What a wonderful hotel!
What a welcome!
Personal, friendly, great rooms, and three hot tubs.
Very interesting recommendations for little excursions out and about.
The cuisine and restaurant are top-notch. Make a pick from the menu, you can't go wrong. The wolf fish is highly recommended. But also the burgers and lamb and all — Icelandic cuisine at its best. The brilliant chef also offers the famous Icelandic shark. With schnapps. Don't miss it!!!
And in the evening, head to the very cozy bar, which was very successfully converted from a gym. Drinks, music, and atmosphere - so nice!
Don't miss it!
Been there twice - for good reason.
An Icelandic gem-stone.
Thank you, Runar Thor!
Reception was friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We had dinner in their restaurant. We ordered the beef tenderloin with broccoli, mushrooms in a Dijon mustard sauce, a beet root purée and baby potatoes. It was delicious! The breakfast buffet was good with a variety of items offered.
We used the out door hot tubs and found the water temperature to be satisfactory. Very nice after a day of driving.
The staff were wonderful.
Easy parking, comfortable bed and pillows.
We enjoyed the hot tubs outside. We were given robes to use. We had a delightful meals at restaurant having cod, lamb burger, creme brulee, bakki special, wine and a beer. The service was superb.
The room was spotless, way bigger than expected.
Good sized triple room, clean and refreshing. Happy hour and a dinner menu featuring fish and lamb (local ingredients). Hot tubs available.
Great location just off the ring road, Friendly and helpful staff. Dinner (lamb burgers) were good and breakfast had the best options we have had so far over nine days. Room was a good size and robes were provided if you wanted to use the hot tub.
However, the shower pressure was weak, at least in our second floor room, and the hand held shower head wouldn't stay up in its holder (for those not wanting a rain fall shower over their head), also towels were fraying and not soft, disappointing for the price paid.
Nice
Out in the middle of nowhere but was what we needed.
Room was very comfortable. Breakfast had one of the largest varieties we’ve experienced on our trip. Enjoyed the hot tubs in the rain.
This property has several buildings, none have any signage. Receptionist only showed us map where building was, very difficult to find in the dark. Only found building due to employees exiting another building who told us they "thought" which building we were staying in. Room was awful, 2 twin beds that you could not put together, felt like we were back in a dorm room, and prices were not in line with facilities. Only the bare necessities. Only redeeming grace was breakfast. Would not recommend this property.
Stayed here during our 9 day / 7 hotel tour of Iceland - this hotel ranks as our 6th favourite (note this hotel had stiff competition).
Site is a bit isolated but handy being just off the ring road. A good breakfast was the highlight.
Our room (303) was not ideally sited as other guests walk right up to the window before coming to the main door of the block ... felt like a bit of a privacy issue to be honest.
Room was immaculately clean
.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this property. The room was comfortable with unique layout.
Basic business hotel . Sofa beds are not comfortable
It was a lovely hotel, very clean and beautiful room. The dinner and breakfast were excellent.
Driving around HIghway 1 is tedious. THis is a good hotel to use as an overnight stop. Hots tubs out the front and a decent restaurant. Rooms are in good consition but watch out for the plastic mattress topper. Very dated shower curtain in my room that clings to you when you are in the shower.
This property is probably transitioned from a school, but that does not impact any of the service that you would expect from a hotel. We booked a family room, very spacious. There’s not much going on in the area and it might be the only location you can get a decent sit down meal. By all saying that, food in the restaurant is high quality. I ordered sheep fillet, 5 stars!
Wonderful hotel in a perfect location. Plenty of parking and kind staff. There is a restaurant as well that serves complimentary breakfast. You have the option to have dinner there as well. Plenty of variety. Rooms are spacious including a tv, small table, shower, etc. Rooms were excellent. Very close drive to Hvammanstangi to see the seals! Thanks so much!
