We stayed here for a week in October 25.
It's a large place with tiered accomodation winding down to the seafront path.
Our room was right next to the pool with a single-glazed french window which - in summer and busy - would have been noisy into the small hours. As it was October, there wasn't anyone at the bar past 11!
The people in the rooms either side smoked heavily which made our small balcony/terrace quite foggy. Yuk.
A lot of other rooms had double-glazing so I expect it's a gradual process.
There are some areas where it's a bit tatty and a few paving stones are dislodged.
The pools are well-kept and the dining room clean & tidy.
We only did B&B, but other guests had differing boards (why, though when there's loads of nice places within 5 mins walk?)
It was ok for our stay.
Yet another review for castello village.
This has been our 4th visit to this hotel. Simply because we love it ! This hotel offers you everything you need for a fabulous holiday. All the staff are fantastic !!! So warm, welcoming .anything they can do to make your holiday special they will do . Plenty of verity in the restaurant catering for everyone , hot or cold ! I absolutely rave about the rosted vegetables plus tomatoes in the morning .would like them more often please 🙏 😊.
They seem to be improving the hotel bit by bit with new sunbeds, table's and chairs in the dinning area.
If I had one negative thing it would be the public toilets .they really do need a revamp. Apart from that I'm very happy with everything else. Thanks again for yet another wonderful holiday 😀 I'm pretty sure we will be back.
Just got back from a 7 night stay in castello village resort and what a lovely place to stay in.
The whole experience was a delight from start to finish, we arrived in the early hours and was greeted by Ava who booked us in and swiftly took us to our apartment and was surprised to see that some food was left for us in the fridge with us being a late arrival this I found to be a good idea.
The apartment was very nice and clean and towels changed every day and the bed linen changed every second day was grateful for the air conditioning as the week we stayed was rather hot in October.
The food in the restaurant was delicious and every day the main man Ervis was there to greet you with his charm an absolute asset
The only down side to the stay was we noticed that the walkways were starting to break up in places and also the main pool area the tiles were starting to break away but I assume this will be rectified in the closed season
We will be back again soon in this delightful little corner of crete
Absolutely perfect holiday , location, ambience was great . Rooms nice with fabulous showers, close to the harbour. If you’re looking for somewhere relaxing this is the place to go.
3rd visit to sisi and castello. much later in the season than usual, so we opted for a hot tub in the village, as aposed to a private pool in the boutique. amazing week. not very disabled friendly. we had breakfast included, but as per my reviews, we don’t eat breakfast, therefore unable to report.
in the boutique, private pool gives you pool towels. in the village, with a hot tub booking, you’re expected to use your bathing towel or bring your own. an outside towel and mat would have given my review an extra plus.
beds incomfortable, but clean. drinks here well priced but vary from castellos. the evening entertainment was a great out of season addition. along with lydia and cornelia, they both oozed languages, pleasantries and enthusiasm. credit to the hotels.
Our 5th visit to Castello Village Resort and our second visit this year, The travel time from Heraklion airport is @ 40 minutes by coach transfer, once at the hotel we went to reception and spoke to Gianni at the front desk, booking in was easy enough before we were taken to our room, Gianni took our cases and showed us the way, the rooms are very spacious and all you need to help with your visit, a good sized bed, the temperature had dropped in October but the heating A/C in the room was a welcomed feature, the shower/toilet is of a good size with a wallmounted mirror behind the sink and a well lit bathroom, we spoke to Mariola (room cleaner) we told her if we could have an extra blanket due to the dropping temperature and prefer a blanket over the heating, we were given a blamket for our beds which were used during our 7 night stay, the resteraunt is based on the lower ground which you need to go down @ steps to get to the dining room, the tables and chairs have been updated and are a much needed improvement, the breakfast has a lot to offer from Bacon/sausage eggs, cereals, breads, fruit and hot drinks.
The hotel is very clean with plenty of cleaners working all day, the outside of the hotel is swept and cleaned daily,
The main pool area is a good size with enough room for beds to be situated around the pool area, this does fill up quickly, around the pool area is a pool bar that is manned by staff, Mythos is served in a ice cold glass which tastes much better than the plastic beakers I have hadinother hotels, Ervis is our regular waiter/barman who is great to talk to, Sevi is another waitress who offers great service assistance.
a new girl in the resteraunt was Dora an Hungarian national who although pretty new to the hotel and a little quiet soon became out of her shell and was too very polite and chatty, the main lure to this hotel is the location and the ease of the layout of the hotel, plenty to do outside of the hotel. the great people I managed to meet and chat to during our stay gives it the family hotel feeling, like me and my wife I too saw regular holiday makers we have met during our previous visits, every night was a show on at the castello hotels from the Boutique and was invited to the other hotels to enjoy the shows, The drifters were a couple of male singers from South Africa who were fantastic, the management at the hotel are always on hand, Constantinas introduced herself on our last visit and will go above and beyond to help the stay memorable, this time round I met Elaini who works at the Castello Boutique Suites.
I cannot praise the Castello hotels enough, we are already planning on returning in June 2026. **The number of returning customers speaks volume about this hotel**
Amazing staff, always go above and beyond. family oriented, Beautiful views, clean rooms and environments. Children have enjoyed themselves, Entertainment, very relaxing, foods are lovely. I will definitely be coming back again with the children.
It was an absolutely amazing experience the staff and all the personnel within the hotel was extremely helpful and supportive in every way possible. Special mention for Constantine, Sevi and Elvis ( not sure of name).
Superb location and friendly atmosphere.
