Grand Hotel Astrakhan

Check in was relatively quick and efficient, but that is where everything goes downhill. The room was OK but quite small. The wardrobe was hidden around a corner and crammed into a very tight space, which made it difficult to access. The safe did not work. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. The shower was in the bath, which is very old-fashioned and not something you should expect in a so-called 5 star hotel.
Breakfast was pretty good but thee was no bacon and the wait for eggs of any sort was very long. One toaster for the whole breakfast room is ridiculous. The coffee machine and the waiter seemed to think that shrugging his shoulders was a perfectly acceptable response.
The bar is more like a transport cafe with no redeeming or attractive features whatsoever. The staff are slow and disinterested. One night, we were actually barred from entering because a party of 20 or so drunken Russians had taken over.
The restaurant is poor and the selection of dishes is pathetic, which is made even worse by the quality of food that is served up.

In my opinion the best hotel in the city. Excellente service, comfortable bed, nothing missing in the room: flip-flops, robe, care products. Everythig was just smooth and comfortable. Location wise - it is in not in the walking distance to the city center, but taxis are very cheap and it takes 5 minutes to get anywhere you need.

The staff is nice. The riverside walk starts in about 300 m from the hotel

Очень удобная парковка для гостей отеля.

Отель 5*, со своим бассейном и шампанским на завтрак.
Уборка номера ежедневно. Персонал доброжелательный, всегда готовый помочь. В лобби и коридорах чисто, приятный запах.
Шаговая доступность до центра города, рыбного рынка и городского пляжа.

I was lost as no English what so ever! so, it was very very complicated for me to communicate besides, they exaggerate a lot in their prices comparing to the city! I mean they are not smart nor logic price wise!
However, I will not come back there again!

Hotel is well renovated inside.
It is a good hotel for families as well very good size rooms

It is new and modern hotel near the Volga river. Hotel is in walking distance from the most number of sightseeing places of Astrakhan. The rooms are big enough, well-equipped and convenient for short-term business trips. Staff if skilled and kind. Hotel offers delicious buffet breakfast at the sixth floor with nice view on Volga river. Swimming pool is free of charge for hotel guests. Wi-Fi is free and high-speed.

Good staff, nice bar and restaurant. Good food.
Situated on the river Wolga. Close to the nice town of Astrakan.
There is a very nice walk way along the border of the Wolga.
Different pubs and restaurants to visit.
Very safe area

This is a large hotel, apparently "luxury".
I was lucky to get apparently higher level rooms.
Rooms were fairly (fairly) clean, nothing special. I did not like the furniture, but everything was in fair condition.

Check in always annoying in Russia (passports, payments in advance, etc) people that do never smile to welcome who, after all, pays their salaries........

I got scared when I entered the restaurant and saw the huge room desert: instead, this was my best experience at this hotel. The lady serving was extremely nice and helpful, and served food that seemed prepared well and with good ingredients.
If we except the terrible furniture (big couch for sitting at a restaurant........) this was by far the best experience for me. Also the breakfast was great, with many different types of fresh fruits, juices, tea and coffee, sweet and salty different options, including salmon eggs well served with quail eggs and butter. Really good, much above the standard of this hotel.

Correct rooms, not very modern but space full. Big heated swiming pool, gym and sauna. Fast internet. Fast checkin. It was low season and the hotel was very quiet. Transport from the hotel 200 rb. Center at 2km

Did I expect more, I must say yes, normal standard, everything good, breakfast normal, maybe I missed a more warm atmosphere, but maybe I was too tired after long flights. I won't be unfair - therefore very good.

The heating doesn't switch of. Like in rest of Russia. But the widows can be opened.
Breakfast OK. Not very special but good.
Rooms are overheated but you can open the window.

I had an three night stay here. The room was large and comfortable with an ample bathroom. There was a plumbing issue each morning and I had no cold running water when I arose each day. Shower had to wait as the water was scalding hot. This was generally fixed by the time I returned from breakfast. Even so, pressure in the shower was fairly weak.
Housekeeping will not service your room unless you put out the "Clean my room" placard on the door. The beds are comfortable, but the pillows are only so so.
The restaurant is pretty good. I enjoyed the caviar at breakfast, and had a very good take out meal in my room for dinner one night.
One member of my party had a bad experience with check in. Her room smelled foul, and when she asked for another room was told that there were no other rooms available. Our group leader switched rooms, and took the hotel staff into the room. Amazingly, another room materialized. This left a bad taste for her stay.
The spa is quite nice, and the massages are excellent and very affordable.

Service is good.
Dark interiors, dark rooms. The design on the fan. Looks like two biotoilets outside. It's great that stands of the river view, but a room with a view is much more expensive.
Very small TV in a room.
It's not a 5 stars. 3 I think.
Novomoskovskaya hotel much better. Will stay there next time again. Dona wanna to make experiment)
