From the welcoming check-in, free upgrade on my room, to engineering supper during a personal crisis I can’t say enough great things about this hotel.

I travel to Chicago multiple times a year and this is my first stay at Royal Sonesta River North. It’s the best sleep I’ve had in the years I have been coming here, rooms are clean, and all staff have been welcoming and friendly, but it’s the engineering team, Rocco and Benjamin who went above and beyond.

I lost a sentimental necklace behind the bathroom cabinet. They were in my room within 5 minutes. They assured me they would get my necklace back for me, were professional and kind, cracked jokes to ease my nerves, and did successfully retrieve my necklace for me.

Royal Sonesta is officially my go-to hotel and I won’t be staying anywhere else when I come to Chicago.

This hotel is absolutely not a 4* hotel. The beds do not have duvet covers - the duvet is in between 2 sheets & was not clean. The under sheet didn’t fit the bed - see pics. These items were highlighted to the staff & pleasant and all as the staff were they thought this was an acceptable way to make a bed - it is a health & safety risk. We were a family of 4 & only had towels for 3 - had to get more sent to room. I also had a towel of my own removed from the room - it was hanging up - normal practice in hotels is that towels hanging up aren’t removed for laundry. There was no coffee making facilities in room. Outdoor garden area is very small & due to marijuana being legal it reeked of it as did the lifts constantly in hotel. Went to restaurant for breakfast for convenience one morning - not worth it - there are far better options within a 5min walk. Only positive was proximity to landmarks - I’d bet the sister hotel a few blocks away in downtown is a far higher quality 4*. Will nor return or recommend

I liked everything about this hotel. The staff were welcoming and did everything to make my stay comfortable. The decor of the hotel was cute and the location was perfect.

Me gusto la estetica del hotel, su amabilidad, y por dejarnos entrar antes al hotel pagando una cuota extra. No se escucha el ruido en la noche, siendo buena zona cerca del chicago theatre, y restaurantes.

Close to the red line, the staff were very friendly.

Location and facilities

Overall, I had a good stay at the Royal Sonesta Chicago River North. The location was excellent and made it easy to get to restaurants, shopping, and many of Chicago’s attractions.

The room was comfortable, but it wasn’t as modern as I expected, and I did notice it was a little dusty in a few areas. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but I think the housekeeping could pay a bit more attention to detail.

The highlight of my stay was definitely the staff. A special shoutout to Antwonne, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. I also want to recognize T in the CBR restaurant for being so friendly, attentive, and providing excellent service.

Overall, despite a few minor issues with the room, I enjoyed my stay and would consider staying here again because of the convenient location and outstanding customer service.

All of the workers were amazing and extremely helpful! Specially loved speaking with Spiro! His service was great, and I valued his communication daily!
