Frühstück top. Tolle Aussicht.
Faktasticka poloha.
Starsi koupelna, ale cista.
Altehrwürdiges Haus in exzellenter, zentraler Lage.
Sehr gute Lage..
Wunderschöner Ausblick vom Balkon in die Stadt.
Die Betten waren sehr bequem.

Small balcony overlooking the promenade and the river.
The reception experience was unacceptable. It felt like a hostile border checkpoint. Check-in for Elefant Hotel takes place at Hotel Atlantic Palace. I arrived around 15:00 to an empty reception. After waiting some time, a clerk came downstairs, sat down, turned on his computer, and demanded "Passports!" without a single word of welcome.
I handed over a mix of German and Turkish passports for our family of 7. The clerk then demanded visas. Visas? This was never asked at any hotel in my stays in over 30+ countries, including our hotel in Prague the day before, so it can't be a Czech police requirement.
When I explained that a couple of the passports were Turkish "Green" passports (officially visa-exempt), he refused to listen, rigidly insisting "all Turkish citizens need a visa." I told him I would fetch the one visa for the family member who actually needed it, but the green passports don't have one. Even when I tried to point out the German entry stamps and asked "how could we be here without a visa if these passports needed one?", he became hostile, asking, "Why are you asking these questions to me?"
To avoid further discussion, I walked back to Elefant Hotel to retrieve our one visa document (a German permanent residency card). When I returned, he checked us in silently without an apology or any comments.
A hotel receptionist is not a border police officer. If a hotel chooses to interrogate guests on immigration rules, the staff should at least be properly trained to know which passports actually require visas. This unnecessarily aggressive and unhelpful behavior ruined the start of our stay. I have stayed in Karlovy Vary before at much better properties, and I will definitely not be returning to this hotel.
