It's an old hotel without major refurbishment although location is nice it is 2-3 stars not 4 as booking was telling us
This is one of, if not, THE best hotels I've ever stayed in. Everything from the wonderful people who work here, to the perfection of the room (shower was particularly marvelous) and grounds, to the delicious food served every morning, to the ideal location it's situated in, was top tier.
I was excited before about coming here, but nothing could have prepared me for how kind, helpful and patient they were. Particular shout out to Song, who helped me so much with setting up apps, recommending sites to see (and booking them for us) and all the tips and advice he shared. He always had time for me, when I wanted to ask a question and was always extremely helpful.
The food as well. I've never had a buffet like it. It's exquisite chinese food, with a full range of vegetables, meat dishes, soup, sometimes even noodles on top if you're feeling particularly peckish. And there's different things to try everyday. You get fruit, yoghurts and milk all on top too. I would stay here for the breakfasts alone. The chef is a master. It really sets you up for the day.
Then you have a busy shopping street a street away, with shopping malls full of the usual stuff, but crucially, fantastic restaurants. The tube is just round the corner making trips to the rest of Beijing a breeze. And the forbidden city is within easy walking distance and situated conveniently near the entrance point which allows you to purchase tickets on the day, without reservation.
I was genuinely upset I had to leave this place and would stay again in a heartbeat. If you are going to Beijing, stay here.
The hotel is located in a very central location. Despite that it has an authentic tradition feel. A lovely relaxing courtyard and extremely helpful and kind staff. An example is I needed a little bit of laundry done. When I asked to pay the staff said they had done it for free. Although we had language barriers we managed to communicate through a translate app which they did always with great patience
The breakfast was somewhat limited and wouldn’t suit some as didn’t really have western options but I enjoyed that too. There are many cafes, restaurants etc all around so not really an issue
.
Fantastic quiet oasis in the heart of Beijing close to main shopping street and 10 mins from Forbidden staff. Friendly and helpful staff who worked through translation app.
It’s a courtyard hotel in a historic building. It’s comfortable enough but not the same facilities as big international chains e.g limited water pressure in shower, toilet paper has to go in basket. But we loved it
We arrived into Beijing very early and the hotel allowed us to check in early. They also immediately provided us with a free breakfast and were very welcoming. The location of the hotel was excellent as it was easy to walk to all of the local attractions.
Amazing location, close to shops, food and most importantly Forbidden Palace. Place itself is like living in historic dorama, very beautiful.
Very friendly staff; charming, cozy, simple, with a touch of tradition and feeling of home. A peaceful courtyard at the top city location When I come back to Beijing, this is my hotel again.
This is such an amazing hotel - a beautiful courtyard complex loaded with history and wonderfully peaceful. Far exceeded my expectations. On top of this, it’s literally walking distance from pretty much everything you’ll want to see in Beijing! The staff are so kind and helpful!
The location was amazing. In the middle of the city center but a peaceful place.
Breakfast was a big no. No sweet options. Very tradicional but we had to go to buy breakfast every day.
Some international options would be a great improvement.
This hotel is unlike your usual modern hotel. It has the feel of an old Beijing courtyard house with all the modern basic amenities that you need. The room was clean and spacious for myself and my 2 kids (ages 11 and 8). There were plenty of outlets to charge all our electronics. The breakfast included was all typical Chinese fare, which was great for my kids who enjoy their rice, congee, noodles and dumplings. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. It's walking distance to the popular Wangfujing pedestrian street and the Forbidden City.
The English of the staff seemed limited but I had a basic command of Mandarin so everything worked out fine. They lent me a powerbank to use free of charge during my stay, which was a bonus!
Nothing! I really enjoyed my stay here. The value is unbeatable.
Some might complain of the relative hardness of the mattresses but we didn't mind it at all.
位置非常方便,對前台服務非常滿意。
花園略為陳舊,價格略貴。
The service or the personnel
We were 3 and there were only 2 towels.
Size of room and location was great. Nice sitting out spaces which we did not use as too warm.
Breakfast- coffee needs to be kept hot!
Beautiful ancient courtyard, beautifully lit at night, very very central (5 min to Forbidden City by bicycle). Ancient furniture in the corridors & the bedroom
The lighting is VERY harsh everywhere indoors. Bright white halogen tubes, bright white bayonet lamps elsewhere. No carpets anywhere, just cold floor. Zero cosiness. Being in the bedroom felt more like visiting a mechanic or a supermarket. Such a shame. Especially as it's so easy to fix ...
Location is fantastic
Nothing
