Pros:

Pool is nice, food was pretty good. Noise from many party yachts at Cholon is annoying. Ended up with quite a few mosquito bites from our room. They’re rustic, and have some gaps in wood for insects to enter.

Pros:

This place was amazing. Beautiful views right on the beach, clean beautiful rooms with a very nice pool, second floor lounging to view the islands and a dock for boat tours to pick you up. Food was amazing! Breakfast lunch and dinner with lots of delicious choices.
Best part was the service from the staff. Kitchen was friendly and made very yummy food. Sergio and Lecrecia were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. They made the beautiful amenities even better.
I recommend this place to everyone and I look forward to a return visit here.

Pros:

This is a jewel for those who are looking for a unique and peaceful place were you can rest, enjoy the sound of the ocean, the birds, the colors, the nature. A different kind of tourism that is not the typical full of parties and music.

They welcomed us with a drink and a smile. Along our stay Sergio, his wife and the ladies in the kitchen, all of them were very kind and amazing people. They are part of the beauty of this place.
Thank you to all staff!

The rooms are like in the photos, probably even better in person (we stayed at the one with the ocean view).

There is a small beach, but it is enough and it makes all sense that is not more than that as it gives you this feeling of privacy. I LOVE the fact they respect the mangles and haven't being intruse or destroyed the nature. This has LOTS of value in the middle of all the other chains of hotels, that are full of truism without conscious.

The food is delicious although expensive (however this is common in Cartagena).

As something that can be improved, I believe that for what you pay per night, a bottle of water would be good to give to the guests. Because the hotel is in a private place, there is no access to stores, grocery shops, etc. So if you get thirsty at 10pm, you will need to buy a mini-bottle whose price is elevate, so at least a bottle of water per guest per day could be offered (without charges).

This is that kind of stay that you want to repeat.

Relaxing time away from it all!
Pros:

We had a very relaxing time at playa Scondida. We are Canadian and spoke little Spanish, so it was difficult to communicate at times with hotel staff, but they were very accommodating and overall helpful! We enjoyed the food on-site, the hospitality, and the nature. The owners organized the ride to the ecolodge via car and helped us arrange the boat back to Cartagena. It was very helpful and helped us relax and just enjoy the surroundings.

Pros:

Isla Baru is an amazing area - and the thoughtful & friendly staff here made us feel at home. It's a special place. Would highly recommend the excursions on offer to Mangroves (which is really a tour of the local area of the island in general ie more than just mangroves & rosario.
On Saturdays the bar/club on the other side of the bay attracts party boats, which are loud. So when we revisit we will probably avoid saturdays. mon-sundays is idylllic. We had a wonderful time. Thanks !

Pros:

A really cute place, with plenty of hammocks and well appointed rooms. Lounging in the shade on the dock with views of the water and islands was particularly relaxing. Only slight inconvenience was the heat and humidity, which brought a lot of mosquitos. Even with strong bug spray (provided by hotel) we still got bites.

Great place.
Pros:

Magical little place. Rafa and the staff were very attentive and accommodating without being intrusive and the cooking was delicious and authentic. Playa azul is a hidden gem. There is some annoying beach peddling but nothing remotely like you will experience in Cartagena or the big beaches like playa Blanca or Boca grande. I would strongly urge you to avoid anything the beach peddlers offer that is not factory sealed (we got sick from a coconut drink that we later found out was made from their local "rainwater" supply. After that incident, the owner, Fernando graciously took us into the village of Baru to get some much needed antibiotics, which was above and beyond or expectations. Highly recommended!

Beauty in Baru
Pros:

Our first time in Columbia was an amazing experience. We were guests at this resort toward the end of stay and the Owners went out of their way to personally pick us up in their boat from the secluded island we were staying at beforehand. From the moment we met Fernando, our host, we felt and a warm and friendly welcoming. He let us choose our own room and went out of his way to make sure he met our special requests for little comforts. The rooms DO have air conditioning and the bed was comfortable. The rustic feeling of the palm thatched hut provided protection from the elements while adding to the island experience. The food is chef's choice, which is different but led to some truly amazing meals. The resort is on the bay with a lovely dock but the nearby beach is less touristy and a slice of this beautiful country with awesome sunsets. Bring some peso's to experience the local flare. Snorkeling trip was very cool (and free). Drinks and anything you need here are very reasonable and they don't have the typical corporate mini bar price gouging. If you are looking for luxury you aren't going to find it here but you wont find it on baru. Its not that type of experience. Come here for a true Colombian experience with a chance to disconnect and relax. I promise you will never forget your stay at this resort and your visit to Baru. Fernando is a really great guy and even presented us with a thoughtful wonderful parting gift that we will treasure.
