Location. Rooms are spacious but layout a bit dated.

Cons:

The room layout, tub in bathroom, one face basin, the charge for Internet which is crazy in this day and age; the cellphones don't work well in the rooms which I guess is to force you to buy internet connection; valet parking very steep.

From the moment of arrival, the front desk team displayed an unwelcoming and dismissive attitude, as if we were requesting complimentary services rather than being paying guests. This tone alone set an uncomfortable first impression.

More concerning issues followed:

I informed the front desk that a friend would be arriving later that evening and requested assistance in finalizing the deposits. This request was refused and the guest waited more than 1 hour to give him the room key.

My guest were held at reception for nearly one hour until I personally arrived, which caused unnecessary inconvenience and discomfort.

When I contacted the front desk by phone to request assistance with arranging airport transportation, the agent raised her voice and reacted unprofessionally when the landline connection was unclear and I asked her to repeat the information.

I also requested luggage assistance. A trolley was left unattended in the middle of the lobby, and after waiting more than 10 minutes with no staff support, I had to handle the luggage myself.

Collectively, these incidents reflect a serious lapse in service standards, communication, and guest care. This is not the level of hospitality expected from a Marriott-branded hotel, particularly one positioning itself as a five-star property.

I am sharing this feedback directly with you because I believe such matters require leadership attention. This experience has unfortunately raised concerns regarding our confidence in selecting this hotel for a large group stay.

I would appreciate your review of this situation and clarification on how service standards are being enforced at the front desk level.

Exceptional service
Pros:

Celebrating my wife’s birthday and Valentine’s Day so it was a special weekend. I tried to make dinner reservations for a few restaurants but due to the time of year (valentines weekend) they were all booked. I spoke with Andres, who is the chief concierge at the JW Marriott Marques in Miami and I told him “ I need a miracle” and a miracle he delivered. Andres was absolutely amazing, he delivered exceptional service and was able to book a few reservations for me to some of the most popular restaurants in the local area. Not only did he secure my restaurant reservations but he also booked at message for my wife for Valentine’s Day, which was an huge relief and made my stay absolutely wonderful and my wife would agree.

Generous Suite Upgrade Although a Bit Boring Style
Pros:

With so many interesting hotels in South Beach it’s such a bummer to book this kind of boring business hotel downtown rather than on the beach, but for this stay I really cared about early check-in and late check-out, more so than staying in a much nicer hotel or even receiving a suite upgrade as Bonvoy Ambassador Elite so I had to avoid resorts. At JWM we got the room at noon and checked out at 5pm the next day so it worked great. I even received a premium suite upgrade even though I was willing to compromise on that. But the hotel is totally utilitarian and nothing exciting. I would not really blame them for that as they must fill their mandate as per the JWM brand which is itself quite boring in my experience.

This hotel has a club lounge but its value to us was fairly limited. The simple existence of the lounge means we could not get breakfast in the restaurant and I know from past experience that (a la carte) breakfasts in Miami tend to be very nice even for cheaper hotels. And for happy hour it was nothing to write home about, some nibbles, veggies & guacamole was nice but hot food was fried stuff and we did not touch. Booze is not free.  Outside the USA having lounge access you get better service but here staff is hardly present in the afternoon and when they are at the entrance in the morning or evening they are just busy checking room number and clearing tables so there is no such thing as better service, not that I could see.  So I think I would rather have a hotel without a lounge such that breakfast would be in the restaurant, rather than have the convenience of a lounge if there is no service and if happy hour has subpar food and no drinks. Which is the exact opposite of what I prefer elsewhere in the world: I value lounges especially for higher level brand hotels.

For this location specifically, next time I would try the Autograph hotel (Beaux Arts) instead of JWMM, it’s in the same building but only top 3 floors whereas JWMM is on lots of floors up to 40 so Autograph must be quiet and private.

Great getaway weekend

I had a great stay with my girlfriend. Andre hooked it up with a great dinner reservation in Miami. Everything was perfect!

Horrible had to leave because of the error in acomodation, were charged in full when i was promised.

Clean room, confortable bed, good internet

Cons:

The staff were extremely unprofessional and clearly unhappy to work there. They ignored requests, showed no willingness to help, and even lied just to get me away from the counter. Because of this unacceptable treatment, I had no choice but to cancel my stay.

I requested a partial refund for the unused nights, and Booking.com support was very helpful—they confirmed they had emailed the property. However, the next day I was informed that my refund request was denied by the property. This was very frustrating, because I would not have left if the staff had been honest with me from the start instead of lying.

Overall, the experience was deeply disappointing. The staff’s behavior and dishonesty made my stay impossible, and the property refused to take responsibility afterwards.

After a business trip to South Florida last week, I was welcomed back by the outstanding hospitality at Beaux Arts, the hidden gem above the JW Marquis Miami. Though my meetings took me more than 75 miles each way to West Palm Beach, I chose to stay in Miami because there truly is no place like home.

A Comfortable Room
Pros:

A good visit, everything as expected, no surprises or disappointments. Hoping to get a late checkout, but not available. Room was comfortable and easy access for my electronics. We did have to call for a second face cloth , but all else ok .
