Walls so thin people keeping us awake just talking normally at 2 am
Overpriced for a three star hotel. We paid £667 for three nights bed & breakfast. The hotel is dated, no WiFi in the bedrooms and restricted access in the reception downstairs, basic breakfast that you have to preorder. The rooms are noisy, soundproofing not good, we could hear people walking around in the room above and in the bathroom next door. Plumbing very noisy, on and off all night. The saving grace is the fact that the staff are more than helpful.
Went to barrowfield hotel .was not impressed at all . Good was . Warm. The portion s were small. Tea coffee was always warm .fried bread was like eating rubber.
The. Beds were not made properly .
The bath panel was broken.
The chair in our. Bedroom was filthy
The whole place. Needs re furnishing
Won't be going there again.
I’ve just returned from a lovely 5-day stay at Barrowfield Hotel, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. What really made the holiday special was the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff—their positive attitude genuinely made a difference throughout our stay.
The hotel is in a great location near the beach, and I loved that the area itself has such a long history—Newquay’s roots as a fishing village and the ancient “Barrowfields” nearby give it a bit of extra character without taking away from that classic seaside holiday feel.
A special thank you to Julie and Jack in the bar, who worked tirelessly and always with a smile. Their hard work and great service didn’t go unnoticed and added so much to the atmosphere.
Would happily return!
recently stayed for 4 nights with a group from Mill farm, Pagham West Sussex. had great room with great view, very clean. all staff throughout hotel very friendly and helpful, especially bev`in coffee shop, new her job well and so very helpful. Would recommend to anbody wanting to stay in the area
Just got back from a 4 night stay at this hotel. We were greeted by the General Manager, she was very welcoming and explained all we needed to know. Our bags were taken to our room. (109) It was a twin with a walkin shower on the first floor. Perfect!
The food, Breakfast & Evening meal, was quality and well served. The serving staff work very efficiently, are polite and helpful.
The entertainment was Ok and the drinks prices were very good, as was the bar staff who copped very well. Bingo was well supported!
At checkout our bags were collected from our rooms and taken to the coach. We had our last Breakfast and said our goodbyes, thanked the staff and boarded the coach. It had been a great 4 days.
Rebecca certainly runs a great Hotel !!!
Have been going to this hotel for years as conveniently located for visiting family.
Always been so so.
However, now it is SUPERB!
From the new manager Jayne, Bar Manager Julie, barman Jack, waitress Jenna and the lovely Charlie they all made our stay BETTER than good. Food, good and, for once hot. This is down to the new head chef.
So, if you haven't been, what you waiting for?
Lovely hotel convenient by bus stops to other parts of Cornwall, Zoo, beaches and Newquay town centre. Attentive and cheerful staff, porter service and lift to all floors. Have to commend especially our wonderful waitress Jenna and thanks again to Jane the Manager. Will come back again when we can
Stopped here whilst on a short break with Caledonian Travel was apprehensive at first after reading some reviews

Good location just a 10/15 walk into Newquay and a 2 min walk to Tolcarne Beach and Tesco Express
Theres a bus stop outside the hotel with regular buses

Just got back from a 4 night stay at this hotel we had a really good experience the hotel was a little dated but great Value for what you pay i would like to send a big thank you to Jack on the bar he made our stay complete i would be grateful if you could let him know what an asset he is to the company many thanks
The location and the staff behaviour
The hotel was pretty basic. It lacked a phone to talk to the reception, the booking.com says free wifi but its not in the room but in the common area and that too wobbly.
It did not have shampoo, conditioner and a basic hand wash as well
Location, staff, pool and housekeeping all fantasic.
Clean and bathroom very good with Powerful shower and huge bath. The garden is big and when they have finished renovations the games room will be great
Car park is horrendous if one person doesn't park straight then it messes up the spaces either side as it's very tight spaces and diagonal.
The rooms are extremely warm as the central is on full temp all night which in April is extreme.
It's a noisy hotel so not great if your a light sleeper
Came here on a Caledonian coach trip in March 2026. We enjoyed our stay here. We found bedroom clean with no problems. Food ok quickly delivered. Staff friendly and hard working. Small lift could only fit two people but despite hotel being full we did`nt have a problem using it. Pool was nice. Short walk into centre. Bus stop just outside of hotel. We would say that this was one of the best hotels we have been to with Caladonian.
On first arriving, the outside of the hotel looked a bit shabby, but once inside it was clean and tidy and welcoming. Our room was large and comfortable and with daily housekeeping was clean and well stocked. The dining room was busy but food arrived promptly and was hot and tasty. Drinks were reasonably priced, but had to be bought in the bar for the table. The hotel has bus stops outside for easy trips into Newquay and the surrounding area. There is a Tesco express a short walk away. Newquay is pleasant stroll along the cliff road, although I enjoyed a bus ride into Truro more.
A bonus at the hotel was the indoor pool. Very clean and warm and thoroughly enjoyable. As at all the Daish's hotels we've stayed at, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Another good and very affordable break.
Nothing, worse experience ever, the place is full with old people and everywhere u can feel that smell of old people 😅😅
On booking doesn't say nowhere the place is full with older people, God !!!
The hotel was full which should say how popular it was . We had a lovely quiet room the only downside is the shower over bath ,it is not good when you cannot climb into a bath so 1 out of 10 for that . The hotel is clean ,the rooms clean , bingo and entertainment ,near a local bus stop , close to a pleasant walk into town .However what ruined it was the food delivery , the restaurant was full and lack of enough staff lead to most meals being cold or luke warm on arrival at table . It should be kitchen to table no leaving meals on side checking order first . For that reason I doubt that I shall return .
We were part of an independent coach trip ( not daishes ) ( around 32 of us ) .We were given a very warm welcome and the whole stay was pleasant . Nice clean room ,comfy beds , everything worked that was suppose to work . Had a small blip with the wash basin being blocked which we mentioned to reception on our way to breakfast. By the time we'd eaten and gone back it was sorted , very efficient . Husband is gluten free and couldn't fault the service and attention he had . There was enough choice on the menu ,and didn't hear anyone complaining . Waiters were very good , our main waiter was Arnau who was Spanish and nothing was too much trouble . Our group said they enjoyed bingo and entertainment each evening . Mothers day all the ladies were given a flower , a chocolate and a free drink . Bar prices and snacks , hot drinks etc very reasonable .All the staff were helpful and pleasant . Would definitely stay again
