Great place
Fabulous little hotel in a superb location.
Rooms were clean and cleaned daily, decent size and very comfy bed.
The only slight disappointment of the room was the cooking facilities, we’d hoped to be able to cook and have a few meals on the balcony, but the single hot plate was not sufficient for that.
Shower was great when we had hot water, which was intermittent, apparently that’s normal for the area.
It’s genuinely at the top end of a 2/3 star hotel rating. And very typically Greek.
Staff are wonderful, really friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was great, cooked and cold offerings, sufficient for our needs.
Pool area is small but very clean and relaxing.
I’d choose a higher floor if possible as the sun beds are positioned right outside ground floor room windows.
Location is superb, 4 or 5 truly wonderful restaurants on your doorstep in a quiet, beautiful little area, and you’re 5 mins stroll to the beach.
The main road is awash with restaurants, tavernas and bars overlooking the sea.
Regular buses, 5 mins away, go into Chania.
Would definitely stay again.
This was a disappointment as a resort . The pool was placed far too near the accommodation especially if like us you had rooms on the ground floor facing the pool with sun beds placed outside your windows. As there weren’t many sun beds , I’d say about 15, the beds at our windows were always full so that there was no privacy. We had a very small terrace which was just behind the beds so no privacy there either. I had requested a ground floor apartment because of my walking disability admittedly ,but we were given a first floor one involving 3 flights of stairs, almost impossible for me.The staff were very good about this and moved us but then we were moved to the one on the ground floor. I just feel that the resort feels like it’s squashed up , badly designed.
The rooms were clean and bedding and towels changed every day but like others have said ,fresh bedding just left on the bed .The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We paid for breakfast and this was a big disappointment. I know people have said
that there’s a big variety of food on offer. Trueish but it was low quality , peculiar orange juice, not much in the way of breads, the yoghurt was very strange and the sausages and bacon very poor. We made our own breakfast 10 days out of 14.
Having said all this, sorry if others have loved it but for us it just didn’t compare to last years holiday at a similar place in Rhodes.
This is a 2 star resort. Unfortunately we wouldn’t be going back.
Aghia Marina , that’s another story.
This small, well designed hotel is ideally located and suited us down to the ground. The staff are so friendly and hard working and nothing is too much trouble for them. The previous review that says you have to make your own bed is absolutely not true. Beds are made and towels changed every day apart from Sunday. Bedding is changed on Saturday but the maids leave it neatly folded at the foot of the bed ready to use that night. There are only about 20 sunbeds round the small pool but those that choose to spend their holidays laying there are easily able to find a bed. On the couple of days we wanted to chill out we chose to go to the nearest beach club and hire a couple of sunbeds for 10 Euros a day.
The breakfast is nice and plentiful served in the bar area overlooking the pool. The actual bar is fairly quiet and really only sees any traffic during the 3 to 5pm happy hour. There is also a later happy hour later in the evening but not many guests took advantage of this. I think they also served snacks during the day but we never ate there apart from breakfast.
This was my second visit and my friend’s first to Minos Village. We love the location, pool and the friendly staff at the hotel. The hotel has happy hour twice a day and you can also have lunch there. The hotel is quiet but there are plenty of tavernas a couple of minutes walk away. It is also only a short walk from the beach and main strip too. It is very easy to get the bus into Chania with the bus stop being a few minutes walk away. The journey takes 15-20 minutes.
There is nothing not to like in my opinion.
If you are looking for small and relaxed, which we were, this is the place for you.
The room was lovely and clean and looked after every day, except Sunday. The grounds to the hotel was also clean and well looked after. All staff were lovely and friendly. Great choice and all we needed for breakfast Just around the corner you had a number of Taverners. 10 minute walk to main road with plenty of taverners and shops and the beach.
Vi hadde 10 flotte feriedager på dette hotellet. Spesielt imponert over imøtekommetheten og vennligheten til alle ansatte. Skinnende rent.Greie fasiliteter og god frokost. Reiser gjerne tilbake dit.
Hotel basic lack of sunbeds only 20 in total. Housekeeping done everyday but and this is a big but, they don't make the beds, they leave everything on top of the top sheet and expect you as a paying customer to make it yourself. Answer from reception is so you can see it's been changed!! In all of the hotels/apartments we have stayed in
over the years we have never had to make our beds, we won't be returning prefer other end of island. There's nothing to do on an evening aside from numerous tavernas. Gutted tbh
Good room
Good location
Limited space around the pool
An excellent and wide choice for breakfast. The hotel was in a quiet location and within close proximity to a number of excellent tavernas and the beach.
In addition, it was only a short walk to the bus stop for frequent buses along the coast and into Chania.
They wasn't anything not to like.
We had such a wonderful experience during our stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely attentive—nothing was too much trouble, and their local knowledge made our trip even more enjoyable.
