Family feel
We chose worst week to come as facilities limited due to festival snd life not working
The breakfast was ok
My kids liked it
The lift was very small hardly a wheelchair could fit in it
We struggled to get our children’s wheelchair in the lift and the doors were a reasonable size not very big
In the morning the lift broke down so we had to bring wheelchairs down the stairs which were dangerously heavy
To be honest I didn’t like nothing I usually book premier in but this time thought I change for better but found worse.
From reception hallways to the room it just stinks stains on beddings.. with the room smell we got used to it after we left.
During or when we left no one asked how was our stay.. not that they would have changed much….
another great holiday with daishes, all staff amazing Linda doing great job too, food hot tasty served with a smile, our room warm cosy , JULIE Jack on bar a credit ,can't wait to return , our coach driver Billie also excellent xx
I travelled with Edwards coaches for a 5day stay.My room 215 was large and warm. Everything worked from shower pressure, adequate hot water.I had a large smart tv,telephone, tea, kettle.Staff were all kind and receptionist from Weston and waiting staff worked hard and so willing to oblige. Food plentiful and good portions. Good menu. Close to town centre, beaches and a pharmacy and Tesco store closed by. Bus stops outside hotel and excellent frequent service to Newquay / Truro
Room dated, needed a good clean. Marks on skirting boards and dressing table should not have been there. Divan base old, at least could've been hidden with a valance. View from window into someone elses room so had to keep curtains closed for privacy, as did the other room. Where do I start with the food - boring choices, orange juice or cereal to start, but not both. No pastries or fruit allowed if cooked option chosen. Food passed across other guests rather than around them, no table linen, incorrect cutlery supplied, food plonked on the table before you have sat down, we were playing pass the parcel with some of the meals. Plates scraped into a bin bag hanging off a trolley at the side of the dining table, even if others were still eating. We came to dinner and the used sauce sachet was still on the table from breakfast. Carrots served raw one evening on a roast dinner, manager apologised to the room but should not have happened. I had soup starter and asked for another roll as I hadn't opted for a main course, and had to wait for the waitress to check if there was a spare one - please!!!! I'm too fed up to continue writing...
My advice, pay that bit extra and go to Newquay with Parry's, it's in a different class.
Great five day break love the swimming pool food was good room very clean and staff very friendly especially the manager Frank
Was on a Daishs coach holiday staying at Barrowfield Hotel. Staff were really helpful prior to us going and while we were there. We have mobility issues and at our request was given a ground floor room. Room was ideal for us, clean and serviced well during our stay. Meals were adequate with reasonable choice. Entertainment was OK, some better than others. Hotel is ideally situated with bus stops near by to various destinations. Views from cliff top at end of road were spectacular, and fairly easy walk to Newquay or bus if needed. Our only small complaint was they seemed short of staff at mealtimes, as you sometimes had to wait a while, plus on day of departure some visitors didn't have chance to eat breakfast as there wasn't enough time allocated before coach was leaving. Some food wasn't cooked very well, with soggy toast and vegetables either very under cooked or over cooked. Staff did their best to ensure meals were hot and delivered as quickly as possible but at times it was difficult for them, meaning wrong items delivered or unavailable, despite having to order prior to that day. Having said that I would return, but hope the Hotel can do further much needed refurbishment. Part of roof was being done while we were there, and parts of corridor to ground floor rooms was very wet due to obvious leak that had occurred, with towels soaking up water. Not staffs fault, and it was kept as safe as possible.
Many thanks to Frank Wilson and his team for a very enjoyable stay. Very approachable man and very honest. I would stay here again without hesitation
The recently fefurbished bed rooms are great, excellent choice of food can recommend the roasts there was plenty on your plate. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is also in a brilliant location for exploring either Newquay or the other Cornish towns the local busses are plentiful and can recommend.
However the hotel although refurbished is old and the lift was broken down more than it was working during our stay which makes life difficult for us oldies. This seems quite common across many DAISH hotels we've stayed, it's time DAISH upgraded or added new lifts to their hotels.
