eski. Duşakabinler çok küçük. Kahvaltısı çeşit olarak yetersiz. Plaka'ya (şehrin hareketli yerine) uzak. Tekrar gittiğim zaman tercih etmem.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The building has character and the interior design gives it a boutique feeling. Our room had high ceilings and wooden floors which made it feel spacious and elegant. Being able to walk to the Acropolis early in the morning was a wonderful experience.
Despite being close to the city center, the hotel has a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The room was comfortable and quiet, which made it easy to rest after a long day of exploring Athens. The staff were polite and helpful and the overall experience was very pleasant.
One of the things I appreciated most was the hospitality of the staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive, always ready to offer advice or assistance. The room was very clean and nicely arranged, and the hotel had a calm and pleasant atmosphere throughout.
