Decent hotel walking distance to Old Town. Rooms super small and bed is in middle of room! Trendy hotel that becomes a nightclub at night. Young people partying into the morning in rooms/hall. Rooms not soundproof, you can hear everything. Skip this place if you actually want to sleep
Dried roaches in the “welcome lounge”. Very welcoming… the shop is very cute, cute things but couldn’t find anyone to help. The front desk team was very kind. The new restaurant Roman is very over priced for frozen foods. DoorDash or walk down the strip. Chaotic at all times. Drunk people everywhere, loud music everywhere, seemed very very trashy. Prostitution going down at the pool. You can’t sleep at night due to the clubs going on all night.
Tried to go to the spa after being kept up all night by the clubs.
Only amenity is the shower. Showers smell like pee. Roaches in the locker rooms. My massage was interrupted multiple times since they don’t have white noise machines in the halls and you can hear everything in the hall way. The nail stations are out in the open so you get no privacy during pedicures. Drunk people coming in and out of the side door, the receptionist talking about the staff and shopping is very upsetting when spending so much to relax. When bringing up the roaches the receptionist just laughed. The receptionists seem very immature and unprofessional.
The pool is very creepy. There’s a giant mirror down to the driving port so everyone can look up at you in the pool and the pool isn’t deep enough to swim.
Avoid the hotel, avoid the spa, avoid the restaurants.
Poorly built, poorly managed, poorly run, poorly marketed.
Either market to young drunk people or to business men but the two don’t mesh. This place is trashy and management should be applauded.
very small room size and very old mattress with springs poking out.
This place is overpriced, unclean, unsafe, has low level staff, no real amenities and definitely not worth any of your money. Go to a real 5-star hotel instead of this dump!
This hotel is perfect! Staff is very friendly and rooms are gorgeous.
Our group of 19 booked two tables (not cabanas) by the pool on a Saturday, and it was a blast. Great music, friendly (and yes, hot) servers, and solid service all around. Even the lobby staff were welcoming, so don’t be shy about showing up pool-ready.
Now, two major ball-breakers:
1️⃣ The price tag. The two tables came with a $3,000 minimum spend, and nothing is included, not even a token appetizer or “thanks for keeping the Scottsdale economy booming.” Bottles start around $500, and while the ice, mixers, and cups kept flowing, the value definitely didn’t.
2️⃣ The pool temperature. It’s NOT HEATED!! Even on a sunny October day, the water was cold. This is really a significant detail that we expected based on the cost. The pool is not even that big.
For the algorithm: this place is not kid-friendly on Saturdays,
Great location beautiful hotel!
Great staff, clean rooms, great location
Wonderful room, facility, staff and service! Highly recommend. Close to many shops and eateries. You MUST try out the Sexy Roman that is inside the hotel. Great food and atmosphere!
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I’ve never experienced such ridiculous and inconsistent treatment in my life. I was forced to check my hat for $10 because I “wasn’t a guest,” only to walk inside and see the place packed with people wearing backwards hats everywhere. So much for consistency.
The security guards here are an absolute joke — rude, arrogant, and clearly more interested in flexing power than providing any kind of guest experience. They acted like complete douchebags and made the entire vibe hostile from the moment I arrived.
Between the pointless policies, the obvious double standards, and the obnoxious staff, this is hands-down one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. Save yourself the money and the headache — plenty of better spots in Scottsdale that won’t treat you like garbage.
This hotel code not be more attentive or accommodating
Great stay!
Staff was great!! Pool party on Saturday the best!
The W is always a nice trendy place to stay. Pool scene is really fun. However, I would double check your bill. They like to charge you for the mini bar even though you don’t use it! Check your invoice!
Great location, great room!
Less than 1 star, if possible. Save your money—there are plenty of newer venues that are far nicer and more professional.
Our group of 11 women was in Scottsdale for a bachelorette trip. Compared to some of the rowdier bachelor groups nearby, we were calm, respectful, and fully capable of handling ourselves in a rooftop club environment (we’re from Miami, after all). Yet we were removed from the venue for the reason of someone being “visually intoxicated” simply for leaning on another friend’s shoulder.
Meanwhile, where was security when we requested assistance with a nearby bachelor party that was harassing us—grabbing at us and even trying to take our bottles? That concern was dismissed.
What makes this worse is the timing: only 20 minutes earlier, our server told us she was leaving and asked if she could close out our tab. When management arrived to remove one of our group members, bussers simultaneously began clearing out our bottles, even though we still had hours left with our table. It’s hard not to see this as intentional.
The booking coordinator was also unprofessional. When I asked about a pre-ordered bottle, her response was, “What bottle?”—only for it to show up 20 minutes later. This felt careless at best and dishonest at worst.
Yes, Arizona law allows private businesses to refuse service, but removing a guest for sitting with her head on a friend’s shoulder, while ignoring actual harassment from another group, is unacceptable.
Overall, our group felt disrespected, dismissed, and taken advantage of. I strongly recommend choosing another venue.
I understand the bougie vibe attracts a lot of hustlers… but it’s super tacky and quite frankly disrespectful, when as guests of the hotel, we were treated so poorly by security when we tried to access the pool. Such a shame! Otherwise it was a lovely stay! Amazing restaurant, the cart bartender lady is a gem and truly understands the hospitality experience. Bravo to an amazing team all around… except for that one guy by the back entrance to the pool! Ah, the ice cream and champagne surprise at the lobby was incredible!!!
ABSOLUTELY UNSANITARY AND CHEAP HOTEL ENERGY. I'm sorry but the person who serviced us at the start of the trip was not experienced enough to handle what was given. The hotel had no AC in the corner room that I paid extra for, and the rep claimed it was hot bc we had the curtains opened and all the rooms on that side were hot, but I've stayed in the penthouse on that side before and it was perfectly fine. He is a liar. We were forced to move to a smaller room (with only $75 "Credits") on the ground level after overpaying for the room. This room was valued over $500 LESS than what we paid for.
The floor room was not nice at all, but we settled for it. Only to discover, there was a massive PEE STAIN on my bed from the previous guest. I am so disgusted. Absolutely disgusted. Not only that, the rep we had claimed the W was not a part of the Marriott chain, therefore we were unable to upgrade our room(so he downgraded us). So disgusted after spending over $2k on 3 nights. Our massages were below sub par. Not professional at all. The best part about this hotel was the doorman. That's all.
We had a great stay and appreciated the amazing staff and the surrounding area!
