It was the cheapest hotel i could find around Amsterdam, about AUD 70 per night compared to AUD 200 per night. However, I would expect some basic clean toilet with shampoo. But the place is dirty, rats running around the lobby and there is absolute nothing in the toilet and the room is cold. Worst nightmare I had.
People were friendly. Hotel was clean and the location was closer to the city. Furniture was okay but could be better. The overall environment was good and friendly. The only problem was that sometimes it was noisy.
It's a noisy location, with street noise entering the room undampened.
It is old, worn down place and not very clean either.
The entery door is old and unfitted, so a lot of times it does not work and you can't get in, then when it does unlock it sticks and is very noisy to open and close, which can wake up other sleeping guest if somebody comes home late after a night out on the town and can't get in!
Definitely NOT a place for couples, this should be a crappy hostel NOT hotel. The beds will have you crying for mercy (two super small beds that push across the room if either of you lay down at the same time). They go straight to the floor when you lay or sit on them and fold up on you as well. The rooms are stuffy and very small. There are NO TV'S in any of the rooms as they state on their site. The mold on the walls and ceilings in bathroom are ridiculous. Power went out in the room and noone seemed to even care and could care to be bothered when the issue was brought to the front desk. This was indeed a RIP off.
Dette var ikke et hotel jeg ville anbefale. Det hele så faldefærdigt ud og sengene var forfærdelige!
Bathroom facilities don´t have a sink, was having to brush my teeth in the shower.
Mattress has seen better days!
I gave a refundable deposit for the towel, which at the end of my stay when handed in the towel there was an issue.
This is not a stuck-up review. Fair and honest globetrotter giving it. Effective value of the place 15 Euros (ordinary dorm bed at 50 is a blunt theft!!!...); given the fact that is Amsterdam it would be a Maximum(!!!!!!!!!!) of 25 Euros despite the "Vintage" conditions...this is a hostel remember!!! Brilliant the fact that I paid only 17 Euros total for 2 nights as it was on special deal, so very pleased with it!. Relative and basic cleanliness (the minimum service expected is delivered: clean and ok!). Invited to enter in discussion when asking for Sugar or Creamer (that you still have to ask...not displayed for budgeting :-D) if it is the 3rd tea you drink: this makes you wonder a lot about the mentality. The italian girl at the reception was kind and accommodating in the service though as she was still new to the place. Thumbs up for Giulia! RadheKrishnaRam
Great location (just 10-15 minutes to the city center). The room was clean and had everything in order, except maybe for the beds that were a little creaky (WD-40 to rescue :) ). All in all, I recommend it for a short-term stay if you are visiting Amsterdam for travel (ideally, a weekend).
Booked 2 nights . Stayed 1 which was horrific . Fighting, arguing ,shared toilet which was discusting urine everywhere. My sister injured her leg on the broken bed .the twin beds were odd ( 1 metal 1 wood . Could go on but it would take hours yo actually explain how poor this hotel really is
Location is good....... After that it's downhill..
Expedia website states the money would be taken at the hotel on arrival which was perfect as I wished to pay on another card in Euros rather than use my GBP account.
A week before our arrival the money was taken from my GBP account with fees applied so we ended up paying extra.
I messaged the hotel through Expedia and never received a response.
The hotel is easy to find... it's the scruffiest looking building in the street.
Our room was on the first floor. There was hardly any paint left on the wooden handrails and the carpet on the stairs was old, patchy and threadbare. The walls were also tired and desperate for a lick of paint or wallpaper. On the hallway table, outside of our room was someone’s discarded shower gel and boxer shorts.
In the room the only clean things were the sheets and towels. The rooms were old. Woodwork, walls, carpet and furniture all in desperate need of refurbishment.
My brother's bed leaned to one side causing him to fall out on two separate nights.
There was no hot water for shaving with from the wash hand basin taps.
The bathroom door architrave had gaps between the 'paintwork' which had been sellotaped over to attempt to protect from moisture and there was a few' messages written on the woodwork, one written by 'Denzo 2014'!!
There was damp and mould above the shower area and between the tile grout.
The walls are paper-thin too, you can hear everything from next door, outside the room and above!
Hotel location is good.
Shower room had damp on the walls.
Previous guests had written on the walls in the bathroom. This has never been removed. One message read 'Denzo 2014'!
Hotel is noisy. Condition of the hotel seems as if it hadn't been decorated for many years.
We were charged before arrival. We expected to pay on arrival. No hot water in wash basin. Condition of carpet on stairs is threadbare. Bed was unstable.
Was advertised as a quadruple single bedroom with shared bathroom turned out to be a noisy 12 bunk bed room, was very dirty one toilet for the whole floor. Asked for a refund and was refused didn’t stay here for the night, had to check out and find another hotel that was clean.
city center - check
wifi - nope
clean - nope
comfortable - nope
cheap - nope
rats - check
I cannot describe this place other than HORRIBLE! We paid about $100 for a night in this place (and thanks god we stayed just for a night), and it was not worth the price at all. We woke up in the middle of the night due to unusual noises coming from the corner of the room, turned out we were not allowed to have food (we had chips) in the room, cause rats "can smell it and come up" to the 2nd floor of a building!!
The hotel is too poor , bad smell in the room , no elevator with a room in the third floor with a lot of bags to carry and no one to help with it.
They told us no one to carry the bags and no avlabiltity for lower floors
Not recommended at all
They told me to update my credit card via Expedia 2 weeks prior. The day of my flight they cancelled saying there was a payment issue. All my info was correct. I had to book another hotel.
Cheap and poor, but what can you expect? One of the bathrooms was really nasty and kind of broken. Far away from the City center but easy access by tram. The staff was ok. I didnt get bitten by insects or animals. Cannot recommend.
Great location and price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable.
This is not an hotel it is an hostel. Looks nothing like the pictures,I booked for 2 nights . But could only stay one. I was with my sister . The room was pokey with odd beds. One bed was badly damaged. My sister went to the shared toilet in the night not only did she hurt her leg on the broken bed . She stood in a urine flooded toilet . We struggled up 2 flights of stairs with heavy luggage . Couldnt use the key they provided . Man on desk had to let us back in. He just said waiting on carpenter.. the room door was same . Also Couldnt lock shared toilet .. if you have any sense stay away it's discusting ..I could go on but I'm too upset
The entire place reeks of urine. My shower door had been broken so they just removed it. I had to mop up my own bathroom after every shower. The toilet seat was broken so you have to firmly hold it in place while you sit. My view was of the rooftop of the hotel where there was garbage dirty underwear and used condoms strewn about for me to enjoy. Checkout day we had a later flight so we left our luggage in the hotel luggage hold and went for lunch and sightseeing. It was very cold and raining so we went back to the hotel after lunch. We were sitting in the lobby to wait for a bit and get a taxi. The man working the desk (he had glasses, i wish I knew his name) approached us and was VERY VERY rude, we have no idea why. He told us "collect your things and leave". We told him we had a late flight but he basically kicked us out in the rain with all our luggage. I have never stayed in a hotel where you cannot wait on the property for a later flight and I most certainly have never been talked to like that as a customer. I cant believe I paid € 250 to be treated like that. Run from this place. Please notice i normally don't give bad reviews so that says something as well.
beds were bad, no wardrobe or even a table to put the bag on, only a chair and 2 beds in the room,
staff is very rude and dont want to do anything or even help answering guests question.
location is great everything else is not.
