Our stay at the Holiday Inn Cairo – Citystars, from January 19 to January 22, 2026, ended in a deeply disappointing and distressing way.

Everything seemed normal during the first days and in line with what one expects from an international hotel chain. However, on the last night of our stay, a serious incident occurred: USD 100 was stolen from my wife and another USD 100 from me, directly from our luggage inside the room.

The money was not left in plain sight. It was hidden in different, discreet places inside our suitcases. Whoever took it had to search our luggage thoroughly, clearly knowing where to look. The pattern was identical in both cases: same amount, same timing, same circumstances. This happened after the housekeeping service, just before our departure, when it was least likely we would notice immediately.

This was not a coincidence. The probability of two people losing exactly the same amount, in the same way and at the same time, is virtually zero. This was not a misunderstanding or a mistake.

We reported the incident to the hotel immediately. We were told that an “internal investigation” was conducted, but the response was cold, evasive, and offered no real resolution. What was particularly concerning is that the staff appeared uncomfortably familiar with this type of situation, as if it were not entirely unusual, although this was never acknowledged. In the end, it was simply reduced to our word against theirs.

We are honest travelers and travel frequently. We have never experienced anything like this before. Beyond the financial loss, what remains is a strong feeling of vulnerability, disappointment, and loss of trust, especially coming from a well-known international brand that should guarantee basic safety standards.

We expected a responsible and empathetic response, including some form of compensation, but that did not happen. We are leaving this review to warn other travelers and to urge the Holiday Inn Cairo – Citystars to take this incident seriously and review its security protocols and control over housekeeping staff.

The hotel was so good and very good location that location is the nearest to the airport and he was good because he is beside the city stars mall and the staff was so helpful and cuteness and about the room is very nice the comfortable and the food in the restaurant was so good and the all experience was good

Perfect location, next door for City Stars mall. Clean, Good service. Will definetly be my 2nd house in Cairo

Very good hotel the location so goog the service very speed and staff profitional of hospitality I will come back many times

Location is great. Attached to the mall for a great shopping and dining experience.
Staff were generally friendly, but I didn't like the talkative receptionist (Mostafa I think is his name), his answers were quiet irritating, for example he asked for my ID, I asked of he will only take a copy? The amswer was:
"What do you think I will do with it?"
All answers were like that, and I found it disturbing and rude.
Ither than that, security, housekeepers, concierge ,...etc were great.
The furniture was quiet old, the minibar's shelf was broken, but the AC worked really well, and in spite of being old, the facility was relatively well maintained.
The bedsheets were great as expected, and the bed was nice (not the best mattress), but overall it was cozy and clean.
Cleanness was unquestionable, and it was very quiet, lovely quiet actually.
TV chanmels had a lot of varieties, which was awesome.
Never had the time to try the restaurant or the gy, spa...etc. maybe next time.
Parking was excellent, except for the terrible entrance and tight tunnels. But there were plenty of places, and one of the managers was kind enough to have one 0f the staff bring it to the top. He was also very nice and polite (unfortunately I dont remember his name).

So overall, I enjoyed my time, and I thank everyone who contributed in the experience.
Yes...there is room for improvement, but I am still thankful for a safe couple of nights spent in Cairo.
