Castellare di Tonda Resort & Spa

We recently spent a week here in a self contained apartment. We went as a family but were put in 2 different apartments which actually worked for us.
The grounds are beautiful, lots of little buildings across site all with their own pool which makes the experience feel very private Despite a few other families that stay in the same building. - Beware some of the buildings are 1kilometer from the restaurant and bar, but I think it makes the stay feel that more magical and private. Would recommend taking a car. The food was very good, I would like them to consider a few more vegan options, but everyone else in my party was very satisfied including the children. We are from London so are use to busy city life. This trip was booked on a whim and it absolutely paid off. The staff were all lovely and helpful. We had a wonderful relaxing time. Either hanging out by the pool or taking trips to other towns including Pisa, Florence and Siena. The rooms were basic and gave ‘old Tuscan chic’ very charming. I can see why this place wouldn’t be for everyone but it was definitely for us. So much so that we are seriously considering coming back next year. Also a special mention to the trainers at the stables, the horse riding experience was the high of our trip. Core memories were created.

We visited the hotel in April 2025 as a group of four families, each with children, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and everything was impeccably clean. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, making it easy to prepare meals during our stay.

The outdoor area was just as thoughtfully arranged, with chairs, loungers, and tables that allowed us to enjoy lunch and dinner outside in the fresh air, surrounded by breathtaking views of vineyards and forests. The children played freely on the lawn while we relaxed nearby.

Service at the reception was outstanding—every request we made was addressed promptly, with warmth and a positive attitude. Breakfast was rich and varied, offering something for everyone.

The pool was clean and well-maintained, and thanks to the layout of the hotel—where each group of rooms has access to its own pool and children's pool—we enjoyed complete privacy throughout our stay.

It was a truly fantastic experience, and we wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

Ci siamo trovati molto bene, abbiamo passato tre giorni in un posto paesaggisticamente bellissimo, comodo e tenuto bene. La cucina non eccellente

The apartments on the estate are restored keeping original features of traditional Tuscan farm buildings so are rustic, but well equipped, clean, very comfy beds, great bathrooms. The staff were welcoming, helpful and we loved the area..

We are just back from this amazing resort where we had our wedding. We travelled with 60 guests and the experience couldn't have went any better. We stayed at Castellare Farmhouse and it was beautiful. The rooms are a great standard, with cooling facilities provided. There is a small shop 1km away and a supermarket in the nearest town.

Our wedding was amazing, the staff really make this place the best. Donatella, Raphael and all the staff couldn’t be nicer and made our special day unforgettable.

Highly recommend hiring a car for staying here.

Unser Aufenthalt war wunderbar und hat gefühlt 5 Sterne verdient. Im Detail, könnte die Küche irgendwann ein upgrade gebrauchen und das Poolzubehör wie Sonnenschirme auch.
Alles sauber alles bestens. tolle Lage, tolle Aussicht. Liebe Leute. Super Kinderbetreuung. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Super apprezzato lo spirito della struttura all'insegna del relax, ottimo anche il ristorante con prodotti tipici del territorio e la spa il cui accesso su prenotazione la rende un posto davvero tranquillo dove rilassarsi con una vista magnifica. Apprezzatissima anche la localizzazione del nostro casolare in mezzo a viti e ulivi.
Uniche pecche il bar che chiude troppo presto la sera, rendendo impossibile bere un cocktail dopo cena e le condizioni di manutenzione della piscina del casolare dove ho alloggiato, Casanuova, da rivedere.
Eccetto questi aspetti è una struttura fantastica e il personale è super cordiale e disponibile.

Beautiful location in the toscana hills. We appreciated the concept of having a swimming pool for each house and thereby avoiding the pool being too crowded. We also had a positive experience with the hotel restaurant, due to the staff being open and sympathetic. However, the receptionnists were rather cold and our arrival was rather disappointing, having to pay 30€ to get our already cleaned appartement early. The appartement itself had an appropriate size, but seemed outlived and presented problems with the air conditionning and the water outflow. In addition, the isolation was very poor and it was impossible not to hear the neighbours.

Lets start with the positives... The setting is beautiful, Tuscany at its best. Marvellous views, natural settings and rustic countryside.

However, the apartment we were in was very old, hardly clean and badly decorated. From the scratches on the kitchen furniture to the old mattresses, the whole place needed a refurbishment. Non-existent wi-fi but we didn't care too much as we were on holiday. The sofa bed were my daughters slept was VERY uncomfortable.

The restaurant was very slow, clearly overwhelmed, during both meals we had (one of which was a fixed menu Easter lunch). Lastly, they tried to charge us twice for a SPA service claiming to my husband that I didn't pay a manicure - which I did (can you just check the receipt you just printed before trying to charge us again)?

Overall, I felt the place was a missed opportunity for a lovely stay which ended up being a bit ruined by a very old apartment, a badly organised restaurant and mediocre customer service.

