Caol Ishka Hotel

Coole Location, aber etwas in die Jahre gekommen, renovierungsbedürftig.

Pleasing stay at the Caol Ishka. It is well located to visit all the sites and sights of Syracuse and the surrounding area. The staff were very friendly and informative.

Op zich mooi design. Maar zo veel vocht in omgeving en muren, dat er overal overgeverfde schimmel zit, wat je in de kamers ruikt en waardoor alles kloof voelt. Ook houten elementen zoals de kamerdeuren rotten. Slechte staat!

Heel vriendelijke mensen en een goede service. Toch is het eerder B&B dan een hotel. Interessant kamer concept maar we misten toch vooral een raam. Wel veel last gehad van muggen, toch vonden we het verblijf geslaagd!

Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und da das Zimmer noch nicht fertig war bot man uns etwas zu trinken an(Cafe und Capucino). Der erste Eindruck als man die Tür öffnete war oh eine weitere Rezeption. Bei genauerer Betrachtung ist es eine gemauerte Wand die als Rückwand zum Bett dient. Man kann also vom Bett die Tür gar nicht sehen Fenster gibt es auch nicht. Erst bei weiterem Hinsehen sah man die dreckigen Wand Boden Ecken die Flecken im Wohnbereich im Bad grosse Flecken die Duschkabine mit wackeligen Holzleisten (wie es darunter aussieht kann man erahnen.Insgesamt ein sehr schmudeliger unhygiescher kalter Krankenhauseindruck.. Am nächten Morgen wurde ich freundlich gefragt ob ich ein anderes Zimmer mir ansehen wollte man habe vom Servicepersonal erfahren ich hätte mich beschwert(Nur bei der Erstbefragung von Expedia) das ich aber freundlich ablehnte da ich meine Urlaubszeit nicht mit Zimmerbesichtigung und Umzug vergeuden wollte hatte wir doch unsren ersten Schock überlebt.Am Sonntag wurden wir von 6 Wienern gefragt die auf der Terasse saßen wie uns die Anlage gefällt. Wir sagten Anlage sehr schön Zimmer s.o. Man bestätigte uns das sie die ersten Zimmer aus gleichem Grund abgelehnt hätten und man jetzt neue Zimmer für sie herrichte(Also sind wir kein Einzelfall)

Prima hotel om vanuit deze plek syracusa en omgeving te ontdekken. Uitgebreid ontbijt en attent, hulpvaardig en vriendelijk personeel.

Beautiful resort, friendly service, good breakfast. If you have a car and you want to get some nature, it’s a perfect spot to discover the area of Syracuse.

The hotel itself is stylish and minimalistic, but slightly run down. A little make over would make the whole experience way better.

Rustig hotel met maar 10 verspreide kamers. 4 sterren wordt een beetje afgedaan door het achterstallig onderhoud. De verschillende design kamers zijn leuk als architectuur je bevalt. Maar zorg dan dat alle features, licht, kranen ook werken en aanwezig zijn zoals bedoeld. Personeel is heel erg aardig en behulpzaam. Zwembad is netjes en door beperkt aantal gasten vaak privé. Te voet moeilijker te bereiken en enkele km vanaf centrum ortigia. In het donker niet eerste keer makkelijk te vinden door indicatie Google maps of andere navigatie. Restaurant eigenlijk alleen voor eigen gasten en vaak leeg. Kwaliteit eten is gied maar stevig aan de prijs tov andere gelegenheden in de buurt.

On our Sicilian road trip adventure we headed to Syracuse and lucked upon Caol Ishka. It is nicely located about 2 minutes drive to the old town of Ortigia. The staff are exceptionally friendly, the pool was heaven and the setting being out of town was really relaxing. The breakfast and dinner was wonderful and I would highly recommend this relaxing hide away to any travellers looking for a home away from home feel in a quaint and private area of Syracuse.

This hotel is down a dirt track, just a couple of miles out of Syracuse (along a busy road: not really walkable), in what feels like a rural location. The pool is glorious; breakfast excellent. Bikes are provided, though not much indication given of where one might ride them to; there's also a canoe in the river that flows just alongside it. The purpose-built modern rooms were stylish, if a little dark (and inhabited by ants in our case), and not perfectly sound-insulated. The restaurant didn't seem to be fully operational, so we drove into Syracuse for supper. The staff were all perfectly friendly.

The hotel is conveniently located very close to Syracuse but in a country setting with plenty of parking. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful and gave good recommendations on the area. The hotel needs some improved maintenance especially in the bathrooms.

Bello il posto. Personale cortese e professionale. La colazione è superlativa e poi anche la piscina, la tranquillità del posto e le attività sportive con bike sharing e canoe... cos’altro? Bravi

silenzioso e curato. posizione ottima per Siracusa. bellissima ristrutturazione, letto comodo, bagno spazioso. personale affabile ed efficiente.
mancanze: in camera (soppalcata) non c'è uno specchio e non ci sono luci all'ingresso (solo al piano superiore ed in bagno). non c'è la finestra ma solo una grande porta a vetri di accesso. la musica a colazione è un po' alta e molto "discoteca".
rimane comunque consigliatissimo

Had a lovely time, beautiful setting and very comfortable rooms. Our bed was on the mezzanine up a narrow staircase so not good for those with mobility issues, but we enjoyed it. Had a lovely day by the pool and sitting on our private patio. the hotel is a lovely calm oasis and is really nicely decorated and laid out. Only negative is don't go without a car as it is a bit far from town and you can't walk along the road as it's really busy and has no pavement. Taxis were also pretty expensive - 20 Euros to go into Syracuse, so 40 for a day out.

Very friendly and polyglot staff, nice atmosphere, good location, good restaurant, really nice breakfast with local products. Could improve a few things for the price they are charging: airco in the rooms not really powerful and stopping at times. Kitchen often run out of drinks and fruits etc. - had to wait until next day to get replenished. Very weak/wifi impossible to use most of the time.

I don't normally write reviews but after our stay at Caol Ishka felt compelled to do so. In the first two days of our stay I took ill and ended up in hospital. The manager Giancarlo, his family and staff really looked after my wife Jill and even sent me food parcels. When I left the hospital and returned to the hotel I was greeted by every member of staff asking how I was. I don't think I've ever known such warmth and hospitality as we received at Caol Ishka. Not only that the food is excellent and as good as any of the great restaurants Giancarlo booked us into.

We had with my pregnant wife a small journey in sicilia and stayed one night to Caol ishka hotel. It was perfect! Only 10 rooms with a maximum of initimity. The two mens we met are really cool and all was made to make your stay the greatest possible. Nice swimming pool and good restaurant. Cocktail on the swimming pool after checkout, free canoë with a river on the park.....we ´ll probably come back later!

What a beautiful quiet oasis awaits you in off the main road only 5 mins by from car from Syracuse. Ticks all the boxes for peaceful relaxation, wonderful staff, great service, fabulous food and excellent amenities with free mountain bikes, swimming pool & loungers, canoes on the adjacent river and private screened decking area off the bedroom. Eat twice at lunchtime and food was simply fabulous. Breakfasts are plentiful with lots of selection. Others have warned of mosquitoes - yes quite plentiful on the river if you take out the canoe! The quirky fit out of our bedroom was nice. However the loft bed up over the bathroom with access via a metal stairs could prove difficult if elderly or any way hard of walking as it is very steep and could prove awkward. Someone could get quite a surprise to arrive to it! Best to enquire on booking room layout. Great quiet roads to cycle around for miles in lovely Sicilian countryside from around the back of the hotel away from Syracuse. Would we go back? Most definitely!
