What a wonderful, amazing 3 days at the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago!! Our King bedroom suite was clean, neat, spacious and very comfortable. The customer experience was top notch!! Every night we had turned down service and the room was cleaned early every day. The staff was very accommodating and professional. We had one issue with the shower and they took care of it immediately. We will definitely be back!
Just came off another 3-night stay at this hotel and we had a lovely time.
We booked two rooms through Amex FHR and both were upgraded to suites, which was a nice surprise (perks of a Sunday through Wednesday stay I guess). The rooms were very clean and well appointed. We loved the balconies as well.
Food was great at Brass Tacks and also via room service. Room service was nice enough to accommodate my off the menu request of celery juice each morning, which was much appreciated.
Service in the hotel was excellent. We used the house car once which was really convenient. Location is great.
Prices are high ($10 room service delivery fee + 20% automatic tip is absolutely ridiculous) but weekdays room rates are a bit more reasonable than weekends.
We'll likely return the next time we're in the Chicago area, especially if we can lock in decent Amex rates again.
The building is great, and the service mixed.
This property is stunning. The marble entry way, the luxurious spa, the heated cobblestone driveway, and the marble tiled bathroom with a soaking tub deep and wide enough for two, all are lovely and distinctive. If you appreciate an easily accessible beautiful deep soaking tub that involves no climbing or calisthenics to use, this is a rare feature , found in very few Chicago area hotels.
The service is mixed. Tips:
- Avoid asking the front desk staff for anything. They either tell you 'maybe', 'no way to guarantee', 'I'll send an email/request', or transfer you to Hilton central reservations.
- Instead, turn to the concierge desk for any important requests. I always tipped them, knowing them, knowing that this is a key part of their compensation
- While all of the concierge staff are helpful, Logan is Excellent. Her ability to persist in the face of bureaucracy was invaluable during our visit.
- Be aware that although this is considered a luxury property, by default, the HVAC system in each room turns off unless motion is detected. So if you usually sleep soundly, do not be surprised if you wake up drenched in sweat at night because the HVAC didn't stay on.
- If using valet service for your luggage transfer, stay aware of how the valet loads your luggage onto the cart to move it. When checking out, the fellow who took our luggage from room to car set our suitcases on the cart standing up on their wheels. Therefore, when wheeled onto the cobblestone courtyard, one suitcase fell off, landing on the stone driveway.
- We were visiting for a special occasion, and the welcome champagne sent by the congierge group was much appreciated!
This is my second time staying at this awesome, world class hotel, located in, what I think, is the best neighborhood/location in Chicago. This Gold Coast neighborhood location is surrounded by some of the most beautiful brownstone homes, best restaurants, bars, shopping and blocks from Michigan Avenue and the lake front. Our room was fantastic/beautiful and housekeeping was perfect. We also included an afternoon in the Waldorf spa, which too was exceptional. Riz, our personal concierge, and was a great resource to maximize our stay/experience including a highly converted reservation at Arla, where, thanks to Riz and the staff at Arla, we got a table on their outdoor patio area (only 10 tables available on this patio) where we experienced an amazing night of summer Chicago weather, great food, and service. I am born and raised in Chicago, and hands down, this is my favorite hotel destination for “staycations” and/or referrals for friend, family or clients looking for a place to stay while in our fine city. Great job to all and well done Waldorf Astoria Chicago!
Amazing, wonderful staff, beautiful setting
“From our first email exchange, Michel, Yasmin, Riz, and Logan made us feel genuinely welcomed. They went above and beyond to help celebrate our anniversary. As Hilton Diamond members we were incredibly grateful for the thoughtful suite upgrade, welcome amenity, and personalized service. Every interaction felt warm and genuine.”
Can't say enough nice things about the entire stay- starting before the trip began. Our concierge Riz Sumra made the trip extra special. The new bartender at Bernards was a pleasure to engage with. Everyone I interacted with at the hotel was friendly and I appreciated the room upgrade as a Hilton honors member.
Service was wonderful from the moment you arrived. I was enjoying a staycation, and they were kind enough to offer me spa access for some extra relaxation. The room was impeccably clean and extremely comfortable. Every single staff member I came across was kind, professional, and went out of their way to make sure I was enjoying my stay.
We had a wonderful stay!! Very great atmosphere and will be coming back. Luis was amazing and very friendly.
