Very expensive for the experience. Was given a plastic cup that was cracked almost all the way up with a drink in it at
Pros:

On the beach, staff were very friendly.

Cons:

Very run down, paint peeling off door in bathroom. Very noisy air conditioning. Streets were dug up, lots of big machines in the road, streets blocked off and roads were confusing.

It felt cheap. The toilet paper. The Towels. The pillows and bedding. Charging that price for a “resort style” hotel is insane. Basically paid for beach access

Best short stay I’ve had in decades!
Pros:

The proximity to so many shops, restaurants, and the ocean view.

Cons:

It was expensive but after staying there it was wasn’t as much of an issue because it was a very nice place to stay!

Too Many Dogs
Pros:

Most hotels restrict pets to a certain floor but Tides will put them anywhere. People leave their dogs in the room for hours while they go out and the noise can be loud as there is no carpeting. The restaurant food wasn’t very good and no breakfast service. Next time we will rent a beach house.

Disappointing Room, Great Location
Pros:

Location cannot be beat, Center St, next to the Pier and Oceanfront. From what I’ve read some rooms have been updated and the lobby and attached restaurant, Pinky’s is beautiful! Pool was clean and heated. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was extremely dated.

The bathroom was nice and clean, but no ventilation which lead to every surface in the bathroom to be wet after showering.

The room itself was very dated. There was a drawer in the dresser that wouldn’t stay shut, one of the chairs was torn up and the table was damaged. The curtains were stained and had burn holes in them. The sheets were rough and when checking for bed bugs the mattress cover was deteriorating and flaking off on the underside on both beds.

We have stayed on Folly for years and decided to give Tides a try. I was very disappointed, especially as a single mom saving for a yearly vacation at such a high nightly rate at 1000$ for a weekend. If the rooms had the same renovation as the lobby and downstairs it would be amazing.

Note that the hotel charges taxes and fees at the end of your stay and a 100$ deposit for each day you are there.

If you are looking to go for a pool, sure. Otherwise there are many great Oceanfront Airbnbs at the same rate.

Beautiful Day for the Stay

Hotel needs to to be updated!
Pros:

Rooms not clean . Had to clean floors my self . Not English speaking maid staff. The money I was charged should be clean at least .

Tides on Folly Beach is no good
Pros:

Old dated hotel in disrepair. Room smelled of cleaning fluid or air freshener. We left the sliders open for hours and the odor did not go away.
Hallways dirty. Grout in shower was dirty and curtains had stains.
No food or beverage available on site after 9:30 pm and no mini bar.
Poor value. This place is not worth the high price they are charging.
Would strongly not recommend.

The only thing good about this hotel was the location. It reminded me more of a 3 star motel vs a nice hotel. The price

The beds were very uncomfortable and hard. The room was pretty outdated and dingy. The refrigerator was leaking everywhere. The lamp shades had visible rust. The floors were filthy and the bottom of our feet were black. We asked the staff twice for a microwave in our room, They promised to bring it but never did.
