Great stay at the Sumaq. Fantastic service from Cecilia at Dinner and Lunch
The hotel is in ideal location.
Cecelia, our server was vibrant, friendly l, and knowledgeable about the menu. She remembered us from meal to meal and was patient with my broken Spanish.
We were looked after beautifully by Andree in the restaurant. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Our trip to Machu Picchu was wonderful in part due to our decision to stay at the Sumaq Hotel. We highly recommend this boutique hotel at the edge of the pueblo. Although the room rate seemed expensive when we booked our trip, the half-board plan and outstanding service made it a great value. Deybi and his colleague met us at the train station when we arrived from Urubamba. He escorted us to the ticket office to purchase an additional circuit for the next day at Machu Picchu. He helped us select the best available circuit and entry time based on our schedule. He also offered to book a private guide - Rodrigo - to accompany us on Circuit 2. With our Machu Picchu tickets in hand, Deybi escorted us to the park bus depot where we purchased two round-trip tickets for $24 US each. This saved us a lot of time the next day since we did not need to stand in line. Finally, Deybi escorted us to the beautiful Sumaq Hotel, a short distance from the center of the pueblo. Deybi’s colleague had carried our two backpacks to the hotel while we were purchasing our tickets. Because we prepaid for our room, as required by the hotel, the check-in process was a breeze. We relaxed in the beautiful lobby and enjoyed Muna tea while Deybi reviewed the details for our upcoming day in Machu Picchu.
In summary, we had a wonderful trip to Machu Picchu, despite the afternoon rain, in large part due to the personalized service we received from Deybi, Rodrigo and other staff at the Sumaq Hotel.
We had a couples massage and had a very relaxing time. Eva and Sonia are super professional, kind and did an excellent job!
Great location and very clean
Beautiful, comfortable hotel with above and beyond service. They met us at the train station and Freddy carried both our heavy bags to the hotel where they stored them till we checked in, and then stored them again the next day when he brought them back to the station in time for our departing train. The food and service were excellent and all the staff were friendly and kind. We would definitely stay again if we return to Mschu Picchu.
The attention of Milagros and her crew was outstanding, we really recommend the place and experience. The food was amazing, we really love it!
Jorge gave us a fantastic demonstration on how to prepare ceviche. He gave us great instructions and help if we do not have the exact Peruvian ingredients.
Excellent presentation by Jorge in the preparation of ceviche. Precise measurements, clear description of ingredients, and concise directions resulted in a professional, easy to follow demonstration. The resulting taste of the ceviche was very flavorful.
Jorge’s demonstration on how to make ceviche was fantastic, and it taste 👅 great so good. He was very eloquent, explained everything in a way that was easy to follow. I am very happy I attended his demonstration.
The chef is amazing! Everything we ordered was excellent! And the service provided by Cecilia was the best that we have seen in years!
Excellent hotel with an ideal location. Outstanding service offered at the reception and at the restaurant. Breakfast was incredible with many fresh options. Cecilia and Emerson did a great job presenting the dishes and taking care of us.
Very good food. Standard high though during low season. Attentive and excellent service by Andree who was charming.
Lunch at Sumaq was simply delicious! From our greeting by our waiter, Johann, to his assistance describing the menu items, to the timing of bringing food to the table, everything was superb. Thanks to Johann for such a wonderful experience.
Great hotel and we had lovely meals at the restaurant and great service from Cecilia and Andree
Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel — a wonderful lunch experience made even better by Andree and Cecilia, who were attentive and professional throughout. The Peruvian-style chicken stir fry was full of flavour, the homemade chicken soup was comforting and beautifully prepared, and the Amazonian cheesecake was a standout finish. Thoughtful service paired with excellent food in a truly special setting.
Conforme à nos attentes
La atención del personal. El excelente desayuno.
La relación precio calidad del restaurant no me pareció la mejor. Entiendo que Machu Pichu pueblo tiene particularidades.
We recently stayed at the Sumaq hotel as a group of 6 friends and had a pleasant experience. The staff was helpful and kind, big shout out to my massage therapist Mary and our waitress at the hotel restaurant Cecilia. Both were amazing and friendly, super helpful. So why the 3 stars? The hotel is clean but it just needs an update. Hoping this feedback comes across as constructive more than anything. For example, the room we stayed in had 2 night stands but you couldn’t open the closet fully because it was blocked by the nightstand. Maybe they need smaller night stands? Also the bathroom had carpet on a step up stair to the tub/shower? Just doesn’t seem sanitary, I’m sure there’s a better solution. The tub has some sort of body mold in it so when you’re showering you lose footing sometimes which isn’t relaxing. With some thoughtful updates this place could really shine hence the 3 star rating. The people are amazing but it doesn’t quite make up for the overall experience.
