Athlone Springs Hotel

Brilliant food and staff at friends wedding!! Absolutely loved it.

Everything was excellent, from the ease of parking, to the lovely CLEAN bedroom, to the excellent dinner on Sunday night, and the delicious lunch during the conference.
It was a lovely experience.

For context, I was a bridesmaid at my a relatives wedding.

Booking process:
- Easily booked online.
- The wedding rate was higher than the rate I had booked independently (by nearly €100), so I would question the value for money that is offered to wedding parties. Which I had to highlight as the hotel wanted to cancel my independent booking in favour of the bridal party room booking
- I had approximately six calls with the hotel before I arrived as there were miscommunications/ misunderstandings
- One of the times I called, I was told I would receive a call by someone who would be able to confirm details. Nobody called me - I had to once again initiate contact.
- other members of the bridal party had their bookings cancelled without informing them, and had their personal details shared without permission.
- there was a lot of uncertainty regarding bookings; I even got a call two days before the wedding asking if I still wanted the room. I had been prepared for the possibility that there may not be a room available when I actually got there.

Wedding party suite for hair/makeup
- two different staff members directed us outside to get to the suite at 7.25am, when the gym area was locked until 8am.
- The staff then sent us up to the first floor and out towards the gym area again, giving us a 4 digit code/ number. This door was also locked, and there was no keypad.
- When I called the reception to advise them of this, they sent someone over, but that person did not have a key.
- Just a very messy situation, that I feel should have been avoided
- The staff did bring us over some breakfast, which was very kind as the breakfast was not served until after 7.30 when the makeup/hair prep was ongoing. So they did try!
- The confusion & delay resulted in the ladies having to split up travelling to ensure the bridesmaids got to the church on time, leaving mother of the groom to travel separately.

Location:
- out of the town
- in an industrial estate
- pharmacy & grocery shop nearby

The bedroom:
- it was a clean, normal size room with a bath & shower in the en-suite
- the bed linen was ripped
- had a hairdryer, ironing board & iron
- given bottle of water complimentary
- no fridge in the room
- shampoo/ conditioner / shower gel provided (refillable Elemis bottles)
- I was on the first floor above the breakfast room, while my siblings, and parents were all on the second floor
- the noise from the breakfast room was able to be heard from my room in the morning, and kids screaming woke me up

Breakfast:
- standard hot breakfast with pastries & fruit
- small amount of space to cater for the number in the hotel
- overflow went into another room

Wedding reception
- nice food
- catered for allergies
- no non-alcoholic options available at the reception (despite having been made aware that the whole grooms side not drinking alcohol) - I asked a manager for non alcoholic drink from a manager who when he checked with the two bars, they both had no non-alcoholic drink options (besides soft drinks / water / tea / coffee).
- the reception room was small, felt cramped, and many were left standing as there were not enough seats available

Wedding event
- the melon started was very small, containing less than a slim 1/2 slice of watermelon, two grapes, a single slice of kiwi & a single slice of orange. There was no coulee/ garnish.
- bread & soup was nice
- turkey dinner was a little dry, but they did provide extra gravy which was a lovely touch
- desserts were tasty, but there was inconsistencies as some got four desserts, while others only got three.
- the top table was not against a wall & one of the young children fell off it (luckily not hurt badly)
- the waitress looking after our table was very nice and really tried to look after everyone well.
- again there were no non-alcoholic beverages available (despite advertising that there would be)

Check in / check out
- easy check in & checkout
- staff were happy to put gift into the wedding suite for me

Attended a conference at the hotel yesterday, I have to say the place looked nice, seemed like a nice atmosphere, staff was very friendly, the cookies where amazing i have to say. Was offered pre paid dinner voucher which was nice, food was really good, ill definitely be back for dinner. Thanks to David for all the help, answered any questions I had about food allergies, very professional well mannered man

Such a lovely stay at Athlone Springs Hotel. The food was genuinely gorgeous. Our room was spotless, really comfortable, and so warm and cosy, which made it very hard to leave the bed in the mornings.

The staff were one of the highlights. Everyone was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming in a way that felt sincere rather than forced. It makes such a difference.

The location is also very convenient, there’s a SuperValu right beside the hotel which is ideal, and it’s quick and easy to get into Athlone town centre whenever you want to head in.

