Highly Recommended
Pros:

After struggling to find a hotel willing to let us stay without booking on line !! , we were delighted with the welcome at Wainstones. This hotel is quirky and rather unusual and the staff and food were first class. we booked an extra night and were sorry to leave.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, with a few minor niggles
Pros:

Beautiful hotel in a lovely village location, and just a short walk from two local pubs. The standard of the decor is very high, blending modern twists with period features. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We ate in the restaurant twice - once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both main courses were excellent, particularly my venison. Breakfast was very tasty, too.

Cons:

WiFi wasn't great
Self-closing doors meant loud banging from early on (6 am on a Sunday morning!)
Also, being just off the coast-to-coast route, inconsiderate guests clomping around in walking boots on hardwood floors didn't help with being able to sleep
Some problem with the plumbing meant the shower whistled as we bathed
We were a little underwhelmed by our starters when having dinner (hot smoked salmon and carpaccio)

A breath of fresh air!
Pros:

Delightful looking property. Interior a mix of Emma Shipley with functional hotel. Lovely and fresh. Great check in. Didnt eat dinner but it looked and smelt wonderful. Our room was quirky loved the dog lamp. Functional, plenty of room. Pitch black. Bed super soft. Great coffee machine. Full Yorkshire breakfast top class including the black pudding. Checkout with bright and attentive receptionist. Great carpark with super landscaping.

Cons:

The doors banging on closing could be annoying especially in the morning.

Exceptional stay definitely recommend
Pros:

Everything! Clean and exceptionally done. Lovely staff and very helpful. Definitely recommend.

Cons:

A double room has no drawers for clothes, no comfy extra seating in room should have asked for the larger room with a bigger bed.

Pros:

Beautiful refurbishment and location. The food was well above average and very high quality and staff were attentive and friendly.

Cons:

My room was at the rear of the property with a loud fan or some other piece of equipment outside the window, which disrupted my sleep, more so as it was a hot night and the windows had to stay open

Wonderful hotel and food and free shuttle service.
Pros:

The place was spotless, well organised and the food and bedroom was great. If you are doing the Coast to Coast they have a free shuttle service. They even took the initiative to phone me personally to offer it.

Cons:

Nothing. It was perfect.

Fabulous food in this North Yorkshire hideway
Pros:

We recently visited the Wainstones Hotel for an evening meal and had a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, David made us feel incredibly welcome and looked after us throughout the evening with friendly and attentive service.

The food was excellent, with a great choice of dishes. Highlights included the prawn and crayfish cocktail, venison loin, homemade pie and pasta dishes, all of which were beautifully prepared and delicious.

A wonderful dining experience with great food and outstanding service. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning.