Atmosphere was great and rooms were clean
Staff very nice, nothing too much
Just need to ask if u want to know or need anything
Castello Village is the oldest of the three hotels. The hotel slopes down to the sea, so naturally lots of steps, so it won't suit everyone. There are two pools with bars and snacks available. You can choose any variant of board. Our room was a double see facing, a/c is complimentary and was comfortable. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within the village. I would suggest that if you book via a tour your company remember they have hired certain rooms for the season and don't forget the per night room tax based on the government rating of the hotel. Overall 9.5/10.
Had a great stay here
Lovely room very clean
Staff helpfull.and really friendly. Food excellent. Super holiday big thanks to the staff who made our holiday very special.
Lovely location right opposite the beach (from the back which is also an entrance). The atmosphere was lovely staff very helpful and friendly almost like home from home. They acted like they were really happy that we were there. The holiday in total - accom, flights, transfers, were very good value for money. The food was really nice catering for all tastes and plenty of it. We were B&B so paid for evening meals which were all you can eat buffet style only€22 euros per head. Lovely restaurants/cafes in the surrounding areas too. The room was nice enough, clean, all necessary facilities but personal preference we would rather have had apartment style or at least a larger balcony (very small) and a sea view. This is our only gripe. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday.
My partner and I have had a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel staying for two weeks
Our room was lovely and cleaned every day.
All the staff could not do enough for you.
We stayed b&b and ate two nights at the restaurant. Good choice of food and very tasty.
Rooms fairly clean but towels and linen should have been chucked out along time ago. Very poor can see through the towels and linen frayed.
Breakfast ok but hot food (not hot).
Evening food very poor would not bother with half board.
Overall the hotel is very run down and needs a refurbishment.
Had a great stay at Castello Village Hotel. The staff were friendly, special thanks to the restaurant staff and Lidia and her animation team. The rooms were clean, and the location was perfect just a short walk to the beach and local tavernas. Really enjoyed the pool area and the relaxed vibe overall. Would definitely come back.
We stayed at Castello Village in Sisi and honestly had a lovely, relaxed time! It’s true the hotel is a little older, but it has that kind of old-school charm that makes you feel like you're on a proper Greek island holiday. The whole layout is like a cute little village with lots of greenery and flowers between the different buildings, super cozy and peaceful to walk through. The rooms seem to vary quite a bit, which we found a bit funny. Ours was spacious and comfortable, and we were happy with it overall. We did spot a few rooms with “balconies” that we definitely wouldn’t have been thrilled with those, but hey, not our problem. Ours was lovely! The food was actually really tasty! The restaurant had a lovely outdoor area which we preferred, since the air conditioning inside was a bit much for this time of year. The staff were always smiling and kind, though they did seem to run out of bowls and cups every now and then, nothing major, just a small detail. We spent a good bit of time exploring the area (highly recommend renting a car, so much to see nearby!), but on the days we stayed at the hotel, we mostly hung out by the upper pool, which was more spacious than the lower one. There’s no direct beach access (just rocks right in front of the hotel), but the harbour and some nice beaches are just a short walk away, so it didn’t bother us. A nice surprise was the activities around the pool like darts, aquagym, and some other fun things. The animation team (two girls and a guy) were really friendly and brought a great energy without being pushy. In the evenings, there were shows, sometimes in our hotel and sometimes in the other Castello hotels nearby. Luckily, we could go to those too and since those hotels were newer, it was a fun little “bonus” experience!
All in all, Castello Village might not be the newest hotel around, but it has heart and character. We had a great time, felt well taken care of, and left with some fun memories.
What you see is what you get. I find it calmer than other parts of the island, which for me it is a nice plus, it's clean and well organised. Food is great which you would expect in Crete. What you do not expect is the friendly staff, each and every one of whom, will always be available, kind and ready to help/advice you with anything. We had a very nice vacation.
Hotel is totally recommended! The food is delicious, staff is helpful and always available, hotel provides entertainment.
We would return for sure.
Thank you to all the staff that made our stay valuable!
excellent location near restaurants. sissi is beautiful. hotel clean lots steps and inclines.not suitable for those with walking difficulties. pool lovely. restaurant at pool bar excellent! food lovely and reasonable. we booked seaview and e mailed Maria for upper floor.we were given ground floor but moved next morning. room 411.beautiful view good air con good shower.only issue was very noisy when entertainment was on as was in front of bar.breakfast good yes busy at times.does run out crockery.reception staff were great vert helpful. unfortunately issues like other reviewer. pool closed early Tues and Thurs.nowhere for guests to go as small pool packed! early sunbed reservations. I complained as found this annoying. got taken to hotel across road to use beds(more luxurious) biggest bug bear.NO COURTESY ROOM ! cudnt believe it.we were not getting picked up till the evening. unfortunately another complaint from me then strangely enough got a room to shower for 30mins.come on castello sort this out!! the cleaner worked very hard as did all staff including entertainment team so well done.we would visit sissi again but a smaller family hotel without the loud music and a courtesy room and a pool that disent close to suit the evening entertainment! All said I wudnt not recommend as does have a lot good qualities. make up your own mind based on reviews
Had a fabulous week at Castello Village Resort, room good and exceptionally clean. We were overlooking the main road but we don’t spend much time in it! Breakfast is amazing a vast choice for Greece, excellent in every way. The girls who did the water aerobics were so lovely and accommodating, very good at their jobs, so friendly, polite and included everyone 🥰 who wanted to participate. Would definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully be back in the near future thank you to all the staff who made our holiday extremely special. ❤️❤️
