The staff were all lovely especially in the Sartoria area. This review is more about the Sartoria rooms and Cafe as that is where we spent all of our time. The food in the Cafe was perfect, well presented and a good price. The decor in the cafe was lovely and modern.
The room in Sartoria was lovely, spacious, clean, everything worked as it should. A comfortable experience.
WE CHOSE THIS HOTEL AS ITS A SPA HOTEL - THE FACILITIES WERE CLOSED 2 DAYS BEFORE OUR VISIT!! We recognise these things happen but the hotel were completely unwilling to consider any concessions to compensate for our disappointment. No upgrade, no price reduction, no breakfast thrown in, not even a free drink with dinner. I had a whole day with my daughter and facilities advertised were not available. Very poor.
Also the material in the room and sent out begore conflicts on times of restaurant / cafe openings. Cafe stops serving at 530 not 9pm as in the material. The Brasserie is open Mon & Tues evening despite email saying its closed. Reception were not interested in being informed of errors.
It was a comfortable and peaceful experience, though you might be a bit disturbed by noise t night..
Lovely location. .reception staff not overly friendly, we said kept awake by a humming noise like a generator but not interested, said would get back to us but they didn't, walls so thin could hear person in next room coughing like they were in our room with us!
This visit to Orsett Hall was one of the worst visits we have ever experienced. We have been frequent visitors to Orsett Hall for the last couple of years so fully expected to receive the same first class treatment.
On the day of our arrival the car park was pretty much full but we managed to park the car. Checked in ok, room was ok, albeit the towel rail was not working. What the reception staff failed to let us know, out of courtesy, was that they would be hosting 2 separate evening receptions for 2 separate weddings which took place that afternoon within the grounds. That evening, we could not get in our car as we were unable to open the doors due to the close proximity of the cars parked either side. The noise levels. Despite being on the second floor, the music was very loud until it ended at midnight. Just to make matters worse, the young couple in the room next door to us seemed to be having their own party which included a lot of sniffing and coughing!!!! This went on until gone 3 a.m. !!!!
On day 2 of our stay, due to the lack of sleep the night before, we placed the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. We were rudely awoken at 8 a.m. by the constant door slamming of guests staying in the rooms along the same corridor where we were. This was followed by exceptionally loud speaking by the guests. This went on for 3 hours!!! We finally opened the bedroom door to be greeted by a home made "Film Crew" filming a young girl in a dress. Filming was then abruptly halted and we marched through their filming as this was the only way out of the room!!!!
Unfortunately, the food used to be very good with a lot of choice. Not sure what has happened since our last visit, but the menu has been scaled down by two thirds with very little choice. The breakfast is now a buffet - it is no longer a 'cook to order' which was so much better as the choice was there to have and you could tailor the breakfast if needed to suit your preferences.
The only good thing about this visit was the exceptional spa treatments we received from the beauticians. This is something that cannot be faulted. Disappointed though by the lack of pool (we were told this had been closed for sometime and is closed for the foreseeable future).
All in all, a lot of money was spent for a 2 night stay in return for a very poor service from the hotel and the staff. We understand the hotel is soon to close for refurbishment as it has recently undergone new ownership but from a personal point of view, the changes are not for the better and the staff seem to have lost their mojo. Undecided as to whether we will return once the refurbishment is complete.
Disappointed, booked a a couple spa package to be told a month before that the spa is now closed. Continued with treatment and afternoon tea but on the day went for our treatment very poor communication, taken into room for treatment which seemed noticeably colder than outside room, no where to put clothes as was told to change in room. After treatment (full body massage)was left again in room to changes back into clothes with no option to shower so hair covered in oil and slipping around on the floor after with oily feet. No chair to sit down to put shoes on no mirror to see how bad hair was and then shown to relaxation room (chairs in darkened room) and given a glass of water. Didn't feel particularly special or relaxed shame as if spa was opened would have had the opportunity to relax in the water and shower afterwards, or a least offer changing facilities with a robe and slippers.
I had my 50th birthday party on Saturday at Orsett hall. I can't thank enough how wonderful it was! Thank you Roseanna for looking after me from the beginning! Thank you chefs for amazing meal! Thank you all waitresses for wonderful service.
And the rest of the team who made my party so special. Highly recommend your venue as ir was best party I ever had! Thank you xxx
Beautiful location very welcoming. Breakfast was lovely.
Would of loved a couple of proper glasses in our room and not plastic .
Spa and changing rooms not available.
Although relaxation room was nice.
My therapist didn’t ask me how the pressure was.
The massage bed was broken so no comfortable place to put my head.
She offered me a drink of water at the end, which didn’t materialise.
The room was very cosy and comfortable.
Food was delicious and had the fish and chips.
Staffs were very friendly at all level.
Nothing
I booked this hotel for Mother’s Day as my Mum wanted to visit London and visit some places she grew up not far from here! And thought I would book a nice hotel with spa facilities if she wanted to use them what she normally would.
The day before travelling I got left a voicemail on my phone at 17.00 to say the spa and pool facilities have been closed due to health and safety what left me no time to try a look for something different. Traveling from the North east we set off and arrived 4.5 hours later 13.30 and went to check in to be asked do we have early check in (no we didn’t) check in is 15.00 so I asked are the rooms ready yes they are it’s £20 per person for early check in so I mentioned the fact the spa facilities aren’t available are we getting a discounted price for rooms then? No the reply was from a young girl I cannot authorise that with a bit of attitude! So I didn’t want to wait we paid the extra £20 each. Feeling robbed!
After the rest of the day out and about we got back tired and ended up getting room service for tea what was completely wrong and had to come back 3 times this was Monday night, we checked out Wednesday morning and the plates etc were still on floor in our room on leaving although room service had been in on Tuesday! And I had phoned reception to be told leave them in the room and they would collect them.
The rooms are very dated and quite dirty more so the carpets what are desperate (pics attached) the shower wall in my room was on an angle so impossible to stand up in it. (Pic attached)
Breakfast was poor. The only thing nice about this hotel was the gardens surrounding it well kept and nice.
Overall the stay here was very poor I wished I had just booked a premier inn!
Apologies I cannot attach pics for some reason probably because they don’t want people to see how dirty the carpets are.
Very good
Rooms we a little cool couldn't turn heating up
Big hotel obviously geared towards functions and weddings rather than individual travellers.
On check in you're immediately directed to connect to the Wi-Fi (signal is poor) and enter all of your details into an app, all while the receptionist is sat in front of you looking bored.
Rooms were fine, albeit the ones in the Sartoria building are a long way all around the back of the building with no-one else around, and then through a (closed) cafe area. Room itself was nice and spwcious.
Food was fine, service generally OK.
Was surprised that the bar had a hard 'close and leave' at 11pm with no prior notice nor last orders.
Needed to stay in the area for work. The hotel was conveniently located. A very good hotel and had two very good night's sleep.
Our room was lovely bed comfortable.. shower was amazing.. breakfast and dinner was excellent.. had 2 treatments in the Spa and the girls were lovely and so professional.. Definitely recommend 5⭐️
