Was looking forward to a restful stay but it was anything but
Pros:

Great breakfast
Great location

Cons:

Room 11 is the worst location, next to the broiler room. I’m surprised they even give that room to guests. Every time the broiler turns on, it was very noisy. It would also be appropriate that if maintenance is being done to at least have the staff knock on the doors of the rooms before just opening.

Glad it was only one night.
Pros:

Location

Cons:

The hotel is in dire need of of a complete refurbishment. The window in our bathroom had no curtains or blinds so we had to hang a towel up to block it off. The bar was not open. They claim to be. 3 star hotel, but I would say at best it was a 2 star.

Lovey stay
Pros:

The hotel exudes a wonderful retro charm and is conveniently located in the heart of Southampton City Centre.

Cons:

The unavoidable noise outside isn’t the hotel’s fault. The rooms also need a bit of updating; the paint is peeling off the walls, one of the rooms had a damp smell and the TV wasn’t working.
