Bellevue Village

If you're in need of a relaxing, adult-only retreat with amazing views and comfortable facilities, look no further than Bellevue Village! George and Fofi are such wonderful hosts and accommodated our every need during our stay. George and his son even cooked us delicious dinners at their amazingly-situated restaurant at the top of the complex on several nights, with panoramic views of the nearby Lagaria and Agia Palegia beaches below. Walking to the first beach is a simple 5-minute stroll from the complex (give it 15-minutes and a few leg stretches on the way back, however!), and you can walk to Agia Palegia in roughly 20-25 minutes to explore a more comprehensive list of restaurants and shops. However, we much preferred the scenery and tranquility of the much-nearer Lagaria beach, which has amazing marine life if you fancy a snorkel and a good selection of restaurants for locally-caught fresh fish, moussaka, pizza, and more.
The Bellevue Village pool is open from roughly 8:30am-8:15pm and is very welcome after a scorching day sunbathing or reading a book in the hammock. The apartments have AC, a fan, a fridge, and a small kitchenette fitted with two hobs, pans, a kettle, and all the necessary crockery to cook your own meals. We also hired a car from Motor Sun (another great recommendation from George) and had no issues whatsoever - it was very straightforward. Just be mindful that they will likely deliver the car to you with only one bar of fuel left and you need to return it with the same level if you don't want to lose out on some cash.
I can't recommend Bellevue Village enough. Everything you'll need for a relaxing stay is situated nearby, and George and Fofi are some of the kindest, most hard-working, and helpful hosts we've ever stayed with. I was blown away by Bellevue Village, it exceeded all of our expectations! George and Fofi could not have been more welcoming, and could not do enough to make our stay relaxing and happy. They are the kindest, friendliest and most generous people, and made our stay so special! I even left a skirt behind and they managed to find it and were prepared to post it to us in England! The apartment was beautiful, spotlessly clean, stayed very cool in the heat, and the view from our large balcony and the whole plot was breathtaking. We had the pool to ourselves most days, or shared with a few quiet, friendly couples. The whole experience was pure bliss! We looked at hundreds of holiday accommodation options, and I am SO happy that we chose this. The value for money is incredible, I felt as though I was in a 5* hotel, with so many thoughtful touches. The beach, small supermarket and several tavernas are a 10-15 minute walk down the hill, and it's only a half hour walk to Agia Pelagia, if you want more tourist attractions. I cannot recommend Bellvue Village enough, and we will 100% be back. If you're hesitating to book, don't! You won't regret staying here.

Spending time at Bellevue is like being in relaxation paradise, from the welcome you receive on arrival from George and Fofi, to the wonderfully authentic accomodation, you really to feel like you’ve arrived in Crete, and it’s time to unwind.

We have recently returned from our 8 day holiday at Bellevue. The previous glowing reviews are absolutely well deserved. If you are after ultimate rest and relaxation, this is the place to visit. We really cannot speak highly enough. George and Fofi are part of the character of this beautiful place. Kind and welcoming they go above and beyond to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. It felt like staying with friends. The views are outstanding! The breakfast buffet is well worth the €7 and Fofi's fresh homecooked evening meals along with George's service, are not to be missed (some of the best in the area) and excellent value. The whole area is clean and well kept. The pool (chlorine free) was beautiful and perfectly refreshing. Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves, no stress over sunbeds! A gentle breeze on the hillside location means the weather/heat was just ideal. Lygaria beach is stunning- the sea was like bath water, with some lovely tavernas. It is about an 8 minute walk down the hillside and is fairly steep on the way back up but certainly manageable and well worth it. George has the pathway down well lit so you can walk back up any time. Agia Pelagia the next bay along is also worth visiting with shops and tavernas (a 20 minute walk away). All the food and drink in the area was delicious and great value!
The bus stop isn't too far away and is cheap to get to Heraklion on an air conditioned coach. A lovely city and great day out.

All the Cretan people were extremely friendly and accomodating, we have fallen in love with the place!

We had a great stay at Bellevue - the effort George and Kofi put into it is amazing. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a comfortable stay and you can easily see this is their passion. They made the stay feel very personal - as if you’re visiting friends. The place couldn’t be run by nicer or harder working people and this made the trip all the more special and memorable.

My husband and I are just back from an amazing week in Ligaria staying in the beautiful Bellevue Village. George and Fofi are the most welcoming hosts, so generous and hospitable. Bellevue is located on the top of a hill overlooking Ligaria and Agia Pelagia, the views were stunning, the setting was tranquil and relaxing with fruit trees, olive trees and gorgeous whitewashed accommodation. We felt that we were immersed in the true Authentic Greece. We thoroughly recommend staying here if you want to experience real Greece, not the slick, standardised hotel experience.

I guess I'm going to repeat a lot of the other reviews on this page. so I'll try and be succinct!

