Beautiful room and castle , had an evening meal in the orangery which was fantastic with great service

I felt the service at breakfast was slow , got coffee but ordered tea,asked for scrambled eggs on toast and was told I could get my own salmon from the food counter , asked for extra butter which I received after my breakfast

We had an all too brief one night stay. Hope to be back soon!

Location.. easy to reach just off main road.
Hotel itself beautifully situated in woodland. Animals a lovely bonus!
Food delicious - we have rarely had such delicious food served to us at a wedding ceremony - it was absolutely amazing. Tasty, hot and served very efficiently.
Bathroom and fittings (room 705) were beautiful.

Cons:

So many steps! I realise this is an old building and there is no way to change this.. however for health and safety reasons, some more handrails need to be installed - particularly at the steps leading from the orangery to the wedding ceremony venue. Also - a very visible warning sign should be in place regarding the very steep step at the main entrance door. Handrail could be extended to the bottom step at the front entrance also. (I am recovering from hip replacement surgery and very aware of steps - hence these comments!).
We were in room 705 in The Lodge. The bed nearest the window was uncomfortable and noisy with the least movement and disrupted my sleep. Lampshade on one of the nightstand lights was loose and ready to fall off. Chipped paintwork on the inside of the ensuite door gives an uncared for appearance to an otherwise beautiful bathroom.
Bedroom was up to usual hotel standard.
Reception staff were friendly and welcoming but reception area not highly visible ... and more steps to be negotiated!! There is a large table just inside the front door - maybe a small reception area could be placed there - or a "meeter and greeter" to welcome guests.

Pros:

We booked our parents in for a recent stay to celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary- From once they arrived they loved every minute - They were so well looked after the treat in bedroom & the extra pampering they got at breakfast for their anniversary , they were delighted . Thanks for much to all the staff who made their stay so memorable. From the rooms to the grounds everything was gorgeous . They will definitely be back .

Everything!!!! I would rate this castle a 20 out of 10. The staff went above and beyond to make the stay a great experience. The meals were delicious.

Absolutely magical Christmas holiday.
Pros:

Everything was exceptional. The entire staff is warm and welcoming. The castle is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was so comfortable right down to the fluffy pillows and beautifully appointed bathroom. The food is amazing and we can’t forget to mention the sweet canine residents who are absolutely the cherry on top of the sundae.

Cons:

It was perfect! Don’t change a thing.
