Cons:

The room itself let it down — uncomfortable mattress, curtains that didn’t block the light, weak water pressure, and a long wait between toilet flushes. The shower was the worst: either barely any pressure or scalding hot, with no comfortable middle ground.

Amazing staff
Pros:

The staff were fantastic. Cheerful, helpfull and professional.
Hotel front is very attractive set in nice gardens.

Cons:

The room had a very creaky floor no matter where u walked. The shower had very low flow. The mattress was very soft. The whole place looked tired .

A lovely, friendly, welcoming and comfortable old country hall hotel. Staff superb!
Pros:

Lovely old country hall hotel with wood panneling - not many of these left so happy to enjoy the unique building. Very freindly and personalble staff both at evening check-in and at breakfast. Breakfast was very hot and tasty (vegetarian grilled) with bonus points for a massive pot of fresh tea! Huge, fluffy bath towels. Nice to stay at a friendly, traditional, independant hotel as opposed to the ususal cookie-cutter Traveltavern alternatives.

Cons:

A few usual quirks as expected with an old building - hot water to shower was somewhat 'variable', old style TV (although perfectly functionable), questionable fixtures and fittings etc. But overall as expected with the age / style of the building and probabley added to the authentic character of the place.

Would travel 3.5 hours to go back even for the food!
Pros:

The staff and food were absolutely amazing!

Cons:

Room could have done with a deep clean, but it wasn't dirty in the beds, but it's an old building, so I guess it's hard to maintain anyway

Disappointed
Pros:

Lovely building and nice breakfast

Cons:

No room key available on check in even though it was after 6pm. Staff had to seek a wedding guest who had failed to hand it in. Dog in the next room barked all night long so we hardly slept. Light up mirror in bathroom not working. Light from outside lit up the room all night. Shower very unclean and mouldy. Wedding taking place on arrival so uncomfortable check in with loud merry guests blocking the walkways.