Fantastic hotel and staff! Our stay was honestly perfect. Our room was beautiful and extremely clean. They tidied up twice daily. The General Manager, Thomas, was extremely personable. I saw him clean up a room service food order from the hallway. I was impressed by this, because he took it upon himself. He went around the restaurant at breakfast to check in on guests. You can tell he cares about every detail and he hires people who also care. The level of service was outstanding. Everyone made us feel welcome. James in the restaurant was wonderful also! He made breakfast fun daily. The car service was welcoming after long days of walking. We stayed for our anniversary and were greeted with champagne and cookies! It was a lovely gesture.
I travel to Chicago every month for work. I’ve stayed in every nice hotel I don’t know why it took this long to try the Waldorf ! It’s the best luxury hotel in Chicago. Rooms and suites are amazing The vibe is perfect. Staff is great I love the location. It’s the top of all Chicago hotels
Hotel and staff were excellent. Especially James at breakfast and Luis helping with car and luggage.
Dining in options were great, service was unmatched
I asked for alcohol to be removed from the room, but it never was
clean, good location
The food is so badddddd is even worse than any food from airport food quality. I ordered breakfast twice and this lunch.
The breakfast smells disgusting , eggs are from plastic package.
The lunch pasta is soft/overcooked, chicken breast tastes over proceed and cheap quality, and sauce is disgustingly. This certainly does not match the level of five star hotel catering.
The location was fabulous for walking to all the shopping and restaurants. It had excellent staff and facilities.
It was a little more expensive than I normally would pay
This is the type of hotel you truly do not want to leave. The staff are all amazing, and friendly. I think one thing I like about this hotel is that even though it is obviously high end, the staff are all very approachable and kind. The spa staff in particular were so friendly and personable and were always interested in where we were going.
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here, and the concierge went above in beyond, helping us secure a very nice upgrade and some lovely bubbles. They provided me some great ideas for dinner reservations also.
The pool is lovely and came in handy when the weather wasn't so nice. I had an amazing massage at the spa and those facilities are amazing and worth seeking out even if not staying at the hotel.
You have a phone number that you can text throughout your stay and they were always very responsive, nothing was too much trouble. The beds are comfortable and the Aesop amenities are lovely! I will be dreaming of heading back as soon as I am able.
Highly recommend! We celebrated our anniversary here, and the personalized service made it truly unforgettable. From the warm welcome to the excellent guest services, delicious breakfast, and wonderful dinner, every part of our stay was exceptional. The hospitality and attention to detail really stood out. A special thank you to Alicia and the entire Brass Tack team for making our celebration so memorable. We appreciate everything you did to make our stay special!
Wonderful hotel stay at Waldorf Astoria Chicago. Special thanks to Janella P. at the front desk for her kindness and warm hospitality. She made our stay even better.
John
Our stay at Waldorf Astoria Chicago was exceptional from beginning to end, and it made our anniversary trip truly unforgettable.
The service was outstanding across every department. We especially want to recognize Demi Devaux at the front desk. She greeted us with the warmest smile every time we saw her, was incredibly attentive to every request, and always made us feel genuinely cared for. She was also so kind and welcoming to our baby, which meant a lot to our family.
We would also like to thank Luis from and the valet team. He was consistently friendly, professional, and efficient, making every arrival and departure smooth and enjoyable. His positive attitude and excellent service left a wonderful impression.
One of the things that stood out most was the hotel’s attention to detail. We casually mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary, and the team remembered it throughout our stay, making us feel truly special. Those thoughtful touches are exactly what set a luxury hotel apart.
The property itself is beautiful, elegant, and impeccably maintained. The facilities are excellent, and every staff member we encountered provided genuine hospitality. It is clear that everyone takes pride in creating an exceptional guest experience.
Thank you to Demi, Luis, and the entire Waldorf Astoria Chicago team for making this such a memorable stay. We look forward to returning in the future.
Amazing from the moment we arrived. Deondre checked us in and treated us like family. Our kiddo was traveling with us so they added a note to make the pull out bed at turn down service. Everyone we ce in contact with was top notch, I wish I'd asked for all their names! We enjoyed dinner off property but stopped by the restaurant for a beverage. The bartender was so professional and the bar area was always clean. She made us a drink with the ingredients she had available and it was delicious. Check out was easy and Luis and Christian were our last interactions with the hotel and they were very courteous and helped us get everything to the car. Can't wait for the next time to Chicago.
