This is the best spot on the Amalfi coast, which is the only one I know of with its own beach that you don’t have to walk down the mountain to get to if you stay here. That and the people make you feel as though you are at home. I’ve been coming every summer for 15 years. You won’t be disappointed!
Location, restaurant, beach, service, good connection with port.
La ubicación es muy buena, cerca del puerto y del centro sin escaleras. Está en primera línea de playa.
Desayuno estupendo, buenas camas, limpio y fresco 😛
El precio es alto si lo comparas con otros hoteles similares en otras zonas, pero Positano es caro de por si.
The location is very good. It’s beachfront and very close to the main street through the stairs.
There could be a sign when arriving with ferry. The navigations guided us up the stairs and through the main street which took us 30-45mins, but then we realized that there is a 5min path through the coast line.
Todo. Pasamos 3 dias espectaculares.
No nos falto nada.
Personal muy amable.
Nada.
Hotel Pupetto is located right on the water in Positano on the Amalfi Coast. We took a ferry from Naples, and once we arrived, we found the walkway to the hotel almost immediately to the left of the ferry dock (just past the luggage porters). The walk is uphill in places, but it’s a paved path without stairs. The views along the way are incredible, especially in the early morning and after sunset. The walk really wasn’t difficult.
If you’re traveling with large luggage, Hotel Pupetto can arrange porter service. We only travel with backpacks, so I can’t personally review the service, but it appeared to be very well organized.
On the walk to the hotel, we passed a small local beach and what turned out to be a hidden gem of a restaurant. The beach requires quite a few stairs to reach, but it has its own restaurant and bar. Since this is a hotel review, I’ll just say we ended up eating at that restaurant twice during our three-day stay.
The hotel also has its own restaurant and beach club. We had dinner at the main restaurant one evening, which offers a more refined menu. Like most restaurants in Positano, reservations are recommended. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with both a generous buffet and à la carte options. One morning we had an early excursion, and the staff even packed our breakfast to go, which was a thoughtful touch.
The beach club is very nice, although the beach itself is rocky rather than sandy. We chose to spend one day on a swimming boat tour to Amalfi instead, but if you plan to rent a day bed at the beach club, make a reservation in advance.
Every member of the staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.
What I appreciated most about Hotel Pupetto is that it lets you experience Positano without constantly dealing with the crowds, traffic, and endless staircases. You’re in a peaceful location, yet you’re only about a 10-minute walk from the main shopping area, restaurants, and boat tour departures.
The only real downside is also one of the hotel’s greatest strengths: its location. Being tucked away from the crowds is fantastic, but it does require a little planning for certain excursions. We spoke with other travelers who said they spent much of their time climbing Positano’s roads and staircases. We avoided almost all of that during our stay.
The exception was an early morning excursion to Pompeii. Our pickup was at a hotel at the top of town. Hotel Pupetto is connected to an upper pathway by a long staircase, and when we asked the staff whether the eight-minute estimate from our map app was realistic, they honestly told us it would take closer to 25–30 minutes. They were absolutely right. It was a steep and challenging climb.
Fortunately, after the tour we were dropped off at the top of town, so we simply enjoyed the leisurely walk back downhill, stopping halfway for an aperitivo. If you’re returning from a tour, I highly recommend walking down through Positano rather than climbing up.
Great property. We had a comfortable stay.
The only thing is I wish they would have warned us that the elevators were no longer working. We had climb so many stairs on the first day in and had to walk for over 40 minutes to reach the pick up point for our car transfer.
Hotel Pupetto was quiet, relaxed and an easy five minute walk to the busy centre of Positano. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful.
The only thing wrong was the chairs being moved around on the upstairs verandah which woke us up in the middle of the night and early in the morning. Perhaps rubber stoppers on the bottom of the chairs would be an easy fix.
The staff went way out of their way to be helpful and friendly! It is a little gem of a place away from the hoards of tourists! The restaurant wowed us too! I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful beach and peaceful escape from the main Positano square
The location and at idk here was exceptional
Nothing
Hotel is closed by the small beach but short walk from main area, that means rear it’s is quiet and you can go for a quick swim. I booked it for only one night as mixed up dates and booked another one for other 3 nights in the main area. I wish I booked this hotel for all my nights!!!! Other hotel was more expensive , noisy due to bar nearby and high up. Peter met me at the ferry pier and also helped with suitcase when I was moving out. Not the case with other hotel. Room was excellent with the beach just below balcony. Also it has a lovely restaurant with amazing view.
Nothing.
Ottima colazione, bellissimo panorama. Rumore del mare in sottofondo che mi ha fatto dormire da dio
Non saprei forse le porte
Everything! What is not to like! The location is absolutely stunning, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of positano but close enough to walk to and access ferries etc. the views…. Are just so tranquil! It has been a dream staying here, the beach club attached saved us on a hot day! How this is only a 3 star hotel I will never understand. Thanh you!
An excellent hotel with a stunning location and extremely friendly staff. Unfortunately, a group of non-European tourists stood out unpleasantly, loudly and vulgarly discussing transatlantic issues among themselves. As an outsider, I found this bothersome, though of course, it had nothing to do with the hotel itself.
