Don't stay here. We will not stay here again.
Pros:

Honestly, nothing. Anything that could have been likeable was overshadowed by the bad experience we had.

Cons:

The faucet in the bath didnt work properly. Staff offered us another room but with two "twin" (definitely singles) instead of the one "queen" (definitely a double) beds. We decided to stay with the larger bed and not shower, we were only there one night.

Make sure you find the thermostat and turn it up when you arrive. We didnt realize it hadn't been turned up for us before we arrived until we were trying to sleep in a room that was 15C.

The worst part happened next. The fire alarm in the room started to chirp around 1130pm and said "low battery in server" every minute or so. We called the front desk for help. Two staff arrived and one looked at us and asked if WE knew how to fix it. I dont blame the staff for this as its the managers job to train their staff. Fire safety should be high on the training priority list! Long story short they could not get it to stop chirping, even with new batteries. So we were switched rooms around midnight, this time to one with the same size bed.

In the morning we talked to the staff about the above experience. There was no offer for compensation or indication that they would be making repairs. We had to ask, and emphasized the fire safety concern. We were told he could not authorize anything and that his manager would be in by 1130am. We went for breakfast and came back around 1145. Another staff greeted us and said he was aware of the situation. He was not the manager and told us the manager wasn't in. We were promised a phone call from the manager as soon as he came in.

Its been two days with no call. We will be calling the fire department so that someone will check in on their fire safety.

A lot of inconveniences for the stay here
Pros:

Location other than parking challenges
Room is small but comfortable

Cons:

Seem to be very short staffed with one lady doing everything. There was no checkin available upon arrival and I was instructed to ring a doorbell, rang it 3 times. Finally she came down to check me in. But still needed to vacuum my room. That was fine because I had to go get other stuff from my truck which was parked 2 blocks away. Got back and the room was ready. Went to use the washroom and realized the TP had not been restocked. Found the staff member in the hallway and received some. Tried to get my devices on the wifi and there is no information on how to get on. Went looking for the staff member again and after 3-4 min I found her. She takes me to the end of the hallway and the info is posted on the wall in the hallway. Would it be that hard to put a piece of paper in the hotel room. The TV had no local channels it is a Roku and it kept losing its wifi connection when I tried to watch something. Gave up and watched stuff on my iPad

Pros:

The location

Cons:

The staff did not resemble any sort of professional experience and or uniforms to indicate they worked there (at the front desk) when I checked in a waited for about 10 minutes for someone to arrive to check us in. The individual was wearing sweat pants and a hoodie with no name tags. Very hard to communicate with in regards to check in check out procedures. My credit card was then charged multiple times for deposits, which is fine. But later to find out that my colleague staying there, their deposits were also charged to my card as well even though we booked completely separate.

The windows did not close in our room to the outside. It was -19 outside, made for a cold night. The cranks of the windows weren’t even attached so opening or closing was not an option. The screen to the window was broken. The lamps of the bedside tables did not work and the shower was quite dirty. Will not be staying at this location again. Even though it’s on the cheaper side of hotels in the area, sleeping in a cold room with windows that don’t close in the winter is not worth the savings….

Good location but terrible housekeeping
Pros:

The location was great, central downtown Banff.

Cons:

We first arrived to the room to find that the only window was broken and stuck open while it was -25 outside. The thermostat was also broken, falling off the wall, and couldn’t be adjusted. Various stains on the walls and ceiling. Worst of all, there were someone else’s bathing suit and old towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door that housekeeping didn’t clean from the last people that stayed.

Would never stay again and would not recommend. Very disappointing for my first over night stay in Banff
Pros:

It was close to where I needed to be

Cons:

Everything was run down. Stains in the towels, rips in the duvet covers, bed was worn down. Bathroom needed to be painted. Bathtub leaked. Shampoo, conditioner dispenser was broken. My credit card was charged to another guests room for the key deposit, as well as my own key deposit. For key and fob deposits I was charged $160

J'y retournerais, mais seul.
Pros:

Banff is exceptional and King Edward hotel is right in line with this expectation; highly recommend!
Pros:

The location is perfect, right in downtown. It's a little dated but kept up very well and super clean! The front desk lady was very patient will all my questions, and super nice.

Cons:

Checkout is a little early, but they did allow us to explore and leave the car parked while we did so.
