Everything exceed my expectations! The staff, the comfort, the attentiveness to details and to all the requests, the food, the view - truly an exceptional stay!
We opted to visit all 3 Machu Picchu circuits over 3 days and we couldn't be happier about the experience. It is an expensive stay though the exclusivity & opportunity is worth it!
Our stay that the Sanctuary was perfect . Location next to the entrance couldn’t be better and it never felt overwhelming event though you are next to the gates .. Hotel was well maintained , service was exceptional .. can so much more than that I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit .
Amazing place and experience in front of the Machu Picchu mountains. The restaurant is a must go for visitors before or after entering Machu Picchu. Food and services are great.
Went for lunch and really enjoyed the drinks, food and ambiance. Service from Alexander and William was awesome.
Unbelievable! The location and staff were fantastic. The food was amazing as was the entire environment. We felt like family while at the lodge.
After a long wet day at Manchu Picchu my husband and I decided to get lunch and drinks here at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. I knew the service we would get would be top tier but, nothing prepared me for the EXCEPTIONAL service we would get from our server Russell.
Russell was a wealth of knowledge about the menu but, more importantly about Peru and it’s beautiful culture.
Our drinks were done with such expertise and delicious. Please get the homemade ice cream as it was one of the best I’ve had ever.
Thank you Russell and the Belmont for such a great afternoon. I’m wiser and more knowledgeable after speaking with Russell.
10/10 recommend. Specifically the service was incredible. So thoughtful. After the potato ceremony the chef made us a special dish we requested. They went above and beyond in every way. Bartender invented a drink for us!
Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is a slice of luxury sat in an exclusive position right next to the entrance to Machu Pichu, the only hotel there. Before arriving I had spent a few weeks traveling around Peru with my partner and when we arrived at the hotel I was pretty tired, however I was immediately made welcome and relaxed by the always smiley Jaciel who invited us for fresh tea whilst she arranged a smooth check in, thank you, much needed! Throughout our stay we ate lunch and dinner in the lodge restaurant and the food was exceptional in taste and quality but it also felt authentically grounded in the local culture, each course was explained to us by the always friendly staff who could not have done more to keep the experience amazing. We were even offered off menu local treats between courses too, presented by the chef. Breakfast was a particular once in a lifetime experience, fresh fruit and an Amazonian bowl served in the beautiful gardens overlooking Mach Pichu. Whilst there I even indulged in the onsite spa where Nancy (AMAZING) gave me a local Amazonian massage and facial which I highly recommend. On the morning of the main event , the sunrise visit to Machu Pichu itself my partner and I were met by Fatima our tour guide for the day. Fatima was recommended by Sanctuary and arranged through the hotel. She had coffee with us and set up what was a once in a lifetime guided tour of the site, she was so knowladgeble and friendly. She even saw I was little apprehensive at the beginning of the tour (me and heights) but no bother she tailored the experience to accommodate me and made me feel really comfortable so we could properly enjoy it, much appreciated. Overall I would highly recommend staying at Sanctuary Lodge, its a once in a lifetime experience and most refreshing all the staff really went out of their way to make us welcome and looked after - even the manageress Maria came out to say hi and spent some time with us. Thank you, a lifetime memory, gracias 😊
Floriana did an amazing massage, she was amazing and very knowledgeable. She helped me with my back and offered me a delicious coca tea!
We stayed here on Christmas Eve. It was magical! While the rooms are smaller and simple, the attention to detail was impeccable. From the included items such as mosquito repellent, foot rub creams, salt scrubs, etc to holiday details such as artisan chocolates and textiles, the offerings were local and exceptional. Christmas Eve dinner was lovely. The service was perfect and there was the same attention to detail and local offerings here as well. Local musicians performed throughout the meal. It was amazing. Finally, the gardens out back had gorgeous orchids. We sat out there every free moment simply to enjoy the amazing vistas. While this hotel is undeniable pricey, for us it was bucket list experience that has definitely become a core memory. I am grateful for every moment there.
We stayed at Sanctuary Lodge as part of a family tour through Peru. All of the hotels we stayed at were Belmond properties, and although this was not the fanciest of the group, the service was outstanding from the moment we arrived after hiking the 16km up the Inca Trail from km 104. Jaciel with her bright smile at the front desk really made us feel welcome. I’m sorry I didn’t note the names of other staff members but truly the entire team was outstanding.
There are only 31 rooms so book early. And if you are doing the hike I feel it is particularly important. I cannot imagine after a 5.5 hr hike in 25c weather plus the altitude to have to take a bus down to the town below for accommodations. Also once we hiked up and descended another 45 min to MP and the Lodge there was no way we would have been able to tour MP properly. We literally crawled into the oasis that is Sanctuary Lodge and they took care of us.
After a well deserved rest we met our guide in the morning and leisurely explored MP for a couple of hours. We took the bus down and hopped onto the Hiram Bingham train back to Cusco. It was an absolutely perfect way to explore the area.
Our stay at the Sanctuary at Machu Picchu was absolutely extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless, thoughtful, and special. The setting alone is breathtaking, but the warmth of the staff, the comfort of the accommodations, and the attention to detail elevated the experience to something truly unforgettable. We felt completely taken care of while still immersed in the magic of Machu Picchu. Quite honestly, nothing could have made this stay better—it was perfect in every way. We would return in a heartbeat (and probably try to never leave).
If you want to near Machu Picchu, this is the hotel you want to stay to complete the experience. We stayed only one night. However, the experience we have received was beyond our expectations. We have travelled across 7 continents, 5 oceans. I have to say that this is the best hotel we have ever stayed. Highly recommended!!!
The Sanctuary Lodge would be one of top places I have stayed in my entire life. The location is just incredible - right at the entrance of the citadel. If you are traveling with children or elderly parents, do not even think twice and stay at the Lodge. After a long day at the citadel or climbing the mountains, I was glad that the Sanctuary was right there and I could spoil myself with a nice pisco sour and an amazing meal at the end of the day. The hotel is extremely comfortable with all modern amenities surrounded by spectacular scenery. The terrace is such a cool spot to just hang out with a drink or coffee and take in the scenery of the breathtaking mountains. The place will cost you a pretty penny, but worth at least five times more. You must stay there at least once in your life.
We were on a tour of Moncha Pinchu, stopped in the restaurant for food and drinks. Jeus and his colleagues were very nice, polite and the service was great. The food was good as well and I would recommend this restaurant.
It was totally worth it. Perfect location. Every detail makes a difference. A unique experience to be remembered in a lifetime.
the hotel is at the doorstep of Machu Picchu. The rooms and amenities were lovely. The staff was warm, welcoming and gracious. The food in the restaurant was good. I highly recommend Sanctuary Lodge for your Machu Picchu visit.
The food is ok but the service I received from Jeus was top notch. He was courteous and patients He is excellent and it was a pleasure dining at Tinkuy.
After exploring the ancient grounds of the Incas, Machu Picchu. What better way to end your exploration by having a lunch buffet at the Tinkuy Buffet Restaurant in Machu Picchu. Not only do you feel welcome by the friendly host, the service provided is out of this world, especially if you are attended by the most kind and friendliest waiter, Alexander Diaz. Not knowing what his plans were throughout my lunch, he pleasantly surprised me with a miniature birthday cake and a choir that sang Happy Birthday to me. That nice gesture will definitely be engraved in my memory for life. “Bravo” to the management and the friendly staff at the Tinkuy Buffet Restaurant and for the delicious cuisine I was served. I would definitely make an effort to dine at this restaurant after your exploration of Machu Picchu.😋
