Achlada - Mourtzanakis Residence

Einen besseren Gastgeber hätten wir uns nicht wünschen können, vielen Dank dafür...

L’hôtel est très bien.Toutefois, des améliorations devraient être apportées pour améliorer le séjour:
-changer les matelas qui ne sont vraiment pas confortables.
-entretenir les chambres après 2-3 jours;
-entretenir la piscine dans lequel nous n’avons pas pu nous baigner puisqu’elle était non convenable.

Marco a toutefois été très gentil et a donné suite à nos demandes.

Mourtzanakis Residence is prachtig gelegen in de heuvels. 5-10 minuten rijden ben je op verschillende strandjes of in de drukte met vele leuke restaurants. De locatie is rustig gelegen, maar een auto is wel een must.
De huizen zijn voldoende ruim, netjes, met airco en het uitzicht is schitterend. Medewerkers Kostas en Maria en eigenaar Marcos zijn ontzettend vriendelijk. Dagelijks wordt het huisje schoongemaakt en de bedden opgemaakt. Wie rust zoekt is hier perfect op z'n plek. Wij waren met 3 kleine kinderen en voor ons ging dat heel goed, maar verwacht geen kids entertainment oid. Eenvoudig verbeterpunt: moderniseren keuken incl nieuw (compleet servies). Ontbijt mag ook iets gezonder en met meer variatie. Mourtzanakis heeft alle elementen in zich om een topacomodatie te worden. Perfecte uitvalsbasis om het prachtige eiland te verkennen en terug te keren in rust waarbij het voor ons na 2 weken echt voelde als thuis komen. Fijne tijd gehad en als we weer naar Kreta gaan (wat ons super beviel), dan gaan we ook naar Mourtzanakis.

The villa is located in the mountains, about 20 minutes drive to a beach at Agia Pelagia, which is also where we shopped and ate, there being no amenities in the local village. The views from the balcony were stunning - the sea and the mountains. On a clear day you can see many many miles along the mountains to the west. We saw eagles a few times.

Our appartment (Delta) had a lounge area, kitchenette, bathroom and two single beds on the ground floor. The double bed was on a mezzanine. The single air conditioning unit kept the whole appartment cool.

All that we would change is that the kitchen facilities were not really adequate to prepare a meal. The two ring hob/oven could have done with a thorough clean or, preferably, replacement. There was only one sharp knife (a bread knife) and no coffee maker of any sort.

Overall though, since we ate out every day for our main meal, and because of the peacefulness and views, we would be happy to go again.

Marcos has built an elegantly simple compound of residential spaces that are a great pleasure to share in. Five minutes from the highway and you're in s world of ancient olive groves, herds of goats and mountain winds. Marcos, the innkeeper, is warm and very good-humiored, with lots of knowledge of the area and how his village can be made viable for the 21st century. Try his Residence: I guarantee you'll have an unforgettable experience.

Un peu dur de trouver l'endroit, quand on arrive, surtout si c'est le soir, mais après c'est assez facile de se retrouver... Marcos le propriétaire est très sympathique et nous donne des bons conseils pour découvrir la région...

Hôtel idéal pour un séjour au calme, loin des complexes touristiques. Excellent accueil des propriétaires!!!

Lovely location in the hills away from the busy seaside resorts. Relaxing, lovely views, spectacular sunsets, lovely hosts.
We availed ourselves of a breakfast one morning, and an evening meal one night. Both were excellent! The home made Dolmades were the BEST we have ever had!
The hotel was only 10 mins from the national road, so it was easy to get to other places. Supermarket and fuel only about 11 minutes away. Owners were very helpful with advice and assistance ( eg printing boarding passes for our upcoming flight).
It was relaxing sitting on the patio with a coffee watching an Eagle soaring over the valley.
Highly recommended!

Un merveilleux séjour !!

We arrived at Moutzanakis quite late at night, after a late flight, and couldn't have felt more welcome. Our villa was lovely. Simply but stylishly furnished, airy and light, and with two terraces on the ground floor, and one upstairs, leading out from our bedroom. Outside, the two pools looked very inviting, although they were a little chilly in early April.

When we awoke on our first morning and saw the views of the surrounding hills and the sea, we realised just how picturesque the setting is. This was topped off with a delicous (and substantial!) breakfast - all locally sourced - provided in the communal eating area. Marco and his wife provide a wealth of information on the local area, and they speak excellent English and French.

We made a couple of trips into Heraklion, which we thought was a wonderful and vibrant town (contrary perhaps to popular belief) and we thoroughly enjoyed a visit to a nearby convent, as recommended by Marco, to see the beautiful gardens . There were many other things we could have done, but didn't have chance during our four day stay. The area surrounding Achlada and the nearby coastline definitely seems less touristy than the Chania end of the island, where we went after our stay at Moutzanakis. It's an excellent place to get away from it all and the sort of location that would suit couples or families who like to be away from the main tourist areas, and who enjoy walking or driving around to explore.

Hébergement très agréable, calme, loin de la folie de la côte nord.

Hôtes francophones très accueillants, bref à recommander.

Accueil vraiment chaleureux et attentionné de la propriétaire, avec notamment des conseils avisés sur les visites à réaliser.
Appartement vaste et confortable, complètement indépendant les uns par rapport aux autres avec une vue superbe sur la montagne et la côte en arrière plan.
Une adresse incontournables pour qui veux séjourner au calme dans un environnement reposant, à 15 min d'Héraklion.

Chaque villa est équipée tout confort avec cuisine, sdb, mezzanine, tv, cable, multiples rangements, cheminée...
Le personnel est un couple adorable, très serviable et très souriant.
La vue est très jolie, la résidence est située à 5min de la mer ainsi que de l'autoroute principale en crète.
Achlada est un petit village très calme et la résidence n'est perturbée par aucun voisinage ce qui lui donne encore plus de charme.
A recommander pour tous les amoureux de la nature.
La résidence permet d'être à la fois tranquille et totalement indépendant mais offre également la possibilité de partager des moments conviviaux avec les clients des deux autres villas dans les parties communes.
