Excellent customer service, great value with beach views.
Pros:

Free continental breakfast for the lower floor rooms. The fresh waffles were my favorite! They also had 1 night with wine and cheese hour for all guests!

Cons:

The rooms were clean and comfortable, but could use a little updating.

Not terrible, not amazing, just ok.

Location is great, staff helpful and friendly

Cons:

A little rough around the edges, showing its age. Room was spacious, although as a result the cooling was inconsistent, struggling to maintain an even temperature. Room was near the pool and lobby which was convenient but also noisy, especially when the lobby doors closed

My husband and I were unable to spend any nights at the Tamarack Beach Hotel. In addition to the fact that the room was run down, the air conditioning did not work. Hotel staff brought in a portable AC unit, but there was no venting of the exhaust to the outdoors, so it just circulated the hot air from the back. The room went from 75 degrees around 4:00 p.m. when we checked in to 77 degrees when we returned from the event we were in the Carlsbad area for. After the portable AC was in the room, the temperature went up to 79 degrees at 11:00 p.m. at night when it was cooler outside. After speaking to the front desk for the third time about the problem, we asked to leave and were given permission by the man behind the counter on 10/10/2026. The man at the front desk said we would receive a full refund from Booking.com, but when I called Booking.com tonight, they had no knowledge of a pending refund.

Walk across the street to the beach! Secure parking !
Access to not one but 2 hot tubs and the swimming pool!

They did provide robes in the rooms but they were one the small size.
