Barrowfield Hotel

Decor was a little tired in the communal areas.

Dieses Hotel wird von freundlichen und engagierten – aber offenbar viel zu wenigen – Mitarbeitern betrieben. Vielleicht ist das der Grund, warum es den Charme einer etwas heruntergekommenen Jugendherberge aus den 1990er-Jahren versprüht.

Unser Zimmer hatte saubere Bettwäsche und Handtücher – das war auch schon das Positive. Es wurde als klassisches Dreibettzimmer bezeichnet, allerdings gab es zwei gleich breite Betten – für eine Person luxuriös, für zwei Personen jedoch sehr schmal. Einige Möbelstücke waren unvollständig, und der wackelige Stuhl wirkte gefährlich. Die Regalböden im Kleiderschrank waren voller Staub, und auf einer dort liegenden Decke befanden sich auffallend viele menschliche Haare. Eine Klimaanlage gab es nicht. Die einzige Möglichkeit, frische Luft hereinzubekommen, bestand darin, zwei kleine Fenster zu öffnen. Das hatte allerdings akustische Nachteile, da der Müllwagen um 6:30 Uhr direkt unter diesen Fenstern seine Arbeit aufnahm, gefolgt von einem Lieferwagen um 7:00 Uhr.

Im Badezimmer war der alte Duschvorhang im unteren Drittel deutlich vergilbt, ansonsten aber sauber. Die Fuge zwischen Badewanne und Fußboden war voller Schimmel. Die elektrische Lüftung funktionierte zwar, reichte aber nicht aus, damit die Handtücher über Nacht trocknen konnten.

Wir hatten unser Zimmer inklusive Frühstück gebucht. Beim Check-in wurde uns eine genaue Uhrzeit (8:45 Uhr) genannt, zu der wir zum Frühstück erscheinen und unsere blauen Identifikationsarmbänder sollten. Außerdem erhielten wir einen Zettel, auf dem wir vorab auswählen mussten, was wir essen wollten – siehe Foto. Dabei konnte man jeweils nur einen Artikel aus jedem der beiden Bereiche auswählen. Fairerweise muss man erwähnen, dass zusätzlich Toast mit Marmelade und Kaffee serviert wurden. Die Eier waren nicht immer richtig durchgegart, das Rührei sah eher grauweiß aus und schmeckte nach nichts. Zum Glück gibt es etwa 100 Meter vom Hotel entfernt einen Supermarkt und gleich um die Ecke eine Bäckerei.

Номер был достаточно пыльным, полочки в тумбе не убраны, были чужие волосы. От туалета был неприятный запах. Считаю, что уборка номеров это самое главное. Номер может быть стареньким, но чистым.

Breakfast was very poor rooms was not clean dirty bedding bathroom was abit gruby room felt very old fashioned and I paid £510 for 3 nights for 2 adults and child was not worth it

Needs some TLC. Bathroom had some mould above the shower. Tv fell off the wall and broke whilst we were watching (staff were very accommodating and offered to move room, we declined as only their for 1 night). Bathroom wasn’t the cleanest.

The hotel is need off a full refurbishment .

Uhm where do I start first when you come in your greeted by lovely welcoming RECEPTION staff but the minute you step into your room, a hole another story. Leaky showers, Invasive MATIENCE staff, many fire hazards, “dogey” (quoted by who I believe to be the owner) light switches. There is NO WIFI IN ROOMS, and in our room we had NO ELECTRICITY which when we when to the reception for help (and they were very helpful) we were redirected to there maintenance guy who had no clue what he was doing, STUNK OF ALCOHOL AND CIGARETTES.. we were told they couldn’t do anything about until the morning and were given a powerbank on 50% to “make do”. In the morning the same guy came back just as we were waking up LUCKILY WE WERE as he then proceeded to unlock the door and try to let himself in. Me and my boyfriend are 18 and were away for the first time together this was ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING!!! Thank fuck we had put a chair against the door the night before other wise he would have actually entered the room. Utilities were disgusting!! Floor falling apart where open holes were made to make room for plumbing… the list goes on.

Room wasn’t cleaned for our entire stay, booking issues with booking.com and hotel regarding breakfast inclusion. Hotel also tried to add an extra charge which had to be disputed. Car parking is limited.
Walls are paper thin and woken up to the sound of drilling in the am.

The staff weren't very welcoming, which was quite shocking to me, as someone from the hospitality industry it felt as if they were annoyed when you go to the desk to ask questions. The room quality was poor for the price, they didn't make the bed up on the second day, the duvet was just thrown over.
Breakfast was extremely basic and limited. Not enough waiting staff available for a fully booked breakfast room.
Overall a disappointing stay for my first visit to Cornwall.
Newquay Cornwall itself was lovely, I will definitely go back but will certainly not stay or recommend Barrowfield based on my experience.

The room is very dirty and the lights doesn’t work properly,the TV is not working,no air conditioning,stains all over the bedding’s and rugs,only one power point,not really worth what we paid for.

Everything, breakfast was cold every morning and tiny portions. Bed was incredibly uncomfortable and the room was far too hot as the windows didn't stay open and the only air flow was from a half broken fan covered in dust. For £1000 this was an awful experience. Many unpleasant guests, including one man walking around in his boxers being loud at 2am and staff really didn't seem that bothered.
