Very nice
Nothing
Breakfasts were a treat. The chef was so lovely, and she was keen to get us to try different things. The waiting staff were lovely, too. The hotel is beautiful, soundproof, and housekeeping was immaculate. We had a 4 night stay to visit museums and pyramids, and it worked out very well with the help of the Uber app. We knew our days would be full-on and planned to stay in at night and to eat in the restaurant, but.......
.........we didn't realise our stay would be during Ramadan, and understandably, the restaurant catered for that with an evening buffet (local dishes). We could only order from the menu after 9 pm, which would be too late for us. So we had the buffet for one night, then after that we ate at the pool, which did serve a choice of good bar food, but closed at 6. The staff at the pool are lovely too.
Totally Disappointed after being such a long term loyal customer.
New or recently remodelled accommodations, nice large rooms. Friendly, young somewhat inexperienced staff. Location near airport.
- Wifi stops within the hallway between 2 hotels although same chain.
- Rental car company prices totally & ridiculously high.
- Staff inexperience in some areas.
After ten days in the Egyptian hinterlands, it was wonderful to come to this hotel - comfy bed, clean, hot water and lots of it, totally quiet room, safe and secure facility, and kind and conscientious staff - just what we needed. With several restaurants to choose from, we had a nice variety of meal options. Staying here was a real treat!
Breakfast is one of a kind!!!
It is a very close blend of local cuisine and specilities along with world class continental tastes.
Special thanks to the chef Ameer for the fresh juice and extra attention and care!
I had a terrible experience with staff, they assumed I am a native ( which I am but also American) and refused to serve me alcohol without seeing my passport of course I flipped out , they called the manager ( Mr. Aymen) who was a horrible condescending individual who tried to feed me some BS excuse about the law requires them to see and copy my passport to serve me alcohol. anyway, the general manager was made aware and immediately apologized and was very helpful, but this definitely left a bad taste.
We've stayed at the Waldorf in Cairo on a number of occasions, but have never been to Baaraa, which is the bar adjacent to the lifts, simply because, there's never been anyone in there. When we visited this time, we decided to give it a go, and were welcomed by the manager, Mohammed Ragab. The young lads who served us, Zachariah and Mohammed, were very attentive and diligent, in serving us, keeping our glasses
topped up with drinks and nuts, brought to the table. Unfortunately at Ramadan, the shelves are stripped of alcohol, but this doesn’t detract from the ambience and Colonial feel to the bar. They offer a wide selection of drinks and an excellent selection of freshly made cocktails, along with good Egyptian bar snacks. All of the staff, including the manager, as I mentioned very attentive, and polite, and certainly earned their money.
If it’s snack food you want, with a definite Egyptian twist and flavour, to compliment your wine, beer, or cocktails, then this is the place to go.
