Wonderful place right on the ocean you can literally walk to anything
Beautiful view of the ocean. But the room was very small.
Lovely hotel with very friendly helpful staff. We had a beautiful spacious room with a balcony and an amazing sea view which made our stay in Siracusa extra special. And worth going to breakfast just for the views from the top floor!
We did have a small challenge finding the hotel front door (hahaha). Once we got inside, the hotel is beautiful. It does have an elevator, which is great with luggage. We used the valet offsite parking, which was GREAT. The breakfast was delicious. We did a walking tour of Ortega from the hotel. Great food options around as well. Highly recommend the hotel.
Loved the hotel and staff. Everyone was so helpful with restaurant recommendations, transfers and directions.
Our room was lovely with a breathtaking view of the sea and bathers swimming from the fort area below.
Did see that someone on booking .com mention that perhaps more furniture on the 4th floor terrace would be nice, but take the opportunity to go up there because it might be one of the best views of Ortiga!
Nice water front view
We spent a lovely few days In a lovely hotel. Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, house keeping was also very good.
Nice peaceful location yet only a 10-15 minute walk from shops, bars and restaurants, would happily return.
The furniture / beds were about 50 years old - very dated. Beds small and uncomfortable. Pull out sofa was about 2 inches thick - laughable. Tube shower attached to tub was small and weird. Worst hotel of the trip.
This is a small but fantastic hotel. The location is great- amazing views of the water and easily walking distance to restaurants and shops and all of Ortigia. The breakfast is on the top floor with windows overlooking the sea. The food was good- only complaint is the eggs were always cold. There was fresh juice, all kinds of coffee and tea. Plenty of fruit and pastries and cold cuts. A very nice continental breakfast. The staff was very helpful and gave great restaurant recommendations and directions. I loved the room overlooking the water and it had high ceilings, a nice bathroom, and a comfortable bed. It felt very regal. I highly recommend this place
We are staying here for two nights to visit Syracuse and ortigia. We drove in from Agigento and the hotel was kind to give us instructions and provide us with a car valet. Driving here was a little tricky but we made it. The room is lovely. It has a very regal vibe. I love the high ceilings and two balconies overlooking the beautiful bay. It’s very quiet. The only noise I heard was in the morning when the maid was cleaning a room next to us. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom has a jacuzzi shower and a bidet. The front desk is kind and helpful. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. There was eggs and bacon, quiche, coffee, tea, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit and tasty pastries. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone exploring this area.
We stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Livingston and really enjoyed. The staff are very helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome. The hotel is located right on the water and our suite had a wall of windows that looked right over the sea. The only thing separating the hotel from the water is a narrow street - I felt like I could almost jump out and land in the water. Our suite was spacious and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Noise was never an issue during our stay.
The included breakfast was a nice buffet with lots of options - the best breakfast selections during our trip by far. The coffee (espresso, cappuccino, etc.) was a self serve machine so it wasn't as good as you would get at an Italian cafe but it did the job.
It was an easy walk to restaurants and the main sights in Ortigia. Overall, I cannot find a fault with our stay and I would return in a heart beat. Highly recommend Hotel Livingston if you are coming to Ortigia in Syracusa.
Our stay at the Hotel Livingston was ideal for exploring the old town of Ortigia. It has an air of old world charm and elegance that was very welcome at the end of log days of trekking to different areas in the vicinity. It is tucked into a far corner of the old town and the area is quiet at night so it was great for getting a good night's sleep. The hotel staff and in particular, Giuseppe, were most pleasant and helpful in suggesting day trips and restaurants. The smallish room with it's hardwood floors and old school wood trim and papered walls was clean and the bed very comfortable. The balcony is a nice addition but note that it is too small for sitting and enjoying the remarkable view for the room. The bathroom was very large and easy for the both of us to use at the same time. Water pressure and temperature was no problem although the tub/shower arrangement was a bit unwieldy. The breakfast buffet is quite nice; nothing too special but certainly adequate for starting the day out and we did like the electric juicers. There are plenty of sights and some really wonderful restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The only downside to our room on the third floor was that it was directly below the breakfast room and the scraping of chairs on the wood floor in the morning was quite loud and disruptive. The hotel would do well to place felt or rubber tips on the feet of those chairs. We really enjoyed the comfort and convenient location of the Livingston and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
The sofa is dirty in the room. The hairdryer didn't work. The floor board was buckling. The shower space is too tight and the jets didnt work. There is not enough counterspace in bathroom. The staff are very nice but the facility needs serious updates
A good location but the led small hotel that’s in need of a major upgrade
Livingston is easily the best looking hotel in the Ortigia peninsula of Siracusa, on the eastern seaboard. The windows overlook the Mediterranean. One of the shuttered windows is actually a full-length door that opens to a very narrow balcony that gives such a great view of the water and the fortified walks that surround the peninsula. But too not look too dark, you need to open the shutters fully for both the balcony door as well as the small window to the side.
The rooms are small, too small in fact that we had great difficulty opening both luggages at the same time. But the room itself looks nice - beautifully carved work desk, night tables, and wardrobe cabinet. Walls are The lower half of the walls are wood, with the upper half in classy wall cloth. It also had three beautiful wall lamps, one above each of the night tables and one on a wall.
Another complaint was the lack of outlets/ There were no outlets on the work desk, unless you removed the desk lamp. Also no outlets on the night tables but there was one behind the night table - so you had to move the table forward and reach down.
The wash basin is artsy but poorly designed, with very shallow catch and water on the side of the sink doesn't drain well. they had a bidet which was a plus for my wife but bidet but the toilet seat cover was aslant which was worrisome. The shower stall is the one with different nozzles but it was hard to figure out how to switch from showered to rain forest to nozzles - so we made do with shower head.
There was no comforter, only a bed spread, which at least matched the curtains.
Breakfast was on the 4th floor. It was basic but at least they had salmon, an orange squeezer with fresh oranges, and strawberries, which we had not seen in other breakfasts.
They had a hot water pot but supposedly you couldn't use tap water since the tap water was slightly salty. Oh, and the phone didn't work.
Wonderful location! Walking distance to all of Ortigia. Highly recommended.
Beautiful city, great centrally located property. Walkable to everything. Really wish the pool was not undergoing maintenance.
Old and unique building with perfectly dated rooms. Nice breakfast with beautiful views. Helpful staff
Fantastic terrace with sea view. Staff lovely! Room small but cute.
Lovely hotel overlooking the sea. Nice rooftop area that could possibly be better utilised. Room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was very good and the staff were all very friendly and helpful
