The Westin Beijing Chaoyang

I am currently staying at this property and was quite quiet when I checked in. The Hotel will close this Saturday, March 14th, for an extensive renovation. I was told Westin will not be the operator when it reopens but still a Bonvoy property.

There was literally no one at the check in desk or any living person in the lobby when I walked in the door yesterday. A person did pop out beyond the wall as I got closer. She checked me in and upgraded me to a one bedroom suite on the 9th floor as a Bonvoy Titanium member.

The room was clean and stocked. A welcome fruit platter and free sodas and beer were offered. They did a turn down service that evening The lounge on the 32nd floor is closed so they were using the restaurant on the 2nd floor.

Breakfast , the next morning was surreal . I was the only person, besides the servers, in the vast restaurant . I was provided a paper menus with a Chinese/Western options. No buffet was offered, which is understandable. The server told me I was the only person to shown up this morning.

They provided all the services to me and besides the restaurant breakfast , everything was being run as a full service Westin property.

Had a business trip to Beijing, i stayed in this area many times at the Hilton on the other side of the street. This hotel is a better location wise at its basically on top of the metro entrance / exit. Else i would use google maps etc to see anything else, hotels cant move or change what is near by :).

Check-in experience was really disappointing for a hotel of this quality in Beijing, hardly any of the staff can speak any English on Sunday at 1pm. They kept trying to give excuses until i called a local friend who had to resolve the whole situation. While I was waiting for the friend in the lounge I saw numerous other guests have issues with the lack of English with some choice words being used which I dont think where understood by the staff.

Lounge is a nice place, great views and nice atmosphere, breakfast area is really dated. The chairs are damaged, and not one or 2 but nearly everyone. However the selection of food is good. The dated experience spans to the bedroom as well with a musty smell present, but the room did have a nice view.

If you dont mind a place thats feeling its age then its ok, else go across the street if you want this area.

Good location, just above a MTR station that goes through line 10, with easy transfers to major shopping or attractions. One can also use the same line to reach the Daxing airport or the airport rail.

Customer service was great, attending to requests and keeping the area clean as per Marriott standard. Like how the attendants are thoughtful to details and cleanliness too.

Breakfast was a good spread with a mix of American, Chinese and Japanese. One good part compared to many hotels of the same tier is the space, where you won’t be short of seats.

Lastly, love the spaciousness of the gym which separates the cardio and strength training area.

Great hotel with astonishing entrance and cool bar. Room was amazing and massive with a view all over Beijing. Staff was very nice. Highly recommend it

The rooms were modern, spacious, and very comfortable. The breakfast offered a great variety with something for everyone. The gym was excellent, fully equipped with everything needed, and I even noticed a training class during my stay. Guests could also choose between a steam sauna and a dry sauna, and I especially appreciated the dry sauna

Excellent hotel I can’t object

We liked it was somewhat near the airport and breakfast was very good. But beware, they wanted to charge us 900 CNY for a airport shuttle, while a taxi only cost us 47 CNY!! nearly 20 times as much!!

The room was very large and the bathroom was good as well.
Breakfast was also really good, highly recommend you include it in your booking.

Staff knew basic English and also offer possibility to drop off luggage.
