Highlander Motor Inn Atlantic City

i requested top floor but was put in room 101. the man at the front desk barely talked so i didn't even bother asking about it. they left the door open before we even checked in after cleaning it so there were multiple flies & fruit flies in the room. i had to try to catch them & get them out so i could sleep. even after i got them out, more somehow appeared in the room later. there were even dead fruit flies in the refrigerator & in the ice. the room looked extremely dirty and disgusting, honestly one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in and i do not pick the best hotels in general anyways. we considered asking for our money back to stay somewhere else but decided to just stay for 2 nights since the bed was okay and we were only there to sleep. but there were gross looking stains everywhere like on the carpet, walls, ceiling, pillows, curtain, etc. my white socks turned dark brown from walking on the carpet one time for 5 minutes. there were smells in the room. the sink water constantly ran. there was a part under the bed that you would hit with your feet if standing on the side of the bed and it would make a loud bang noise and was just extremely annoying and in the way and honestly probably woke up other people when we came in at night and it happened accidentally a few times. almost all the towels looked dirty, to the point of needing to be thrown away and buy new ones. the towel rack in the bathroom was completely rusted and got rust on the towels that they put there so we had to ask for more. i don't even know how this hotel is rated 6+ unless i just got the worst room in the whole place. it does not just "need updated to look better", it needs all new items because they are old, dirty, gross, and nothing is properly taken care of. i would be embarrassed to even work here. again this is my experience with this specific room and they may not all be this bad & dirty, but it was also not just the room itself that was bad.

I got what I paid for, it was decent

Building is old and not maintained, air conditioning units had buckets underneath collecting the condensation water. Non-smoking unit had cigarette Burns marks all over tub toilet sink etc. No vending machines outside only one ice machine that I could see. We're not recommend this place.

The carpets were filthy and stained but that wasn't the worst thing the worst thing was that the bed was broken you just sunk into the middle of the bed it wasn't worth what I ended up paying for. Update the rooms get new beds and carpet and maybe ratings will go up but until then I won't be back to that hotel

The rooms need a lot of work
