Nothing really.
Excellent place to stay from start to finish. First time there and definitely go again. Rooms laid out well.and really quiet. Enjoyed the breakfast and good parking options as well. Sat outside in early evening when we got back enjoying the sunshine. Staff good at their jobs too.
Personally nothing
Nice clean room and good breakfast (though only the continental breakfast is free)
I specifically did a filtered search for a room with a bath, and this was confirmed by the picture and list of facilities, but on arrival there was no bath. Staff didn't seem particularly bothered about fixing this. Another bugbear (and many hotels do this now) is that even if your room is available they won't let you check-in a little earlier without paying. As a weary traveller it would be such a nice gesture to be able to have the room a little early if it is ready - this costs the hotel nothing! Amid this mercenary attitude, impersonal fixed messages asking whether the stay is meeting expectations and offering to do anything to help make the stay more pleasant smacks of fake hospitality.
Bed was comfortable, room was clean
We arrived in the evening and were greeted by a young woman in shorts and a t-shirt who gave us minimum information and seemed very keen to go back to what she was doing. The room was on the ground floor and was dark and a bit depressing. There was a connecting door to the next room so noise from the couple in the next room was evident all night - even though they were only moving around and occasionally talking. (I had asked for a quiet room at time of booking as I am a light sleeper.) The next day I took the 'Do not disturb' sign off the door as we were out for the day, but when I returned, the room had not been made up and so nothing had been replenished. I wanted a shower before we went out in the evening so went to ask for another shower gel as the tiny one in the bathroom had all gone when my husband and I had showered that morning. The girl on reception gave me another tiny single bottle! We didn't bother having breakfast on our last morning, but I picked up a single croissant on my way through and it wasn't very fresh. I don't really know how other people can have rated this hotel superb but I wish I hadn't been swayed by this when choosing a hotel in Chester. Added to all this, the hotel is quite a trek from the town centre - we are keen walkers but it took 25 minutes to get to the theatre that evening on foot.
B&B off main Hoole road no traffic noise at all.
Good shower
Plenty of milk on the fridge.
Continental breakfast was basic in quality variety and standard.
Beds were uncomfortable and creaked as you turned over.
Staff did not seem to know anything ..no maps of Chester ect…
Not a 4 star b and b
We liked the location, decor, free parking and continental breakfast included.
Due to the hot weather, and no fault of the hotel staff, we had to try to sleep with the window open and the fan on. This proved difficult because of the noise outside and the sound of the fan.
Everything. Location and Staff excellent
Very nice, lovely room and good breakfast
There was no air con and we stayed during one of the hottest weeks of the year
The room and kindness of personel
Great location, Hoole is a vibrant lovely little district and its an easy walk into Chester City Centre.