It felt relaxed, comfortable, and easy the whole time. Would absolutely stay again.

Returning to this hotel again for the 4th time, always good staff are a credit to the hotel and we were lucky to get a complimentary upgrade to one of the newly renovated rooms! Will return again !

We stayed in the Athlone Springs during a short trip travelling around Ireland. It’s always nice to get away after the busy Christmas and the springs didn’t disappoint. Lovely spacious room along with a chilled out bar area for drinks. The restaurant is currently being renovated which is good to see hotels reinvesting in the property. Will definitely be back.

We had stayed here before in April and had a lovely time. On this occasion a few days before I rang the hotel and asked if there were any restrictions/ classes in the swimming pool as the last time we were there with the kids there was an aerobics class on. The hotel receptionist said there was no classes that would effect us (including the kids). I also asked if there was any chance we could check in slightly earlier. They said ring that day which I did at 1pm. The receptionist advised that they had a good few people who had checked out and would check with house keeping and ring me back. No return call, arrived at the hotel at 14.20 she said it should be ready soon and I said we would wait in the car. Again after an hour I went in and just said we would go swimming. She then said she would drop the keys to us in the leisure centre never happened. When we did get to the room it was made up wrong with a cot etc so had to get it changed. The second evening we were going to go swimming at 17.30 but it appeared busy with classes so we said we would wait a while as the pool was open until 10pm. I checked thereafter and we went down at 18.40 only to be told the pool is closed to kids at 7pm.. I advised that I had rang the hotel to check out specifically about the swim times etc and they didn’t tell us that. If that was the case We would have got in an hour earlier. He was really sound and seen that I had been down earlier so said we could stay for the hour. Couldn’t say anything better about all the leisure staff they were really friendly and helpful everytime we used the pool. He said it has happened a few times and should raise with the hotel. I walked over and spoke to the receptionist who didn’t care about anything I raised with her and just actually said “do you want me to pass this on to a manager”? Didn’t care less.. I said I did again got no feedback. And would have been happy if someone seemed interested.
Also no pancakes for the kids on Pancake Tuesday which I thought was actually funny at that point..For the most part staff were friendly but these few issues took the good out of it.. Don’t know if there has been changes but there was a different vibe this time. Would have really rated before this..

Had a really lovely stay here. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything ran smoothly from check-in to check-out. A special mention to James in management — he was professional, attentive, and clearly takes pride in making sure guests have a great experience. It really made a difference. Would happily stay again!

Absolutely amazing experience, food is immaculate and service was very good. The manager on shift on the evening we visited was James, he was extremely helpful and so welcoming. Very nice young man he is a credit to the hotel

The staff were friendly, the room was clean. Everything went smoothly, and I felt very welcome.

We recently stayed at this lovely hotel as two friends traveling with our newborn babies, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and supported.

Traveling with two new babies can be stressful, but the team made everything so easy. They were incredibly kind and attentive, always checking in to see if we needed anything and being so warm and gentle with the babies. It truly made a difference to feel so well looked after.

We were especially grateful to have travel cots set up in our room, which made bedtime much simpler and gave us real peace of mind.

Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our stay relaxing and memorable. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with little ones!

We stayed at the hotel with another family and had a lovely time, the food in the restaurant was beautiful and kids enjoyed the pool. We had an incident with lost car keys and the staff (especially Olivia) couldn't have been more helpful to us trying to track them down.

This is our 2nd time staying here in 2 months and we had a fabulous time. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. The food in the evening in the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast equally as good. As always the best part for the kids was the pool area which was spacious and extremely clean. Staff are super friendly and take time to chat with the kids which is so lovely and really adds to their little holiday. We will be back in the summer. Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

Absolute joke. Dated poor service. Counter staff on booking in very disengaged. Freezing in bar as beside automatic door. More interested in a valentine video or photo. Our Bedroom door big gaps can hear everything on the corridor. Definitely wouldn't recommend it. Spent night in our basic room that my husband had to carry a table to from a corridor as none in room. So disappointed. Never again.

I had a really enjoyable stay at the Athlone Springs Hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout my visit. The leisure facilities, especially the pool and fitness area, were a great bonus and well‑maintained. The on-site restaurant served tasty food with plenty of choice.
