This is an old HI, but as good as it could be. Great breakfast and nice staff.
Pros:

Although the room was tired and the mattress was at the end of its useful life, the room was as clean as it could be. Having an inner room, overlooking a grassy area, would have been better than a road facing room.

The staff and breakfast were excellent.

Cons:

The mattress was soft and knackered.

The room and bathroom were tired and it needs redecorating to deal with peeling wallpaper.

Proactiveness of the staff in trying to resolve various issues.

Cons:

When we arrived the kind receptionist (who knows us as we have been here a few times), changed our room because it was facing the roadside to a quieter room. Unfortunately when we went to our new room it was being decorated. We returned to the reception and got allocated a room upgrade. (Plus 1,000 points on our IHG account) which was very nice. When going to bed I pulled back the duvet to find two blood marks on it. I didn't tell anyone till the following morning but took photo graphic evidence.

On the second day of our stay our electronic card keys would not let us into the room. Six times the cards were recharged and new batteries put in. Still they would not let us in. We were given complimentary drinks whilst waiting. The Manager came to our room and his card key worked. So once again the receptionist (Frankie, who was very helpful) went back the charge the card. Still no luck. As this was our last night the Manager (Jonny) decided that if we were going out that a member of staff would accompany us back to our room and open the door.

We later went swimming and Frankie took us back to our room after having to wait (complimentary drinks guven again) as the other receptionist had to help another customer) and he couldn't leave the reception.

Checking in took us a long time. The room didn’t have any amenities. Housekeeping rang the door two times before 10am.

We needed a hotel which provided food and a bed for one night, and we were not disappointed.
Pros:

The property was located close to the motorway.
It had everything we needed for an overnight stay. It had an abundance of parking, the room we had was extremely clean, as was the reception area, dining and bar areas.

Pros:

Check in was strightforward and the staff were friendly when we checked in.

Cons:

There was incredibly loud music playing unitl 2am. We were not warned about this and we were staying here for work so needed to be well rested for the following day.
