A beautiful, classic retreat for work, relaxation and wellbeing with exceptional location and staff.
Pros:

Mahaweli Reach is an exceptional hotel and I returned twice within the space of three weeks as I enjoyed staying there so much. It is a stunning place to retreat and relax. The hotel has been tastefully developed over a long period and fully deserves to be highly recommended. The location, in lush, green, tropical gardens which are beautifully maintained, next to the river is stunning. The hotel is classic and comfortable and the rooms are large, clean and tastefully furnished. I specifically asked for a quiet room and was delighted to discover I had a balcony with a lovely, relaxing view across the lovingly landscaped gardens. The swimming pool with adjacent bar was large and very clean, with a well-equipped gym and spa facilities. I had an excellent massage during my stay, used both room service and the restaurant for my meals and really enjoyed the food. The staff were exceptional, always courteous and helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure that I had the best guest experience possible.

A Lovely property with great amenities
Pros:

Personal touch the Executive Chef Sanjeewa had with the diners was wonderful and we enjoyed his company as well as the dinner. The hoppers and the curries were excellent. The swimming pool and other amenities were lovely. We enjoyed our evening at the pool. The staff were very helpful

Pros:

Von außen wirkt dieses Hotel wie ein echtes Luxus-Hotel – gepflegt, schön und vielversprechend. Das Essen war ganz gut.

Cons:

Unser Zimmer war alt, abgewohnt, modrig und einfach nur unangenehm. Es wirkte weder gepflegt noch sauber, sondern eher wie seit Jahren nicht richtig renoviert. Die Betten waren unbequem und hatten einen muffigen Geruch – erholsamer Schlaf ist hier nicht möglich.
Das ist besonders enttäuschend, weil die Außenanlage und der erste Eindruck etwas komplett anderes versprechen.
Einziger Lichtblick war das Abendessen mit guter Auswahl.
Insgesamt fühlt man sich hier leider getäuscht – außen hui, innen absolut nicht akzeptabel. Wir würden definitiv nicht wiederkommen.

I stayed for two nights at Mahaweli Reach Hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The food was of excellent quality, and I especially enjoyed both the breakfast and dinner—they were superb.

The room was spacious, very clean, and well-maintained. The overall hotel environment was calm and maintained with a high level of cleanliness.

What stood out the most was the staff service. The team was extremely friendly, professional, and attentive throughout my stay.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kandy.

Lovely hotel, but bathrooms need to be upgraded and cleaner. Sheets too.

The overall ambience of the hotel was amazing. Really beautiful. Staff were nice and very friendly. Breakfast was good too.

The hoppers were the best I've had in the whole of Sri Lanka. The chef was very accommodating and even made sweet milk hoppers. The chef also brought me a plate of mango when I asked which was very kind.

Cons:

Bathrooms in dire need of an upgrade. There was mould all over the bathtub. There should be shower tray facilities as well. Not acceptable for a 5 star hotel.

The sheets also had pilling and should be entirely replaced.

nice hotel in a good riverside location. enjoyable
Pros:

breakfast was very good with a large choice of options available and the always smiling Sawmya preparing our eggs etc made our stay even better, such a lovely young lady just setting out on her culinary journey, keep up the good work.

Cons:

evening buffet not as much choice with very little meat dishes avaialbale or run out nut othewise tasty all the same

Pros:

Lovely architecture and nice garden. The staff was also good.

Cons:

The hotel had a wedding party one night with loud music. We complained and then they stopped the music so that we could finally sleep.
You can only have a shower in the bath tub which is difficult to enter and exit.
There were no mattresses on the loungers.