The reception was extremely helpful with all our queries even before we got to the property and really helped make sure we had a comfortable stay. The apartment came with amazing views and the basic necessities. The pool was a very nice size and kept clean for us to enjoy. We also booked a horse riding lesson which was with a great instructor and I’d highly recommend a ride if you have the time. Thanks for the hospitality!

We have been robbed at this facility. Our lock has been forced and during the night intruders invaded our appartment and robbes us from precious jewellery and a large sum of money. Or little girl was sleeping with us in the bedroom while the burglars were there. We have locked our appartment with both locks. Security camera did not work, emergency numbers werent picked up. Castellare di Tonda claim they are not liable. Even though they have said to me that there are a lot of burglaries at their facility. The do not do anything about it. I would strongly advise not to go here. Keep your family and posessions safe!

As an Italian, it pains me to write a bad review of a property in my beautiful country,but this place is really just a glorified hostel.
Issues we had:
-no water for an entire morning until early afternoon (we couldn’t take showers, clean dishes, prepare food, etc.)
-our stove didn't work (only fixed 2 days later)
-the outlet for our fridge did not work (later resolved by providing us w/an extension cord)
-the wifi was terrible, could barely connect and if we did it, it lasted no more than a few min
-no power for an entire day (we came back to no electricity and large puddles of water in our living room that were coming from the fridge. We lost all of the food we had in the fridge)
-farm house was simply outdated, we fully understand traditional Tuscan charm, but this was not it
-pool was not clean at all (after using the fishnet for more than an hour (not even an exaggeration) it was still filthy, we gave up and never even got to enjoy the pool)
-hotel restaurant is pricey (which is expected, you pay for convenience) but the food was utterly disappointing. There are local restaurants near by which are MUCH MUCH better
-they give you ONE roll of toilet paper, for 9 nights, then you need to supply your own…even airbnb’s give you toilet paper, but not this "RESORT&SPA"

Hotel said they could compensate us for issues we faced during our stay, only to follow up when we got back home and now they refuse. Expedia also tried to contact them for 4 months to no avail. Just terrible.

Die Lage ist durchwegs schön, allerdings kommt es darauf an, in welchem Haus bzw. Wohnung man untergebracht ist, da die Zufahrtstrasse zur benachbarten Hapimag-Anlage teilweise vorbeiführt und dadurch der Angestellten-Morgenverkehr bemerkbar ist.
Der Zustand unserer Wohnung wäre teilweise sanierungsbedürftig, was jedoch mit der alten Bausubstanz und damit verbundener Feuchtigkeit zusammenhängen dürfte. Die Wohnung war oberflächlich sauber, jedoch nicht rein, allerdings waren die Betten und die Bettwäsche (sowie Handtücher) o.k. und sauber. Der Pool war ebenso sauber, allerdings lag ein Handtuch bei unserer Ankunft (der Farbe nach zu schließen schon länger) auf einer Liege und dies blieb bis zu unserer Abfahrt so.
Die Anlage wird scheinbar sehr spartanisch betreut, man könnte es fast als etwas "lieblos" bezeichnen.

Enjoyed the place and had a few problems but the staff were very helpful and sorted all issues out. Some parts are dated and in need of upgrades, especially the driving range and clubs!

Lonely views, remote ideal for self catering but on premise bar and restaurant nit great , staff rude

cercavo sul vostro sito una struttura che offrisse la spa. essendo flaggata in verde e non recando la scritta "servizio con supplemento" come altri della lista, ho dato per certo fosse inclusa.
invece niente è incluso: questa struttura offre solo l'appartamento completamente sguarnito di tutto. nessun segno di accoglienza, dalla carta igienica alla caldaia spenta, al gas chiuso, all'accendigas non funzionante, alla pulizia non appropriata.

ho quindi chiesto almeno mi venissero offerti due ingressi. ce ne è stato concesso uno di coppia e a prezzo di essere trattati come ladri.
la wifi non prende e tendenzialmente nemmeno il bancomat. nel mezzo del nulla assicuratevi di portarvi qualsiasi cosa vi serva perché il market oltre che sguarnito molto caro, fatica ad accettare il bancomat per l'assenza di linea.
non la consiglio assolutamente!

Super séjour dans un lieu magique. Génial pour les enfants qui se retrouvent pour jouer en sécurité .

Fantastisk ophold med alt, hvad man kan ønske sig. God service. Romantiske farmhouse. "Egen" pool - delt med fem andre lejligheder. God mad på stedets egen restaurant. Faktiske heste på rideskolen. (Husk lukkede sko og lange bukser, hvis du er nybegynder). Husk at besøg Pisa, Siena og Lucca.
Og husk en god kniv, et ekstra spækbræt, viskestykker og karklude til køkkenet. Linned behøver I ikke at tage med.
