Best part of this hotel is the staff. Jose and the front desk team were excellent. Hotel itself is a bit tired, towels are a bit worn and shower could have been cleaned better.
Professional and friendly staff. The hotel was spotless!! It was quiet and comfortable. Even the maid service was extremely helpful when my son became sick unexpectedly. They immediately sanitized my entire room and brought in fresh linen and towels. Thank you!!
Nothing
Elizabeth was extremely nice when greeting me and checking me in. She made sure to tell me about the facilities and their location. The room was clean, cool and comfortable.
We stayed here in August 2026. This used to be a go-to hotel a decade ago. This was before we knew what else Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington had to offer. We stopped staying here after the hotel's age and poor upkeep were becoming very noticeable. Rusty metal finishes, peeling tub, stained carpet and furniture, tears on furniture and a lack of consistent housekeeping. So when we saw the hotel was renovated recently, we thought, "let's try it out." Why? It's cheaper than other locations and has a small kitchenette. But as people say, you do get what you pay for.
The renovations were done on the cheap. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Yes, the paint job (from the pictures) is nice and the bed has a nice aesthetic. But that is where the renovations end. The tub/shower combo was patch plastered and poorly at that. The under sink areas were unfinished. The stairwell carpets were stained. There was a smell of mold in the rooms and on floor hallways. The water pressure puttered before coming out. The TV went out and no channels played every time it was turned on. It was never fixed. There was no signage for how to use the battery-operated window blinds to raise them up and down. Kudos to the repair man who came to fix it--he was friendly and helpful. The plug in the bathroom was impractical. It was hard to plug anything up with how close the mirror was to it. Think of the renovations more of putting cheap lipstick on a pig instead of them tearing it down and doing it right.
Breakfast was decent. It was your usual fare--some pork/turkey product, eggs, flavored yogurts, cereal, coffee, waters, bagels, muffins, oranges and bananas, and sometimes a working waffle station. Tea wasn't replenished as often. We never had our room cleaned so I can't speak about housekeeping but never really saw any staff anywhere in the hotel. They used to have a hot tub but that has been replaced. There's just a pool now.
Overall, I would never stay here again. The stay was OK. There are far worse places. But if I'm paying a decent amount of money, this place does not past muster. You can find a better place to stay in my opinion.
Location
There were hairs and stains on the bed and towels. The parking lot is small, when I arrived in the evening there was a jet ski trailer and a truck in the parking lot, which took up a lot of parking spaces. I had to squeeze into the only free space and hope that they wouldn't scratch my car when they left.
Very quiet and secluded
We’ve stayed at this place for at least 8 or 9 years (consecutively). Great hotel. Polite staff. Recent upgrades to the property made a huge difference! We will be back soon.
Thank you, ASIA!
Excellent stay at TownePlace Suites thank you Asia… newly renovated property 😊
Had a fantastic stay at this location! Service was topnotch - Ms. Asia and Mr. Sean/GM made our stay exceptional! We had a rough stay at another hotel earlier in the week and they both went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. It was a joy to see and speak with them in the mornings during breakfast. And, breakfast was always hot and stocked.
This hotel is clean and updated with modern decor, and every single amenity was working and available! We highly recommend staying here!
Charming Noel on the Front Desk whisked us right into our King 1-Bedroom Suite on arrival — and it was spacious, with a bath tub and kitchen, door to the bedroom and a couple double-paned windows for a view. Night man Jose came to our rescue when the guest in the connecting/but locked off room next door left his 2 dogs yapping and barking non-stop. Both Jose and Chad from Maintenance personally informed the guest either the dogs stopped barking or he moved to another room or he left the hotel. No more barking. Thank you for that, Jose and Chad. Breakfast was outstanding: scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, oatmeal, yogurts, individual milk cartons (fat-free and 2%), lots of breads/bagels. A very good show all around, GM Sean.
This was our 1st stay at this Town Place Suites, and we tried to check in at 3 but had to wait over an hour to finally get our room. When I asked if it was a staffing problem, he said no it was all the late check out perks of the Marriott key members. There were about 10 of us just sitting in the lobby waiting for our rooms.
Once that was settled our room was nice with a full kitchen and they had an upgraded continental breakfast. They also had a little indoor pool off the lobby. Another negative was having only 1 ice machine that was located on the 1st floor and it's easy to drive past the entrance due to poor signage and landscaping. Even with the annoyances I still gave it a 4.
Exceptional staff, room, breakfast, and experience. I would stay here again, and again.
We had such a nice experience staying at TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Wilmington. The room was very clean, and the staff was very kind. Shout out to Noel and Alonzo at the front desk for being so warm, welcoming and helpful.
Keith - the night desk person - was amazing. Had a terrible travel day due to airline delays. Tried to book a room online and it didnt go through. Showed up and Keith was so nice and efficient. I really appreciate him.
The room was a room. Breakfast was basic but I appreciated the mini waffle machine
