L’emplacement
La chambre est vieillotte, la personne le soir de mon arrivée n’était pas très agréable
Central location in town. Quiet room, comfortable bed, squeaky clean! I went out for the day before leaving for my flight in the evening and I got to leave my suitcase at reception all day. I even got to pop in and out to use the facilities (bathroom, WiFi, changing, phone charging) throughout the day before I left.
Room is very small, balcony even smaller! Building itself is dated and use a bit of TLC. One reception member although helpful, looked and sounded very grumpy. Wasn't forthcoming with assistance unless asked and kinda ignored you otherwise.
Walking distance to sky tower, take away and shops.
The shower was quite small but did the job.
No crockery or cutlery.

Location excellent. Great value for money. Good outlook/views
Compact room but we knew this
The location is very central, but unfortunately the noise at night is a serious issue. There is a bar directly downstairs, and every night there are people shouting and making noise until very late. Even with earplugs, I was not able to sleep properly. After two days without proper sleep, I even started to experience heart palpitations.
I raised this issue with the hotel, but I was told there were no similar rooms available. The only option offered was to pay extra for an upgrade. I was also told that the noise was caused by the nearby bar, not the hotel, so they would not take responsibility. I was even advised to deal with it myself, such as asking the bar to be quieter or calling the police, which is not a realistic solution for a guest.
In order to get some rest and be able to attend my classes, I had no choice but to pay extra to upgrade the room. However, even in the upgraded room, the balcony door lock was broken, and the hotel refused to fix it.
I don’t think it is reasonable for guests to pay extra due to noise issues caused by the location, especially when the alternative room also has unresolved problems. This experience was very disappointing.
