Great location for a short stay in Chester.
Pros:

Room was a bit small but ok. The only thing that let it down was the bed was very poor quality foam mattress.
Staff very friendly and welcoming. Bar & Restaurant very good. Breakfast excellent.

Cons:

Bedding.

Pleasant comfortable modern city centre hotel.
Pros:

We were given a free upgrade to a larger room with a balcony. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet.
The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the city centre.

Cons:

Breakfast was said to be included, but in fact this only applied to the continental breakfast. Hot dishes were extra.
We were pleased that there was table service at breakfast rather than the usual buffet and expected the hot food to be freshly cooked. However the poached eggs with avocado which we ordered appeared to have been cooked in advance as they were barely warm and the eggs hard and overcooked. This could so easily be avoided.
Hotel parking was available in an underground car park at the hotel but at a cost of £20 per day, which we felt was too expensive. We parked overnight in the Little Roodee public car park a short walk across the road at a cost of £9.00.

Underwhelmed by the Abode
Pros:

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. Great views from our suite. The restaurant is on a high floor with a great view and large balcony.

Cons:

Room appeared a little dated as did the property as a whole. This hotel could do with a full refurbishment throughout.

Great stay and would stay again
Pros:

Lovely room, high floor with great views over the race course, comfortable bed and very clean

Cons:

Nothing wrong with the actual breakfast but maybe when you have paid to upgrade to have breakfast included, you have a little more choice rather then just basic continental.

Lovely hotel, great location, stunning bar - please check the breakfast small print when booking!
Pros:

I loved my stay. I booked as a single guest in a twin room
(As it was the last room on booking.com) and they called me prior to arrival to check of I wanted a twin room or double which was very thoughtful! They also put me very close to family members who were also staying there.

Lovely shower, great selection of tea/coffee in the room, had a drink in the bar upstairs and it was a lovelt atmosphere. Staff we’re very lovely.

Cons:

The ONLY thing I have to say is that it wasn’t clear thar ‘breakfast included in price’ meant continental only. You could select one option from each section of the menu - cold breakfast, hot and cold drink.

Therefore we had to pay an additional £15 for a cooked breakfast. Please include this information when booking and make it very clear as we didn’t know until we arrived at the hotel.

Pros:

Location ,staff, room size.

Cons:

The hotel was good. The only problem was the continental breakfast or lack of same. Poor selection of breackfast cereals and some over ripe fruit.

Ideal location, very nice facilities wish I could have stayed longer.
Pros:

Stunning view of the racecourse

Cons:

Parking. I don't recall being advised that you had to pay £20 per night parking and also was not advised the car park was full when I was let through tge barrier. Spent a great deal of time driving around a tight car park to see if there were any spaces. Was there an option to pay for parking prior to arrival? This has changed since the last time I stayed.

Great location, spotlessly clean, and excellent staff
Pros:

Location is superb, and only a short walk to the city centre, city wall and the river. Staff are fabulous and the rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. If you have an outside facing room the views area great, overlooking the river and racecourse as well as part of the centre.

It really is one of the best hotels to stay and highly recommended.

Cons:

I have stayed here numerous times over the last 5 years for work and liked it so much I started coming for short breaks with my wife, and recommended the hotel to friends who have also stayed there. However, the cost of a hot breakfast has not only risen substantially, which I can expect somewhat in the current climate, but annoyingly it is now added on top of the Continental Breakfast and you pay for top-ups of coffee, have to request toast, and the way it is calculated makes it very expensive compared to similar, or even better, hotels. It smacks of penny-pinching and for that reason we chose room only. While outside rooms in the building have great views the ones facing into the courtyard and adjacent offices are not so desirable - despite being the same price. We visited for a special occasion and paid for one of their better rooms, only to end up facing offices! Customers should have the option when booking - inside facing is ok for when I visit for work, but not when with my wife and celebrating an anniversary!

Finally, we are not fans of see-through glass toilet doors.
