An absolutely unforgettable stay. We were amazed at every turn of the property—every view felt like a postcard. I found myself constantly reaching for my camera, but no photo could truly capture how beautiful it is in person.
The property is the perfect size: intimate enough to feel peaceful and relaxing, yet expansive enough to offer breathtaking views from every angle. There is something genuinely magical about the atmosphere here. It was one of those rare places that exceeded our expectations and left a lasting impression.
We stayed in Italy for 10 days and visited 5 different locations and this was clearly the best. We stayed here for 3 nights, and it did not disappoint. We wished we had stayed longer.
The facilities, grounds, and guest rooms are large and pristine. Everything is very clean. The food was exceptional including the breakfast and poolside bar which are easily forgotten with the amazing restaurants they have on site.
The overall service and hospitality are top tier, and it offers Tuscany views and grounds that are the best in the region.
Also, the location is close enough to visit several wineries, (We enjoyed the tour at Castello Di Ama), Siena and San Gimignano for great day trips if you want to venture out and see Tuscany.
Do not hesitate. Go ahead and book the Le Fontanelle. You may find some that are less expensive, but this resort offers a perfect combination of Chianti Living, value and A+ service. Worth every dollar/euro. You will create great memories.
Le Fontanelle is a beautifully renovated hotel set on a hill with amazing views stretching for miles and miles. The staff and service they provided was 5 star from start to finish on our two night stay. The pool area is beautiful and very quiet with a great bar. Some of the roads (called Chianti Gravel roads) in the area are pretty uneven and dusty so we arrived with our car covered in dust 🫣 the hotel is not far from Siena which we visited for a couple of hours before checking in. Le Fontanelle would be an amazing location for a wedding. There is an indoor pool and spa, and a private car will take you to the sister property called The Club House just up the road which we did.
Le Fontenelle was the highlight of our 2+ week trip to Italy. We have travelled extensively in Italy and this was our favorite of all our stays. We travelled with another couple who had never been to Italy so it was interesting to us to share our wonderful experience. The restaurants were wonderful, the grounds and pool were perfect and the tour of the vinery was one of the best wine tour we ever have had. Le Fontenlle was the best way to start our trip and we will definitely stay there again
From biking vineyard-to-vineyard to truffle hunting near Siena, we absolutely loved our stay in Tuscany at Hotel Le Fontanelle. The on-site winery tour was incredible and we enjoyed a walk around the nearby sculpture garden. All-in-all, the setting and location made this an exceptionally relaxing part of our trip. If you're looking to slow down, sip wine, and recharge, Le Fontanelle is perfection.
Exceptional and truly beautiful hotel booked for our anniversary. Our junior suite with outside space was very spacious, comfortable and private with incredible sweeping views of the vineyards and gorgeous Tuscan countryside. Perfectly located if you plan on visiting Sienna, Val d’Orcia and the Chianti regions. The staff were incredibly courteous, and knowledgeable of the area and most scenic routes to take. It’s a shame we didn’t take advantage of their amenities and restaurants as our schedule was very full. Highly recommended if you plan on touring Tuscany or simply to unwind.
Absolutely breathtaking! Staff were wonderful!
Would have liked more food options. Especially traveling with children having snacks that aren’t crazy expensive would be nice. But absolutely lovely place
An absolutely joyful place to stay, stunning location, spotless rooms, the staff cannot do enough for you, the restaurants and facilities are first class, it went above and beyond my expectations - A little piece of heaven in Tuscany.
We felt like absolute luxury here! Everyone was extremely kind and attentive to us, and the hotel had an overall picturesque vibe to it. I personally could not get over the views, and the fact that there are only a handful of rooms here made it extremely intimate and charming. Multiple bar and restaurant options keep things fresh, along with the shuttle that takes you to their winery and other sister locations. Special shoutout to the bartender from Venice that introduced us to a “Select Spritz” as well as a special concoction of her own - delicious! Will absolutely definitely only choose to come back to this hotel in the area, thank you for being the highlight of our honeymoon! Grazie di tutto!!
Photos simply do not do Hotel Le Fontanelle justice. You are immediately immersed in the Chianti hills and this place is so much more stunning in person. The views from the main restaurant alone are worth the stay. Absolutely unreal.
The rooms are spacious and elegant, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the Bulgari amenities were such a lovely touch. The outdoor pools are beautiful and the spa area, indoor pool and massages were some of the best I’ve ever experienced. We also had a lovely private terrace and the whole property just feels authentically Tuscan in the best way.
The service is what truly sets it apart. Every single staff member went above and beyond and the concierge was exceptional. The kind of person who makes you feel like your trip is their personal mission. The complimentary shuttle to the club house was such a thoughtful touch.
Two must-dos: visit Vallepicciola, the winery owned by the property because the wines are outstanding in an equally stunning setting, and take advantage of the bikes to explore the grounds and ride into town. Truly one of the highlights of our trip.
If you’re planning a Tuscany trip, Hotel Le Fontanelle needs to be on your list. Already thinking about the next visit!
Beautiful and relaxing! Definitely a highlight of our tour through Italy. Highly recommend Hotel! We would certainly return in the future.
It pains me to write this review as the hotel itself and the staff were absolutely amazing and nothing short of accommodating, as well as the other restaurants on the grounds and sister hotel La Fontanelle. The grounds and amenities are truly amazing. However, it took a serious left turn when we visited their “Michelin” starred resultant Il Visibio on the last night of our stay. We’ve been fortunate enough to eat at many Michelin starred restaurants around the globe and I can honestly say this was the worst meal I’ve had in my entire life. The food was mostly unappetizing and while I can appreciate the story of each dish, they completely missed the mark on having an appetizing experience. Aside from the disappointing food we received, I got food poisoning and spent the night expelling the €600 we spent. This was likely because the food was that of road kill they found on the local streets: raw pigeon, raw shrimp, raw sheep, rotten fish, etc. I don’t mind paying for a Michelin dinner whether I agree with the flavors or not, but when checking out, we expressed what had happened in regards to the food borne illness and we were told “the food isn’t for everyone”… a disappointing response from staff given the otherwise incredible service we had experienced. Our tour of Italy turned into a true local experience as we had a visit to the Emergency Room to recover from this “one of a kind” dinner. And don’t even think about expressing disappointment or they will treat you like an uncultured annoyance who has no business critiquing their meal. Again, truly pains me to write this as the service from staff was phenomenal and detailed during the meal, although the meal perhaps wasn’t our taste and we respect that completely and remained respectful and open during the entirety of the experience. The true disappointment was in the aftermath of the disaster and the response to it.
My partner and I will remember our experience at Hotel Le Fontanelle for the rest of our lives. It was a truly blissful and awe inspiring experience that words just don't seem to bring enough justice to. The location was gorgeous- unlike anything we had ever seen or could've imagined ever seeing. The property itself was straight out of a fairytale with it's vine-covered stone walls and rustic energy, and the staff was exceptionally friendly, professional, and discreet. I could not recommend this experience more, and I truly hope to visit again some time in the future. Thank you, Hotel Le Fontanelle!
