I had a terrible experience with staff, they assumed I am a native ( which I am but also American) and refused to serve me alcohol without seeing my passport of course I flipped out , they called the manager ( Mr. Aymen) who was a horrible condescending individual who tried to feed me some BS excuse about the law requires them to see and copy my passport to serve me alcohol. anyway, the general manager was made aware and immediately apologized and was very helpful, but this definitely left a bad taste.
We've stayed at the Waldorf in Cairo on a number of occasions, but have never been to Baaraa, which is the bar adjacent to the lifts, simply because, there's never been anyone in there. When we visited this time, we decided to give it a go, and were welcomed by the manager, Mohammed Ragab. The young lads who served us, Zachariah and Mohammed, were very attentive and diligent, in serving us, keeping our glasses
topped up with drinks and nuts, brought to the table. Unfortunately at Ramadan, the shelves are stripped of alcohol, but this doesn’t detract from the ambience and Colonial feel to the bar. They offer a wide selection of drinks and an excellent selection of freshly made cocktails, along with good Egyptian bar snacks. All of the staff, including the manager, as I mentioned very attentive, and polite, and certainly earned their money.
If it’s snack food you want, with a definite Egyptian twist and flavour, to compliment your wine, beer, or cocktails, then this is the place to go.
Our time was wonderful here at the Waldorf. Everyone was absolutely terrific and George always went above and beyond for myself and family each and every time we went to the pool. My son was thrilled each and every time we went swimming. I will highly recommend this hotel to others.
Fantastic property with even more amazing service! The staff was great and the attention to detail by all team members was next level. Was a great experience and looking forward to my next visit to this property! Highly recommend this hotel and hospitable staff.
Visit Bar Raa, talk with Mohammed, great little jazz area.
Mohammed at Bar Raa did an excellent job serving me and my family. The drinks we're delicious.
We had our annual Ramadan iftar and the service from Mr Ali bassiouny and the team was impeccable.
The food quality and the variety was absolutely great.
It was an amazing experience and kind hospitality and interesting podium
The Waldorf Astoria Cairo was a great experience emphasizing modern luxury. We were welcomed upon check in with a beautiful atrium, updated rooms, and warm service.
The room was comfortable and gave us everything needed. They had an amazing Spa area and a wonderful hotel gym. The restaurant food was delicious. Bar Raa and the outdoor poolside bar were a pleasure. My only complaint would be that it seemed the wait staff at the restaurants were quite young and abrasive at times and also had a language barrier. I completely understand this being in a different country and maybe some staff were training, and there was nothing that truly upset me. Another suggestion is ensuring the jacuzzi is heated as it was colder than the pool when we visited. I’m sure the staff is learning and the hotel will continue to provide amazing service given due time. The bar and restaurant managers were wonderful, especially the three Mohammed’s at Bar Raa and the wonderful manager at Ayda from Texas.
Special shoutout to George and the staff at the poolside bar who provided for us very well. Great drinks from the bar staff and impeccable service by George who ran around for us and looked out constantly for us to be comfortable.
Overall, great hotel in a very convenient location near the airport. A wonderful experience indeed.