Also on level 3 where our room 305 is located there was a constant water dripping noise we reported this and we moved to room 319 but it was little better, we reported again to reception who said they had put in the maintenance book , we received no further information as to the cause of the noise and it was not fixed. So our sleep quality was poor. I would say to anyone booking this hotel to avoid level 3 other floors didn't seem affected.
Arrived 20th Sept.. Lift was working throughout 4 day stay, Food OK but I have had better, Room clean & comfortable, Pool warm but very Small, Drinks not extortionate in price, Entertainment hit or miss depending on your taste. Short walk to Cliff tops & 10 minutes to shops. Would I stay here again, probably not, there are other Hotels in Newquay a lot better than this one.. However it was value for the money paid..
Thoroughly enjoyable 4 night stay with Caledonian.
Hotel facilities were great and all staff friendly and helpful from the manager to serving staff.
Rooms were immaculately cleaned and towels changed whenever we needed.
The standard of the food was good and all served efficiently.
There were a few issues from time to time with the lift, but this didn't hamper our stay room was on the top floor and very spacious, had a sea view with all the usual amenities.
Hotel was centrally located with a 10 minute walk to town centre.
We would certainly recommend the Burrowfield and would be happy to stay here on a future trip.
We believe a lot of the recent negative comments to be unfair!!!
My tip is do not go! Went on a coach trip to Barrowfield on 23rd August for 8 days. The day before our trip we were advised that the lift was out of order! Apparently it seems the lift has been out of order for ages. They basically lied!
Most people were elderly. Luckily I was on the 1st floor being disabled. The room was basic. No fridge, no phone, broken filthy base of bed which I reported. Tiny TV. Dirty furniture. Tiny toilet. Room was always very hot due to old hot pipes. Banging 6am in the morning & evening. Chocolate melted! Food was very basic and tasteless. Same breakfast every morning. No fruit on offer. Had to ask for a yoghurt. Chefs special for example Bangers & Mash. Liver.
Worst food I have ever had in a hotel. The manager was sometimes very abrupt and rude. (Linda was lovely) Entertainment was bingo every night and different singer/so called comedians! Not very entertaining! Chairs were filthy! Best day was when we were leaving!
Stayed here from 8th September to 12th September. Not the best experience, but I will give praise to the staff in the dining room. Food ok and my room was very clean. However, we were on the 3rd floor and to venture 36 steps numerous times a day was daunting. The lift was out of order for the whole time, do look at reviews the lift problem is not a new problem , obviously been out of service for a long time. My opinion Daish,s book holidays under false pretenses knowing full well the lift will never be in commission. This actually spoilt my holiday. Other than this the food, staff and cleanliness was ok.
Stayed for 4 nights as part of a coach holiday. Our room was terrible. Bathroom needed a thorough clean. Massive encased toilet roll holder that stuck out over the toilet making it difficult to sit on toilet ( obviously alot of toilet roll thieves.) Taps were dirty small amount of mould on ceiling and some white sealant on bath mouldy. Plastic handles on bath cracked. Could hear every creak above us as residents upstairs moved about. Sounded like ceiling was caving in. Woke up in night to someone being ill above us - I thought they were in our room it was so loud. Food not very palatable. Been to other hotels that cater for more people and food was alot better there.
Waiting staff were lovely . No WiFi in bedrooms only in common rooms. There is entertainment but very 50's style hi di hi style. The staff seem to have lots of roles around the hotel, taking cases upstairs, cooking, serving in bar and on reception.
Would not go again unless Massive improvements.
Brilliant time. Rooms clean and large. Location is a comfortable walk to the town center. Our breakfast and dinner waitress (Jordan) was unbelievable. It is very rare to come across someone in this industry so exceptionally dedicated, professional and friendly. (Table 7 :- 4th-7th Sept) Having said that all the staff were very friendly and they went out the way to make our stay fantastic THANK YOU ALL
