Honestly i enjoyed my stay the place is clean calm and very close to the beach the staff were friendly and room comfortable
Honestly, such a good experience! The place is beautiful th atmosphere is calm, and the staff is really professional. I enjoyed my stay from beginning to end. Definitely a place worth remembering
Honestly, i loved it! Everything was great clean, peacefly, and it's welcoming. The staff were super friendly, and it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy your time. Definitely recommend
We booked a 10-day stay at the Mahari Hotel in Tunisia, advertised as a 5-star resort. However, upon arrival, it became immediately apparent that the hotel falls significantly short of that rating. Based on our experience, we would struggle to rate it even as a 2.5-star facility.
Here are the issues we encountered:
• No tea or coffee making facilities were available in the room, which is a basic expectation for a 5-star hotel.
• The telephone in our room did not work, making it impossible to request room service—only to be told later that room service was not available, despite it being listed as a facility on the hotel’s description.
• The air conditioning was broken, leaving the room hot and uncomfortable throughout the stay.
• A piece of plastic was found in the bed after housekeeping had cleaned the room, raising concerns about the overall cleanliness and hygiene.
• A shelf under the television fell off the wall multiple times, posing a safety risk.
• We were moved to a different room, but the new room was no better—air conditioning was still not working, the balcony door handle was hanging off, and the same issue with the shelf occurred again.
Additionally, my husband has a severe milk allergy, which we made clear. However, the hotel staff offered no support or suitable alternatives, and most of the food was either cooked in butter or contained milk powder, making it impossible for him to eat safely.
We also felt very unsafe during our stay in Tunisia, with extremely aggressive sales tactics from vendors both inside and outside the hotel, creating an uncomfortable and intimidating environment.
All issues were brought to the attention of the reception staff
Due to these issues, we were forced to cut our honeymoon short, checking out after just 5 days and arranging our own flight home through another airline at additional expense. We had no choice but to leave, as the conditions were unacceptable and the staff unhelpful in resolving any of our concerns.
This trip was meant to be a celebration of our marriage—an unforgettable and joyful experience. Instead, it has left us both incredibly upset and disheartened. Given the significant difference between what was advertised and the reality of our experience, I am requesting a refund for the 5 unused nights of our stay, and reimbursement for the costs incurred in arranging our early departure.
I am still awaiting a reply from love holidays and a reply from Hotel Mehari
Honestly, no complaints at all the stay was excellent from start to finish the place is clean the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is really relaxing I would definitely come back
Weather excellent. Lots of sun
Food was fair, lots of fish and lamb. Staff all very friendly and nice to interact with. It was however the end of season and lots of places were looking very quiet and run down. Ideal for winter sun. Great pool
Honestly such a great stay the place is clean calm and really camfortable the staff were kind thé beach was beautiful and the whole atmosphere was perfect for relaxing. I honestly loved it
Lovely stay! Everything was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. The staff were kind, the beach was beautiful, and the whole place felt perfect for a relaxing getaway
Wonderful experience! The atmosphere was calm, the service was excellent, and the beach was the highlight of my trip. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy a smooth holiday by the sea
I had the best time. Absolutely brilliant. The staff are amazing, I’ve made good friends with Moayed, zied, Isham and the young lad in the restaurant who looked after me every day , the lovely guy in the bar I can’t remember his name; he called me his best friend, every day. every single one of them. You have been absolutely fantastic and I thank you all so much for looking after me for the two weeks and I’m looking forward to keeping in touch with you.
Now. The hotel. The hotel is gorgeous, however, it isn’t a 5 star hotel and shouldn’t be advertised as such. It is a very very good 3 star . My stay and experience however was 5 star and I’ve given a 5 star rating. Luckily for me it was perfect and it was a really cheap price for 2 weeks all inclusive. That doesn’t reflect on the staff though who are absolutely outstanding. The food is delicious, I had something nice to eat every single day. The drinks are amazing, freshly made coffee, of which I drink many, made to order at the bar. The room was lovely I had a sea view room, lovely fresh, clean, modern, some parts of the hotel need a scrub up, the pool could do with a good clean, algae on the tiles. Over all I had the most fantastic holiday and I am coming back again next year. I can’t wait. Highly recommended.
All in all it’s a very good hotel for what we paid, the staff were very friendly and professional, the food was of decent quality.
First time in Tunisia and we absolutely loved it. The hotel is OK. Agree with other reviews, it's definitely not 5*. It's OK for what we paid though and definitely feel we got our money's worth.
