Expensive for what it is
Pros:

Quiet location. Beds were comfortable.

Cons:

Snow removal going on outside our window. I paid for an upgraded room and expected it to be a lot nicer and cleaner than it was. Had an issue with the fireplace. Other then that, it was ok. I wouldn't pay 213 to stay in an upgraded room again.

They used to have cheese and wine tastings at 5pm-7pm free of charge AND include breakfast in the room price. This is not the case anymore. Its now 40.00 for a couple to eat breakfast and my parking was charged for at 30.00 for the night.

So there are tons of added expenses not covered. Not overly impressed. I probably wouldn't go back. This is my 3rd time in 7 years and I keep giving it the benefit of the doubt.

Perfect short stay at the Matrix
Pros:

2 night stay at the Matrix. Arrived at 2 am to a Warm reception, clean, quiet & perfect room. Delicious food and ample breakfast, Great price. Made for an ideal base on my short stay in Edmonton.

Second time stay
Pros:

This is our second stay at the Matrix. This time we did not have a vehicle, the parking area is very restrictive for a large vehicle and there were some issues with transients the first time. This time we took a cab and things were great. The hotel is clean and fresh, might be getting a bit dated in the rooms as ours didn’t have the usual array of USB type ports, still the bed was great and the cleaning staff did a great job. We had breakfast at the buffet for three days, tickets are a bit cheaper if you buy them in advance at the front desk. Food was fresh and a good basic assortment was available, coffee was very good. There is a Starbucks right outside the front door if you are so inclined. It was easy walking distance to our appointment and a few other shops we went to. All staff we met were friendly and extremely helpful. We will stay here again.
