Too close to the past. Everything is old, nothing is gold. We basically paid for the view — the rest came as a free history lesson.

Es war so, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte.
Pros:

Das Hotel liegt direkt an der Strandpromenade. Man hat einen tollen Blick auf das Meer. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. An der Strandpromenade sind viele gute Restaurants, in denen frisch gekocht wird und mit einem guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Strandpromenade ist nicht so überlaufen wie der Venizianische Hafen. Aber man ist in 15 - 20 Minuten zu Fuß am Venizianischen Hafen und in der Altstadt.

Comfortable hotel in great location
Pros:

We have stayed at the Danaos three times. It is in a great location, immediately opposite the Nea Chora beach. The rooms at the front have sea views, but we stayed in a cheaper room at the back. The balcony was a reasonable size, the bed comfortable, good air conditioning (at no extra cost) and a nice bathroom including a modern shower. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a nice bar at the front of the hotel which also serves food. The old Venetian Harbour and Chania old town are about a 15 minute walk away. We will certainly stay here again.