Good points: Lovely staff (mostly), especially the entertainment team. Pika, Lawra and Hazem were just so friendly and really gorgeous people. A special mention also to Mohammed, a Waiter in the buffet area. He was always ready to help me learn new Arabic words.
The rooms were nice enough, comfy beds, nice bathroom, decent enough patio area with a lovely sea view.
Food was pretty decent. So much to choose from, we always found something we enjoyed eating.
The Beach is beautiful. You do get hassled quite a bit by guys trying to sell stuff, but just say No and they generally go away.
The Spa: we booked the spa and paid £60 each. We had four treatments (3 hours), it was amazing. Well worth the money. We literally came back to our room after and fell asleep for two hours as we were that relaxed.
Bad points: NO AIR CONDITIONING! Apparently it was turned off 1/10 for some reason? Temperature ranged from 25-31c during our stay. Because it was so noisy outside, we had to keep the patio door shut, making it very difficult to sleep. Suggest you bring a mini fan.
Alcohol is disgusting! Especially the wine, it's definitely all watered down.
Nice friendly environment with lots of entertainment for all ages very good quality food with the beach close by clean rooms with lots of space for many people would 100% come again
This was my first trip to Tunisia, I travelled with an open mind and the Mehari turned out to the perfect hotel choice for us.
Our room - we booked a seaview room and we were very pleased. The room was modern and tiled floors throughout (I was aware of some rooms having carpet, tile is my preference due to allergies). The bed was very comfortable, linen was clean. Plenty of space in the room, good amount of storage, lovely clean modern bathroom. The balcony was a fine size and the view from the second floor was lovely, overlooking the pool and across to the beach.
The food - we were very pleasant surprised by the amount of choices at EVERY sitting. We are both happy to try new things, the only thing we don’t eat is fish. Pasta, pizza, grilled meats, Tunisian dishes such as cous cous and meat stews available. Large salad bar, very fresh and with cold cuts of meat and cheese also.
Desserts were lovely, lots of cakes to choose from and well presented. Ice cream and some days donuts fried to order. Fruit available too.
Breakfast was also good - egg station, continental options such as pastries, cold meats. Yogurts and fruits, cereals, tea and coffee. Various hot dishes also and fresh fruit juices.
The STAFF - the staff at this hotel make a stay very special and I hope management reward them well for their hard work. Everywhere in the hotel, from the reception, to the restaurant and the bar downstairs are so friendly, welcoming and hard working. We enjoyed so many chats throughout our stay.
The cleaning staff are also very hard working and pleasant and stopped by our room daily to make sure all was in order.
The location of the hotel is perfect, right next to the beach and not a long drive from Enfidha airport. The medina is just a few minutes walk away if you leave from the back entrance. The marina is also lovely and a nice walk down the beachfront road.
We booked quad biking trip at the desk in the lobby and we had a fantastic time. Well maintained bikes and lovely trip guides who provided great photos and videos for a small xtra fee.
We also visited El Jem and Kairouan Mosque with a private driver we booked on Viator and had a great day - quite a bit of driving but a great way to see more of Tunisia and it’s fantastic history.
Thank you to all Mehari staff for a wonderful trip. We will definitely be back!
This hotel is a waste of money and It’s absolutely beyond me how they maintain this “5-star review”. The service here is horrible and so dismissive! I don’t know if it’s because there is some sort of prejudice system but servers here literally told my family we couldn’t sit at certain tables (the nicer tables with a view) with no explanation but when a white family came along? “Go right ahead!”
They don’t even clean the rooms nicely, they’ll maybe replace the bins and make the bed poorly but that’s it, they don’t replace the toilet paper or restore shampoo or body wash unless you ask for it and even then you have to ask repeatedly! Bringing me to another point, this hotel is so tight! They don’t turn the lights on in the halls, the AC doesn’t even work and the “fridge” isn’t even a fridge! It’s essentially just another cabinet seeing as it’s not cold at all. You have to ask for the basic things to be turned on and even then they don’t turn it on.
The food here is also so terrible. It’s so repetitive and bland, stay here for a week and I wouldn’t even be shocked if you dropped a kg or two. It’s so unsanitary, flies all over the food all day everyday. You have to ask repeatedly just for a glass of water or a drink and servers take so long to clear tables! I may sound entitled but am I not paying for this service? I believe so.
Not only is the food unsanitary but there were cockroaches in this hotel! Multiple!!
Thank you to the two or three servers here who actually do their job to a decent standard, emphasis on “decent”.
Never have i experienced such incompetency in my life, and trust me—I’ve experienced some dark things.
Gorgeous hotel but horrible service.
