Mixed feelings
Pros:

The town is gorgeous. But you need to be ok walking up and down steep hills
The actual location of the hotel in the town was fantastic and the little free bus going up and down the hill all day was a god send.
The hotel staff - particularly the bag porters were really good. Helpful and polite. I asked for more teabags and got a freshly brewed pot delivered, which was a lovely touch.
The pick up from town by the hotel was very welcome. Its a tricky hotel to find and the hills are very steep.

Cons:

The bathroom plumbing was not great, water pressure was low
Toilet flush weak. Not as clean as it could have been.
The little veranda was too hot to sit out on , it needed a sun umberella as the sun is on the veranda all day and it was hitting 39 - 40 degrees. So paid for a room facility impossible to use.
Our room was not in the main hotel, it was outside and down some steps so we never really got to see the hotel or staff that much. It felt like we were staying in a motel - an exceedingly expensive motel!!
The pick up ftom the station was great but they arranged an 11.45am pick up and didnt arrive until 12.30pm which was a bit irritating waiting in the intence heat. They did not tell us where to wait either so we were in the wrong place which increased our wait time.
We had intended to eat the hotel but the dining toom and veranda were way to hot to sit in. They need air con of some sort

I would recommend visiting the historic old town but not staying there.
Pros:

Unique property in a medieval village

Cons:

Parking locations far from hotel and lack of easy transportation to/from the property were a major nuisance and required extra planning, time and physical effort.

An unforgettable stay for our engagement
Pros:

Château Le Cagnard was honeslty one of the best parts of our whole trip. We stayed here to celebrate our engagement and from the moment we arrived the staff went above and beyond for us. We werent totally happy with our original room and the bed, and instead of just brushing it off they upgraded us to a much better room at no extra cost, which honestly meant so much given the occasion. They also suprised us with some lovely gifts to celebrate the engagement, such a nice personal touch that we didnt expect at all.

The hotel itself is just stunning, full of character and charm, the kind of place that actually feels special rather than just another hotel room. Every member of staff we interacted with was warm, helpful and genuinely positive, nothing felt forced or like they were just doing their job, you could tell they actually cared.

Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area, especially if your celebrating something special. Thank you to the whole team at Le Cagnard for making our stay unforgettable!

Cons:

Honestly can’t think of anything, the room mixup got sorted so fast it barely counts as a complaint. Also the location might be a challenge since its inside a medieval village and we had to walk to our car for around 8-12 mins

Bijzondere ervaring, speciale plek in rustige middeleeuwse omgeving.
Pros:

So special... loved it ..

Charming and comfortable but overpriced
Pros:

Great location, both at a macro level (inside the Cagnes Villle Haute, beautiful medieval town) and local level (spread around several older structures but very cleverly integrated.) Extremely clean and tidy. The room met expectations and was comfortable. The staff was very kind and they all spoke English... but some did not speak French very well! Warning to any French speaker I guess.

Cons:

First, I thought the staff, while kind, was generally unhelpful. They felt young and fresh (we came in June) and they needed to go find answers somewhere else for 70% of my questions. Some were minor (e.g. how to operate the pool controls) but some were a big deal (e.g. specific room charges at checkout.) Overall the staff training did not meet my expectation at that price point.

Which brings me to the price. I don't think the value is there. It is a very charming hotel in a beautiful location, but the experience did not command what we paid.