1. George and Fofi give this place heart and soul. Cretan hospitality at its finest.
2. The views are amazing, brilliant, stunning, breathtaking. They really are.
3. Apartments are clean, simple and homely. Kitted out with all the basics you need.
4. Order breakfast and/or dinner in advance. Delicious and very good value.
5. Great outside spaces to relax/unwind: pool, hammock, terrace, loungers.
6. Ligaria beach (small, lovely, quiet) steep 15 min walk down. Try Siroco Taverna.
7. Agia Pelagia is 25 min walk. Bigger, good nightlife. 10 euro taxi back.
8. Less than 30 minutes from airport & perfect base to explore the island from.
9. Fantastic value for money.

We had the most amazing stay at the Bellevue Village with George and Fofi! The setting is gorgeous - at the top of the hill overlooking Lygaria bay, with views over Agia Pelagia too. Every apartment has these views - as does the restaurant and the pool.

It was the perfect place to escape all of the stresses and strains of everyday life - George and Fofi could not do enough for us, and it’s only a 10 minute wander down (although quite steep on the way back up) to Lygaria and 20 minutes (less steep, but still hilly) to Agia Pelagia when we fancied a change

The pool was wonderful, we had it to ourselves most of the time we were there it has wonderful views and was the perfect temperature to cool us down.

The apartment was clean, spacious and air conditioned

The real stars of the show though are George and Fofi. They were so kind and genuinely invested in us having a great time. Do not miss out on Fofi’s home cooking of Greek dishes - it was the best we had on Crete and the views overlooking the bay were incredible

It was a delight spending a week here. Our poolside apartment was basic but sufficient and charming in a Mediterranean way. Owners George and Fofi could not have been more welcoming. The location is spectacular, though be prepared for a stiff walk back up to the "village" after your day down at Lugaria beach. Evenings we generally walked the 20 mins into Agia Pelagia for its many restaurants bars and shops. Ten euros for the taxi back seemed very reasonable. All in all, terrific value for money - we wouldn't hesitate going back.

We had the most wonderful 2 weeks in George & Fofi' s apartments. George & Foci are the best hosts ever, nothing is too much hassle with Fofi meeting the needs of everyone. The rooms are all individually styled, very quirky & tasteful. The food that Fofi cooks is to die for, her beef stifado was absolutely delicious, the best beef I have ever tasted, she gave me the recipe but don't think I have a chance of meeting her standards. The views are beautiful, with views of lygaria beach from most rooms. The walk to aghia pelagia is not as strenuous as the walk to lygaria beach. Aghia is a busier beach with enough waterfront tavernas to choose from, there is also a couple of icecream/waffle shops, also lovely. Close to these is a tiny wee cafe which sells the best gyros in the area. I'd also like to mention blooms, it's a taverna that sells lovely cocktails with a speakeasy theme, music was fab. At lygaria beach there are a smaller selection of tavernas, all lovely. We went to Paralio often, Michael the owner was very friendly & a lovely modern feel to it. If you are wanting a relaxing, romantic, peaceful break this is the place to go to.

We had the most perfect holiday at Bellevue. George and Fofi were incredible hosts- the apartment was so lovely and clean and the food we ate in their restaurant was the best we had all holiday.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing and the scenery around the pool was beautiful.

Love the views. Love the quaint charm. George has really looked after us. Love this place. I'll be back. I don't understand why this place isn't rammed. I know it's October but Crete is still 28degC. Surely Alia Pegalia should be heaving?

Had a great time staying with George and Fofi. They couldn't have possibly been better hosts. The apartment was clean and the view was stunning.
Fofi's cooking in the evening was excellent.
One tip if you're driving (recommended) - the turning from the main road is easy to miss. It's after the 2nd right hand bend, about 800m after the Liguria beach sign

We had such an amazing time at Bellevue. Our apartment was decorated in an authentic Greek style and very clean. It is a stunning setting, but a steep walk from Lygaria (10min walk) and Agia Pelagia (30min walk/€10 taxi). George and Fofi are brilliant hosts, such lovely people who go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. We would definitely come back, thank you!

Bellevue has the most amazing views. Our room was very authentic, white washed walls and blue trimmings. George and Fofi are outstanding hosts. Fofi is an excellent cook. George greeted us with a nice cold drink and gave us good advice on where to go, how to get there etc. Fofi and George are a lovely couple who go out of their way to help you. George gave us a lift up to the bus stop when we were leaving. The local beach wasn't too crowded even though we were there at the beginning of August. Bellevue is to be highly recommended. The location of Bellevue Village just couldn't be better. The view from the hill top is amazing and can be enjoyed from the terraces of the individual rooms, the large pool area and the taverna. The local beaches with restaurants, etc. are a short climb downhill - but people with problems walking will have to take the car. The rooms are quiet, clean and functional.
