Hotel was amazing! Very Clean ! The amenities were also fantastic. Having the opportunity to stay there was a blessing. From the front desk to hotel hospitality.

Fiquei hospedada em dois apartamentos do hotel, todos com camas confortáveis, filtro de água e cafeteira no quarto, o que fez toda a diferença, principalmente o filtro de água, com toalhas macias e brancas. No primeiro tinha 2 andares. Excelente! A inclusão no preço do café da manhã do Sofitel Santa Clara e poder usufruir de toda a estrutura do Sofitel que fica do outro lado da rua é maravilhoso.

Very disappointing experience — especially compared to our stay in December.

Client care was virtually nonexistent: no acknowledgment of returning guests, no flexibility for even a half-hour early check-in, followed by an additional two-hour wait and a dispute just to receive the room we had already paid for.

Upon arrival, we were told our room — fully paid two months in advance — was only available for three nights and that we would need to move for one. We declined. After waiting an hour, we were shown a dated room roughly half the size of what we booked. Another hour of back-and-forth, including providing photo evidence and Expedia screenshots, was required before we were finally given the correct room category — the same as our previous stay. There was no apology or accountability; the entire interaction was unnecessarily stressful.

Staff repeatedly insisted the duplex we reserved was smaller than the duplex with a view. Expedia clearly shows the opposite — the one we booked is larger.

Basic standards were also lacking: a non-working TV remote, no hairdryer (and the replacement didn’t work), and a non-functioning phone. By the time we were finally settled, the Sofitel pool was closed for a private event — effectively wasting our first day.

If not for the larger room layouts compared to the Sofitel building, we would not return. Despite being positioned as a sister property, it feels more like an annex. Most positives — pool, food, and service — belong to Sofitel.

The lack of client care at Bóvedas appears consistent: during our previous stay, my birthday went unacknowledged; this time, there was no recognition as returning guests, and our confirmed booking was treated as negotiable. Very disappointing.

Stylish and comfortable accommodations for a family trip. We stayed here for a few nights with our teenage daughters and loved having the extra space and the access to all the amenities of the Santa Clara down the street. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend.

Breakfast is simply amazing

We had an exceptional stay at Hotel Bóvedas Boutique de Santa Clara, perfectly located in Cartagena’s historic Old Quarter. The hotel is a beautifully executed blend of old and new — contemporary comfort thoughtfully integrated into a building rich with history.

Breakfast is served at the adjacent Sofitel, which is set within a lush central courtyard that evokes a delightful old-world charm. It creates a calm, refined atmosphere that feels both luxurious and intimate.

Our room was extremely comfortable and well designed, with the added convenience of a mini kitchenette including a microwave and a water filtration system providing drinkable water — a small but very thoughtful touch.

What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the staff. The service was outstanding, with genuine follow-up to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. We would especially like to thank Alejandro and the breakfast service team, who were consistently warm, attentive, and professional. The staff uniforms were graceful and polished, reinforcing the hotel’s sense of elegance and care.

Excellent service and a great hotel always make for a memorable holiday experience — and Hotel Bóvedas delivers on both. If only more hotels followed this standard. Highly recommended.

Our stay at Bóvedas de Santa Clara in Cartagena was truly exceptional. The room was excellent—very spacious, beautifully designed, and impeccably clean. Every detail felt thoughtful and refined, creating a calm and luxurious atmosphere that made it easy to relax after exploring the city.

One highlight was the amazing toiletries from Loto del Sur, which added a special local and upscale touch to the experience. It’s rare to find hotel amenities of such high quality, and they made the stay feel even more indulgent.

Breakfast was simply the best we’ve ever had, served at the main Sofitel Santa Clara building. The variety, quality, and presentation were outstanding, with exceptional service to match. Having access to the Sofitel’s facilities as a guest of Bóvedas was a major advantage—we enjoyed the beautiful pool, common areas, and overall ambiance of the historic property.

The staff were consistently professional, warm, and attentive. The level of hospitality was remarkable, with genuine care shown in every interaction. Their attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond truly set this hotel apart.
