Naturally, that it’s on the beach!🏝️
Even though their dog friendly, there weren’t any outdoor areas designated for them. No waste stations with bags.
The property itself is tired. The building is worn although there was one sign I saw that they were doing improvements although I didn’t see any evidence of that.
I didn’t find the front desk staff overly friendly or helpful. I had to go back to the desk ask for my pool band after I checked in, when I saw that everyone had one on. They were helpful on texting before I checked in and they were reliable to getting back quickly, but once there, I wasn’t impressed except for Jeff the head bell man who was amazing.
Ocean front. Everything else is secondary
Nice an clean
The location!
The balcony, no seating
Loved the convenience of this hotel! The beach access & pool is a great option. Being walking distance to restaurants & shops is also a plus.
This hotel desperately needs some updates. Only 1 working elevator, subpar cleanliness in the rooms (mold in the bathroom), no exhaust fan in bathrooms, and normal wearing of the years is visible
I have stayed at Tides Folly Beach Hotel three times since Fall 2023, and it has easily become my favorite place for a beach getaway. After my first visit, I returned in Spring 2024 and again in Fall 2025—and I’m already planning another trip this fall.
There’s just something special about this hotel. It perfectly captures the beach vibe I’m always looking for, while also meeting my expectations for cleanliness and comfort. What truly sets it apart, though, is the staff—everyone is consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which makes every stay feel even more enjoyable.
The location is fantastic, the amenities are great, and the overall experience is always top-notch. I’ve stayed at many resorts over the years, but I really appreciate the simplicity and quaint charm here. It never feels overwhelming—just relaxing and exactly what I need.
Another huge plus is that it’s pet-friendly, so I can bring my toy poodle along, which makes the trip even more special.
While my family enjoys summer vacations along the Gulf, this is the place I choose when it’s up to me. If I could visit multiple times a year, I absolutely would. I can’t recommend Tides Folly Beach Hotel enough!
We can not stayed there the hotel was in a poor condition, for that price it was incredible they people can stay there, we want to have a reimbursement of the 239 that we paid
It was a disaster, the hotel is a really poor condition, you should take this hotel from booking, we are clients of booking but this time we are disappointed about the experience that we have there, and we only stayed 20 minutes
Staff friendly
Amazed of the number of dogs. A little rowdy at times. Elevator not working
The rooms was clean
Seems to be outdated, but remodeling was going on.
Well I have to say we stayed here before and it was fantastic in 2025. This year I brought a group and as very disappointed.. the elevators were out at least once a day causing two of our friends In Their 60’s to have to take the stairs to the 6th and 7th floor.. the housekeeping you had to flag down or go to the front desk because they didn’t clean the rooms.. the outdoor patio lights were all out and I requested the repair as we were all playing cards and couldn’t see.. they were sending someone asap.. well we went to bed, woke up, and still not working. Nobody showed..The best thing they have going is the front desk staff who were all fabulous!! For the cost way to expensive for no responses!
I am extremely disappointed with our stay and nobody from management reached out during this time or after. During our stay the elevator (one elevator because the other is not operational) kept going down and I was with my physically handicapped child and no one reached out to see if we were ok. My daughter kept having to climb 4 flights of stairs in pain. My daughter has Cerebral Palsy and wears full leg braces to assist her walking and has pins and plates in both her knees which makes stairs extremely uncomfortable and difficult to navigate. This hotel needs serious repairs and should not be falsely advertising themselves as a luxury beach hotel with easy access and renovated rooms. It is not. I sent the front desk staff pictures I took of the room, which was in serious disrepair. The room had outlets with no covers on them, a extension cord plugged into a lamp that was had frying marks on it like it had almost caught fire, the furniture was all banged up, the mattress was incredibly hard and worn and made spring coil noises every time you moved on it, the sliding glass door didn’t open as someone had broken off the handle and I could see the handle sitting on the balcony outside. No housekeeping ever came the entire four days that we were staying there. And the worst part was the elevators that did not work. When we arrived, one elevator was already out of service and we were told by the front desk it had been down a month, but no one told us until we got there. The other other elevator kept going down every day for hours at a time which would trap us upstairs or downstairs because it was so difficult for my daughter to navigate the stairs. It was one of the worst vacations we have ever had, all because of this hotel and the dilapidation of it. I will never stay there again, or recommend it to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The location is great but the hotel not so much! There is easy access to the beach and pier but not your room! We had to carry our bags down from the 7th floor! We stayed one night and the elevator was serviced twice while we were there. The second elevator has been out of service for a long time. Our room was clean and the staff were very nice but overall the hotel is very run down. It needs a total makeover.