There were entertainment day and night at the resort. Room size and views were good.”“My room was very large and spotlessly clean. I had requested a sea view, which also had a balcony … The staff were so welcoming and friendly … The restaurant was clean, well-staffed … I had a massage at the Thalasso spa, which was exceptional.”
I really enjoyed in my holiday I had a wonderful time with the entertainment team also the hotel have a really good view from the pool and the rooms are always clean and that’s the most things I like in mehari
My reviews are nothing but honest , inside the hotel ie rooms , reception ok but the restaurant is poor from a hygiene perspective around the hot food areas , salads etc fine , very slow at resetting tables and food is repetitive, pool area is awful the trip advisor reviews show well kept lawns around the pool and clean areas it’s basically patchy grassless areas and filthy walk ways , the beach is lovely within Mehari section and the sea is crystal clear and lovely to walk in , To recap the food is edible and the rooms are fine we won’t revisit Tunisia but it’s ticked off
We stayed here for 7 nights, visited sidi bou said, Tunis market, Carthage, Sousse, Kairoun, Colosseum etc. People are really nice, polite to tourists at places I have been even shopkeepers (apart restaurants where they expect you to order a meal for each otherwise they get upset). They will invite you to their shops but if you reject they won’t keep asking.
Now regarding hotel Mehari - for the starter no AC in any room as they turned them off due to cooler season (according to them) while it was around 28 - 31 degrees. Had to keep windows and patio door open for 24 hours to keep our room cooler which attracted mosquitoes and we weren’t prepared for these unwanted guests otherwise would have taken mosquito repellent to welcome them.
No internet in rooms.
Only two working lifts serving all guests.
One of my big issue was lack of refreshment facilities in the room. They call it 5 star but do not provide any facilities to make tea, coffees in the room. It comes with one small empty fridge with two bottles of water left outside the fridge. This is all you get in your room apart your bed and usual desk and mirror. A small locker without key and if you want to use locker, you have to get keys from reception. Even premier Inn has better facilities than this so called 5 star hotel.
On 2nd floor, hallway entrance to the floor is dark and kids are scared to walk alone in the evening. Out of 7 days they only turned them on twice while two big groups checked in as part of tour packages but then switched them off again.
Most staffs were nice only exception were the cook at the poor BBQ area who is frequently get annoyed if anyone re-order any food. Being a group of 9, two of us were ordering food for whole group but he gave us a look made us feel so awkward that we never been to BBQ after first day.
Bar staffs at the main lobby were really nice, hard working, seen them working everyday quietly and doing what they are supposed to do. Foods are repetitive but this is expected considering hotel’s conditions. Had really bad experience on the first night. We arrived around 10:30 pm and while checking in, reception staff kept our passports to record them and advised us to go on the first floor for meal while he does his admin work. While went to the restaurant, it was already closed and one member of staff opened the door and showed us buffet area where few fruits, salads and pastries were left. We didn’t mind to grab some quick bite but then saw that restaurant staff calling to reception staff angrily and telling them off in their language but few words and his expression were clearly indicated that he is telling them off for sending us to restaurant. Clearly a bad communication between teams and we got embarrassed.
Entertainment facilities were average which reflected management’s budget consciousness again.
Outdoor pool is small but okay for October, not too busy. Life guards could do better if they are off screen and more active around the pool.
Indoor pool is small and jacuzzi wasn’t turn on ever. While asked staff around pool they pointed us towards reception and didn’t bother to ask them as they may come with another excuse. Pool areas are dark and lights are centrally switched off. After shutting the door, it’s pitch black.
To summarise - I may comeback to Tunisia but not in Mehari if I be honest.
Arrived and was greeted at reception around 11:30 pm, we were asked if we wanted to eat, we said yes and went up to the first floor to the dining room before checking in. The dining room had very little to eat unless you wanted to eat flies. I do know that flies is not their problem but they were all over the food. Had a little bit of salad then went to check in.
Rooms- room was spacious but did need an upgrade decor wise. Bed was comfy with duvet and extra pillows. We had a sea view and the view was amazing. Down side to our room it was above the disco that was for the locals (we were told) out on the main street that went on till 4am, very noisy and even a fight broke out, with police in attendance.
Staff- Staff were amazing, couldn’t fault them, after 2 days they had drinks and a table ready for us. Always very polite and chatty.
Food- well what can I say, there was a good selection but every single day was the same, lunch and dinner. 90% of the time food was cold.
Pool area- needs a good upgrade around the pool, there were plenty of sun beds and cushion to lay on. The toilets at the pool side were smelly all the time.
Check out- we asked if there was anywhere to get freshened up, we’re told at the pool area at the smelly toilets!
