Superb views, great staff and superb position
Pros:

The views from the hotel are amazing. The infinity swimming pool one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to swim in.
We stayed in a very spacious Royal Pavilion Room on the 4th floor with views of the lake and the pool below.
The Buddhist temple of the tooth is a 15minute walk down the hill, so an excellent location

Cons:

The electric sockets in the room could do with updating. Although the pool opens at 7.00am there were no towels available - a small oversight in the grand scheme of things.

Im Thilanka kann man sich vom Trubel der Stadt erholen und die schöne Aussicht geniessen.
Pros:

Das Hotel ist gut gelegen, etwas erhöht über der Stadt, nicht weit vom Zentrum. Man hat eine schöne Aussicht auf die Stadt und den See. In der Nähe befindet sich der Kandy Lake Club, der lohnenswerte Kandy Dance Shows anbietet.
Das Hotel ist beliebt für Hochzeiten, was interessant zum Zuschauen ist. Das Personal ist zuvorkommend. Mit dem Essen waren wir auch zufrieden. Es gibt eine internationale Auswahl und einen sri lankischen Bereich auf dem Buffet.

Cons:

Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und könnte eine Renovation vertragen. Das Sofa im Zimmer war abgewetzt, aber das störte bloss optisch. Leider gab es keinen Spa mehr. Wir hätten gerne eine Massage gebucht.

great view, great value
Pros:

Thilanka Hotel truly felt like a real 5-star hotel, and we honestly regretted staying here for only one night.

The location is excellent, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything you might need. The room was very clean, we had a balcony, and the view was absolutely stunning.

The swimming pool looks great, but it was a bit cold, and since the weather was also cool, we didn’t have the courage to try it 🙂 Still, it’s a nice facility to have.

The restaurant offered good food, and the drinks were also very nice. Breakfast wasn’t extremely rich, but there were enough options to choose from and everything was tasty.

We really enjoyed our stay at Thilanka Hotel and will definitely come back. Next time, we’ll stay at least two nights.

Excellent location, great staff and facilities!
Pros:

The hotel was really comfortable and clean with lovely staff and a good selection of facilities. The hotel offered pretty much everything you could need - good food, laundry, gym, pool etc. The most impressive part is the location, it's located on the hill side, overlooking Kandy lake - the views are stunning and there's lovely cafes, restaurants and temples just a short wall away. The staff were also lovely and friendly!

Cons:

The only downside I would say is that the rooms near the pool could get quite noisy at night from the bar. The music normally stopped about 11pm but it was quite loud.

Pros:

Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr reichhaltig und mit viel Liebe zubereitet und hingestellt. Es wurde auch immer darauf geachtet, dass von allem immer ausreichend da war. Das Personal war stets ansprechbar und präsent.

Unique stay at a fabulous quirky hotel
Pros:

One of the most spectacular infinity swimming pools, suspended on the edge of the hotel, overlooking Kandy and amazing views of surrounding mountains and hills. The beds were also extremely comfortable.

Cons:

The decor is a bit dated in places - but it is an independent hotel, brimming with personality.

Pros:

Staff were lovely

Cons:

The hotel very tired and dated.

The food isn’t great, the selection or the quality.

There is a lack of loungers next to the pool if the sun is out and guests want to come and have a swim or sunbathe and the music from the pool bar is loud.

The “gym” I used once, the location appears to be a disused landing in the bowels of the building. It creeped me out so much that I didn’t go back. Notwithstanding that, the equipment isn’t great and the space is not maintained well. No fans or emergency buttons should something happen.
