Spacious room and very clean. The location is excellent and very convenient for City Centre
No bottled water in the room which is pretty standard wherever you stay these days.
Breakfast is a bit annoying and very slow service. Why not just have a buffet breakfast which negates waiting for staff to deliver croissant/toast/juice. My friends had an even longer wait for their cooked breakfast!
We have had many stays over the years. We love the location, comfy rooms, and the staff have always been very pleasant.
We now park off-site, across the road, which is much cheaper. We were previously used to a lovely breakfast included in the B&B rate. I admit that I did not check on the 3rd party website 'Breakfast option' but on arrival, we were told it was a continental breakfast only, but we could upgrade for £10 each. We declined and later checked on the 3rd party site as to what was included. Continental breakfast: Bread, pastries, butter, cheeses, cold meats, eggs, yoghurt, fruit, jam, and cereal.
Unfortunately, all that was on offer was unlimited rice krispies, cornflakes, coco pops, crunchy nut cornflakes, whole fruits along with tea and coffee. Even with the additional of a single glass of juice and one item from the lite bites menu, the breakfast offering is now very poor and very much at odds with the previous standards of the hotel. I can only hope the money saved by Abode makes up for the recent critical reviews that the hotel now seems to be attracting.
Clean, tidy, easy to access, generally a good hotel. Poor breakfast, poor bed.
Awful breakfast. Don't call a breakfast "breakfast" in an English hotel if it is a single croissant and one fruit juice and then charge for everything else having shown photos of cooked breakfast products when booking. While the hotel was generally very good, the bed was very soft and not the best start to the day.
Fantastic view of the race course. Very comfortable. Well located right on the city walls so easy access to the centre of Chester. Excellent continental breakfast.
It’s starting to look a bit tired

The hotel was in good location, the rooms very spacious and comfortable.
The 5th floor bar was closed due to a private event - this was the reason we actually booked this hotel over others we had looked at.
The service at breakfast was very poor and the included continental breakfast was farcical - minuscule portion and only allowed one thing from the menu- never before stayed in a hotel where breakfast was so limited.
Immaculate room, well equipped. Hotel in good situation near city centre and race course.
Nothing
Location good
Noise at rear of the property Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 3.30am
Proximity to City centre and Racecourse, also the view from Breakfast room
The room was lacking in style. The bed was uncomfortable, particularly the pillows and the heavy quilt. There was stains on the curtains. The TV remote was problematic and the it came on automatically at 7.00 am. The USB chargers didn't work. There was no fridge. The continental breakfast was limited and any extras incurred additional cost.
Breakfast was good quality and plentiful hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful location near to city centre and restaurants
£20 a night for car parking excessive considering we were hotel guests
Hotel located a few minutes walk from city centre. On site ( albeit for a fee of £20 )underground parking.
Exceptionally poor lighting in bedroom. Breakfast menu difficult to navigate particularly continental choices which were to say the least , miserly!
The dead pigeon on the glass roof outside of my bedroom window
Staff are friendly, room was good
I booked with a so called “free breakfast” which actually turns out to be basically tea and toast and if you want anything else you have to pay. Bit poor in my opinion, either give a breakfast or don’t.
Great location. Great value and friendly staff.