The cleaners worked hard to keep not only rooms but complex tidy and clean everyday apart from Sunday.
Our stay was exceptionally relaxing. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, perfect for unwinding and taking a real break from the hustle and bustle. We especially appreciated the variety offered at breakfast each morning—there were plenty of options to suit every taste, all fresh and delicious.
The location was also perfect, with plenty of restaurants and shops just a short walk away. Even the beach was only a ten-minute walk, making it easy to enjoy the best of the area without needing transport.
We’re already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!
I’d highly recommend Minos Village. Everything about it was enjoyable and easy. We stayed for two weeks on a bed and breakfast basis.
We arrived after reception had closed and had somehow missed the instructions for how to get in, but there was a phone number on the door. I was able to call via WhatsApp to avoid charges, and they answered straight away, giving me the key safe code.
The apartment was spacious, cleaned daily, well soundproofed, and the air conditioning was quiet and efficient. We had one small issue—the beds were two singles, which isn’t ideal for a couple—but a quick chat with reception and it was resolved in no time.
The pool is a little on the small side, so it might not suit a serious swimmer, but it’s more than adequate for cooling off. Leftover inflatables from previous guests are stored safely, so you can help yourself without needing to buy one.
We really liked the location. It’s slightly tucked away from the high street, but only a five-minute walk. The area feels like a lovely little community, with some of the very best restaurants nearby. We dubbed it the gastronomy quarter.
We arrived late, reception was closed, there was a note with instructions to find our room which we knew about, however the lovely barman was just closing the bar and insisted on helping us to our room.
First impression was great, our room was spotless and a good size with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool.
Our first day was spent by the pool after we had done a small supermarket shop.
Unfortunately we were a little disappointed by the layout and lack of space around the pool the sun beds are mainly along one wall almost touching each other, they are directly in front of properties which is a bit awkward if they are sat outside on thier terrace.
The way the pool is central with the properties all around made the sounds coming from children from the pool echo which can be very noisy during busy months.
We had to go in August so if you want a peaceful read around the pool dont go in the school holidays.
We also found the pool to be in need of a clean, in the 2 weeks we were there we used the pool twice.
We always go self catering as we enjoy eating lunch and dinner out, we dont book breakfast as this would spoil our appetite for lunch
The one other thing that disappointed us was there was a large filter coffee machine we never used, a sandwich maker when we would have made a better use of a toaster for breakfast, we have always had toasters as toasted sandwiches tend to be available at most pool bars we wouldn't bother buying products to make them.
The other thing was the hairdryer,
If you want to actually dry or style your hair or have long hair this dryer is not for you, its is wall based and in the bathroom, it would barely dry your hands so I suggest you take your own.
Having said all this...
Minos village is spotless, the house keeping is spot on all staff are hard working, friendly and it's a good place for children.
There was never anyone around the bar of an evening which we did miss so made sure we didn't rely on going back to mingle with other guests as we have always been use to.
We did tend to spend an hour after coming back from a day on the beach, the happy hour was always popular but it did tend to go quiet after that time.
Bar snacks and drinks were great.
We would not return only due to the lack of space around the pool as I felt it to be a little too compact.
We did find other guests our age in a couple did have similar opinions.
Also as we had a late return flight we enquired about having the room for the day, we were told we could pay €140 to book it or wait until the day before for a better rate, as the room had not been taken we were offered it for €70 which we did pay, we were a little disappointed it wasn't less having had spend 2 weeks there.
Nice hotel.Great staff.Big apartmen, cleaned daily.Pleasant breakfast. We asked if could move as balcony not big enough for 3 of us to sit out but could not move us so had to sit inside when returning of an evening which was a disappointment. Also asked for different pillow, sadly couldn't accommodate this. Pool nice and warm but gets quite shaded in most places throughout the day. Otherwise a pleasant place to stay.
I'm sitting by the pool on our last day writing this review,
When we arrived really late, Nedi the barman came out, greeted us, got our keys for us and then stayed late to allow us to have some drinks after a long day.
Perfect start.
Great Cocktails, great banter and a great guy.
Across the days here I realised that the staff are what makes this beautiful hotel even better than it already is.
No fighting for sunbeds, no Blaring music by the pool, just respectful people laughing with their kids in the pool, relaxing and being human beings.
Joseph and Selda at breakfast and the restaurant are both lovely people, always a smile, and a chat, we were always welcomed warmly.
Food is always to an exceptional level, delicious.
Rooms are cleaned to a really high standard, the ladies work so hard all day and are always happy to assist.
Anna and Constantine at reception helped us book taxis, called anyone we needed to do the work for us and were a joy to deal with always.
I can tell you this, We never go back to a place again normally.
I would come here again in a second.
I think the staff here, all of them, are the very best I have encountered.
I would go as far as to say we made a few friends who I'm very glad I met and I will always remember fondly.
Hopefully we meet them again, I hope so.
